In my opinion remasters have added much to routes, and am very mush looking forward to the Paddington to Reading remaster. Just wondering what people would like to see remastered next? My vote would be for Tees valley, updated lighting ect, and new timetable including drivable layers for the pacer, Non drivable layers including HSTs at Darlington, Whitby services at Middlesborough. What are other peoples thoughts?
NTP & East coastway are my picks for remasters, both pretty good routes that are unfortunately showing their age. I haven’t driven either of them in ages, at this point I have them for extra layers and AI on other routes
NTP or Tees Valley for sure. Though NTP personally should wait until the JT Mark Ones in blue/grey are out so they can be incorporated in the revised timetable. I would also say WCL but it's a bit of a grey area possibly for DTG to overhaul a third party route.
Main Spessart Bahn is definitely long past due for a makeover. It is literally digitally rotting with each iteration of TSW. It should not be the case that I can see untextured UE4 landscape from the cab of my train, yet it is very much possible. On the other hand, I would love to see a remaster of Ruhr Sieg Nord or Haupstrecke Rhein-Ruhr. For HRR, some ICE services would be nice, while RSG could receive more services at the Elverlingsen Power Plant.
Cologne-Aachen, or, if done absolutely well, even Munich-Augsburg would be a great choice for a remaster, especially since the latter is entirely bugged, an old as heck.
Brighton mainline. Great timetable for a route that is now outdated. lighting and scenery both need serious work
Already a thing, which is just releasing a game that no one wants every year. They won't FIX anything though.
WCL remastered would by far be one of the prettiest routes going in TSW. The next remaster I would to see would probably be Tees Valley as well.
They could do with some new and more varied/realistic foliage first, the newer routes are starting to all feel very similar.
Tees Valley sounds like a great idea. Main Spessart Bahn also really needs one but I'd rather see München - Augsburg or Rhein Ruhr Osten extended to Solingen. Ruhr - Sieg Nord to Siegen would be amazing too but I think that has been denied already.
Being realistic with remasters we are not going to get any route extensions, but for my mind the improved visuals and timetables making use of newer rolling stock. East coast way could be interesting. Class 700 on AI layers at Brighton Class 170 in southern livery masquerading as a 171 drivable on ashford Brighton services Class 387 on AI layers at Brighton Victoria Eastbourne services added between Lewes and Brighton can’t think of anything else that should go in
I still hold out hope for an updated London Commuter, mainly because the lack of Class 700s is very noticeable, especially considering the 700 is already in the game. I'd also be happy to see East Coastway updated. Mainly so DTG finally update the 377 sounds but it would also be very interesting seeing 171s, and potentially an extension to Hastings. Have to ask though, do 171s even run to Brighton anymore? When I travelled from Ashford to Brighton a couple of years ago I had to change to a 377 at Eastbourne.
Remastered Harlem Line with an extension to Southeast and an actual real Grand Central. I would pay $60 for that
Peninsula corridor is due for a paid remaster like LIRR 2.0, but I dont see any US route getting a free update aside from Matt's Clinchfield side project.
Clinchfield side project looks interesting, but I prefer Clinchfield in TSC for the additional variation of stock
Free*: West Somerset Cathcart** GWE (upcoming) SEHS Paid: LIRR NY Trenton*** *If owned already **GFX remaster free, timetable update requires DLC purchase of a loco ***Partial, some of the route was in TSW2020 only and wasn't "preserved"
I really am split as to which I would want next, TVL or NTP. I would love to choose between one of them but I can't, so, as long as it is one of these I'll be over the moon
TVL for me. Think the industries on that route need exploiting a lot more for gameplay. Easily release more loco packs to make that route a monster for freight movements. Upgraded class 31 by JT as well please.
I personally would really, really love to have Class 142 added into the Tees Valley Timetable, maybe with some additional freight services added in too with the latest era appropriate wagons.. i really do love that route so i'd vote for a TVL remaster!
East Coastway (even better if it came with an extension to Ore) or Brighton Main Line for me with some improved Class 700 sounds to boot
Northern Trans-Pennine Just Trains have already updated the class 08, 47 and 101. So all that's left to do is the class 40 and 45, plus the route scenery. Tees Valley Line Because it's a cool route, and a class 56 DLC would be nice.
I think Harlem Line can use a remaster and extension. It is still using ToD3, old platform displays that are not accurate, and can be brought up to Southeast at minimum. Scenery in the Harlem line can use a revamp in a number of areas.
Penn Corridor looks dated and would hugely benefit. Would also be good to get more routes connected to it over time
Thinking of Germany, RRO could benefit particularly if the rather abrupt gradient changes could be smoothed out without mangling the track database. Would also provide an opportunity to fix those G6 shunt trips that couldn’t be finished and complete its Journey.
1st: NTP In dire need of Tod4 lighting and lighting overall, the 2 major Cities are pitch black at night. The Pennines/Moors are in need of rework too, they look Playstation1 graphics. Timetable needs a complete rework with much more AI needed. I do however agree with OldVern in that it would be best waiting until JT's MK2 set and I would also add Athena's MK1 set are released to really bring this route to life. 2nd: TVL Although not too bad currently it needs Tod4 and an improved timetable, as OP mentions would love to see HST's flying through Darlington and of course some stoppers, again this would benefit from JT's and Athena's rolling stock releases.
I think people are a bit over-excited as to what remasters are and can do. No way is there going to be a remaster where they extend it 30-odd miles in the other direction, not without a significant rebuild of the original bit and a price for the customer.
yeah I don't expect an extension but it would be something to consider if it's being reworked to TOD4 and all. I would expect a price then. RRO for example would benefit from a TT update and TOD4 but some old routes like that need one or more big reworks in scenery too. I personally if I were a route editor say lets make it a bigger project, extend it (yes maybe doubling route length is too much but a branch line would be lovely) and for extended routes, actually get paid for the rework. My gripe is that I love the way SEHS got extended, the TT got added on to and the route lengthened. I think LIRR got to become a secondary route or Cathcart circle now having a terribly empty TT for the journeys and a correct one with a loco dlc. and no way to turn off the old or reduced versions because you need them for either the route itself or the M3 in the case of LIRR. Personally I'd love everything to be the same TOD and bug free but I'm glad progress is made everywhere on the game, albeit a bit slow and early access feeling like the 114 brakes. From reading the replies here I think there's a lot of request for TVL to be updated, sounds like a great plan or personal project, maybe even a combined work with the person who made a TT mod for it already since they did some research.
It can´t be saved in my view.... would have to be rebuilt in the current day form (new Spessart tunnel) and would need to go to Würzburg to be remotely interesting. Gemünden was always a nonsensical endpoint in the middle of nowhere. But that is a common problem with TSW routes and Main Spessart Bahn shows how long it has a been going on for...
Unfortunately Liam won't do any more remasters, so best we can hope for is a LIRR-style remake of older routes which will cost money but will also extend the route. For that I'd say BML/London Commuter is the prime candidate imo, with new lighting, a better timetable and extension to London Bridge it could be an absolutely excellent route.
Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr with a revived timetable, MSB in an LIRR Commuter-style extension to Fulda or Würzburg (or both) or NTP. West Cornwall as well if Rivet ever bother.
