Wcmls Major Update (december 2024)

So taken the plunge on PS5.

792 services on the counter but based on Matt's explanation I would estimate the real number to be 938.

My wife is travelling to Euston tomorrow morning on 1Y22 that departs Milton Keynes at 9.35. Had hoped to drive that one as it's a bit of a joke we have that I can drive trains she gets (we live on BCC). But sadly that service is not there so had a go at a similar one 1Y20 at 9.03 from Milton Keynes.

Timetable and accurate 350 formations are a big improvement in the line feeling more real (despite the odd missing service). Having the suspension on the 350 is nice. Didn't have a crash but I've rarely had one on this route since upgrading to PS5. It definitely gets more stuttery with the odd sound drop after Watford (I did a couple of saves as a precaution). There are also a number of AWS magnet errors in that area as previously mentioned which seems to be in the same places they were since launch.

So looking forward to digging into this new timetable more and for the further updates and improvements that hopefully should mean this route is in good shape by early 2025.

I'm a bit confused, have there actually been any new 390 services added? As in ones that weren't there previously? I'm on PS5 and I can see the correct new timetable for the 710 and 1972 stock, however the timetable for the 390 appears exactly the same as it was previously.

The service count for the 390/0 isn't 38 but 49, which if I remember correctly was the count previously. I manually counted 60 services for the 390/1 but again, I believe that's the same as previously. I tried searching for services that I know weren't there previously but should be playable (specifically the services to and from Scotland that stop at Watford), and lo and behold, they're still not there...

Why has the 390 timetable been neglected? It's the one train I was really hoping to have more services, and considering you have to pay extra to have the privilege of driving it, you'd think it would have been given more attention.

I observed a 12:xx to EDB from EUS showing on PIS stopping at WFJ.

 

Actually looking more thoroughly I think those services I mentioned ARE there- it's just a different version of the timetable than what's currently used irl. Disregard at least part of my last post....

I'm still convinced there are at least some 390 services missing. You simply never pull into Euston and only see 1 or 2 Pendolinos.

 

Mate, their are loads missing. I Loads of xx:30 Euston to Glasgow Central services are missing. I do have a post about it on this thread.

 

The route certainly looks better and feels busier now. I appreciate that the 350s are no longer mostly 4-car affairs. On Series S I have not had any crashes yet, although I am not running any custom liveries and do not own the HOA or TEA DLCs (which might not be available on Series S anyway). I am sure it will crash sometime though, but my preference has always been to have as many layers available as possible, and then deselect some layers if preferred. With frequent saving, of course.

I would like to note that 72 stock service 235-04 appropriately started off empty at Stonebridge, but then no passengers boarded at any stops even though the platforms were full, and the train stayed empty. I did not have this problem with the 390 on a subsequent service.

No wonder it was happening on modern trains only.

Hopefully the fix passes and can get released before x-mas.

 

Let’s hope it can get sorted. I certainly don’t want to labour the point and it’s not as if there’s any gore, just the shock of finding someone suddenly stood right in front of the train. It’s also not a problem on every route. I jumped back across to Maintalbahn after abandoning the 350 run on WCML, so far no passenger animations straying on to the track.

Anyhow let’s see if the texture blurring can be sorted and someone really does need to have another pass at doing the tunnels, make them a smooth seamless bore not obviously joined from different components and texture that isn’t repeating itself with a dark triangle every 10 yards or so.

 

Just drove the 0738 from tring in the 350 , a nice busy run, passing a really good variety of traffic. Noting more adverse signals with the busier timetable which is good. Noticed in external view when doors closing not all doors are giving the doors closing sound. Also DRA switch does not illuminate when set.

 

One other thing I did notice on yesterday evening’s run, might be an existing quirk. While passing through Kensal Green Tunnel on the Down Fast, could clearly hear a 1972 stock train accelerating complete with occlusion through the Down DC Line Tunnel. No way in reality that sound would carry through several feet of solid ground and another tunnel bore in between.

 

The OHLE is still horribly broken leaving Milton Keynes. Look up and right leaving the station, it's floating like spaghetti. Not to mention all the gaps.

I have noticed quite a few issues with liveries from creators club. If you pass another train at speed going the opposite direction, 90% of the time various coaches are invisible. Xbox Series X

 

Has anyone else on Xbox series s still only got 708 serviced after updating? Is there a way around to get the rest

 

Had a drive out of Euston on the Overground to Watford Junction last night. Apart from the AWFUL frame rates around Euston (PS5), it was a nice run. Only thing of note to bring up was the floating "S" markers on the ground in stations, presumably as stop markers. I saw these in more than one station although unfortunately can't recall which ones!

I personally enjoy the overground line the most, the 350 and 390's both offered so much and delivered less than that, but the regular stopping patterns on the Overground keeps me more entertained!

 

Are the pendolinos still accelerating really slow.

 

PlayStation 5 performance is terrible after this update. What has happened laggy stuttering. What a let down. How can you release this mess of a route. Just not playable. Very disappointed.

 

I'm so disappointed as well this is my favourite route and that update has ruined it now crashes all the time just un playable trains drive horribly scenery looks like its from a game 20 year ago I hope gets sort quickly or remove the update if they can.

 

I was so excited to try this, only to get stuck at a never ending red 1.4km outside Euston on service 1A64 in the 390. Looks like an enormous pile up ahead. Wish I had the last half hour of my life back. Very disappointed and won’t be going back to this route for a while until these new updates “settle”.

The route stutters more than before as well.

I do think, although DTG are never keen to do it, a rollback in this instance might not be a bad idea until the whole route is basically rebuilt from the ground up.

Or withdraw it and give us our money back, or those who had it and the Pendolino as part of the TSW5 package, a pro rata rebate.

 

I honestly agree. I stated the route needs to be done from scratch, but someone said it be financially bad but that’s not our problem, as I will always say Rivet should of never been given the route at all! This is the problem, needs to be ripped up entirely.

 

Is there a reason why everything gets routed via B section on approach to Euston?

2. The Euston to Birmingham fast service non stop until Coventry.

3. The Euston to Holyhead service.

4. The Euston to Manchester service non-stop until Nuneaton via Stoke on Trent

5. The Euston to Manchester service non-stop until Stafford via Crewe

 

In my experience the route isn’t too bad performance wise but I’m on PC with 32gb ram , and 11gb video ram with an i7 .

 

While I think suggesting a complete route rebuild is somewhat hyperbolic, I do agree that releasing this update seems to have been a mistake. For all its faults, I actually quite enjoyed playing WCMLS but it's bordering on unplayable now. I want to see the promised improvements but only when they are ready. I am somewhat concerned at the apparent chaos in terms of how integration and release are managed because it appears that no one really knew what actually made it into the release build.

 

Has anyone had the emergency break automatically activate on the 390 it happened to me twice is there anyway of stopping it

 

The performance on the series x is definitely worse since the update. Hopefully the performance improvements coming in the new year resolve this.

 

I don't know the context but this can happen when the speed is being managed and the system doesn't think you are slowing down enough to meet an approaching lower speed limit.

 

Driving the 350 does feel improved, especially with the suspension finally added. However, there is still the problem where selecting the "head out" view (either right or left-sided) retains the interior cab audio, instead of switching to the exterior audio. This issue has been present from day one.

 

I tried the new update last night on PS5. Im happy that there are way more LNWR 350 services as well as way more London Underground and Overground services. It actually feels realistic now. One problem I have is my creator club liveries are causing the game frames to drop and lag abit when I pass AI trains with said liveries. So I will have to delete them which is no problem at all. Id much rather have the normal liveries and enjoy the improved timetable.

 

I'm also on PS5 and I've done two end-to-end runs in a 350 so far, one southbound and one northbound, and spent some time walking around the very busy Queens Park. There were a few very, very minor stutters in some places, but nothing worse than I know from other routes (Linke Rheinstrecke is the worst offender). I also did not experience any crashes going into London Euston either.

I think I have most of the DLC layering onto this route, except for the Pendolino's. Maybe that makes a significant difference?

Edit: I also don't use custom liveries, so as posted by AvfcWalpole7 that's another thing to consider.

 

Approaching London in the morning and nice to see lots of traffic around 9am. Few yellows and one red for me,l.

 

Have to agree Ryzen 3600,2070super,32gb,Ae5 Sound card fitted.
I get better performance across the route than ECML with all layers installed.
Not had stability problems with the West Coast even at launch.I set a realistic frame rate and it's remained stable.
People feeling bitter about the Euston to Milton Keynes isn't going to change; even if the patch had been complete and brought stability across all platforms.
Is anyone else on Pc happy at recommended system specs?
It's in better shape than my recent NY to Trenton purchase.
Dovetail should have held it back till they could bring the improved core fix for the consoles .I've got the performance from the route I wanted, can't feel bad about that.
Never had any issues waiting for something, didn't matter what it may be.

What's causing them to push incomplete patches out?

 

I had a run yesterday in a 390 from Milton Keynes to Euston. Whenever approaching an AI train that happened to have a custom livery applied, the game suffered from massive lag- the worst I've ever experienced in TSW.

Can you turn off custom liveries for AI trains? I seem to recall you can but I can't for the life of me remember how.

I also play TSW5 on a PS5, though sadly the Class 350 services are still at the same level. 244 playable services as it was pre-update.

 

Nice update, surprisingly runs pretty smooth considering the age of my system (i7, 1080 card). Still getting a few incorrect/extra/missing AWS warnings however, around the Euston end. Not a deal breaker though. Still feel the foliage seems a bit cartoony in TSW at the moment, not particularly UK-like foliage. I feel the older routes such as GWE, Somerset, NTP were better in this aspect.

 

Anyone tried the game pack stuff for it yet

I was going to purchase the wcml one only.
It's a route in real life I can't use often,wife gets ill on the Pendo, might change now they've got the Hitachi's.

Have you recieved the WCML update, there was a problem with it.

 

1 scenario and a couple of services so far on PS5. Enjoying it so far.

 

I have this issue too.

 

On PS5 and have had no lagging or crashes albeit I don't have the extra suffragette trains or custom designs. Did around 7 runs in and out of Euston with no problems.

 

It might be less work to actually scrap the route and remake it from scratch.

There are only so many times you can plaster over the cracks, before the entire ceiling collapses.

 

What scenario did you do

 

Probably because you can't hear the AWS alarm..another issue.
