I know Steam locos will be a long while but there is one loco that should be simple to create the BR Standards for BR Steam like the 7MT Britannia class as they were built at Crewe including 70000 Britannia heading trains between Crewe and Carlisle today she hauls railtours around the UK with MK2e coaches in BR Blood & Custard livery and Mk1s too and of course 70013 Oliver Cromwell that did the famous Fifteen Guinea special from Manchester to Carlisle via the S&C it would be fitting to have the Britannias in the Game on express trains between Crewe and Liverpool Lime Street

As much as I would love to see the Brits make their debut in TSW, It's never going to happen. DTG have said that Steam is off the books for the forseeable future.

A Brittania would be ideal for the Shap route too.

They can bury their head in the sand with steam but I know that there’s a competitor coming on the scene within the next year who will eat up some their market share if they don’t sort it out.

I did wonder yesterday.. what are the chances that the big announcement on Dec 20th which DTG have "been working on for a long time" is a steam-based DLC and that they have been secretly been working on steam in the background.. The only reason I think this is because I can't think what would be deemed exciting enough to benefit it's own special announcement as usually new DLCs and things are announced via the monthly roadmap

The "Big announcement on the 20th could be TSW6, with driverless monorail route with steam locos.

Think one person's big announcement is another person's big disappointment. People may be making it more than it's is, which could lead to uproar on the 20th.
Can't see it being steam, so I'll go with a 3rd party announcement.
They will advise that another 2 or 3 3rd parties have now been agreed and incorporated for future DLC content. Maybe a German and US team, with a hint at what they are working on.

I am sure I saw a post from a DTG team member telling people to lower their expectations but that may have been in general for the daily reveals we’ve had so far. Whatever the reveal on the 20th is, some will be happy and some won’t. I think it has to be something decent we haven’t heard about yet otherwise they might as well have just done a regular roadmap. Every chance IMO the whole campaign is just a way for DTG to expand their engagement through the various social media channels to catch the eye of potential new players while not ultimately satisfying the existing base.

I'm not excited for Friday's announcment, in fact I keep forgetting that Season Reveals exists until I see that DTG have uploaded a YT Short when I load up the YouTube app..

I've been playing TSW long enough to know that DTG will be 'really excited to announce' this announcement but in fact it will be end up being half-baked but yeah, you are right, whatever it is that they are announcing on Friday will have some people's support and some people's disliking..

A part of me is hoping the announcement is the return of steam with physics redone from the ground up, manual firing and AI visual effects fixed. Such a thing is the only thing that springs to my mind when it comes to "big announcement" as any route/loco reveal would just be a standard affair, not worth all the fuss they're giving it. The return of steam traction is very much something worthy of giving all the big attention to!

DTG are leaving money on the table by not making steam content, especially if they can attract the bigger TS Classic third party market over to TSW. There are third party devs on TSC that solely focus on steam locomotives and the only way DTG would be able to tempt them over to TSW is by giving them a solid simulation to make content off of.

Still, best to keep expectations in check until the 20th! It could end up being something unrelated to TSW, or even a multiplayer spin-off like the VR TSW game.

Would be amazing to get steam engines made by Caledonia Works but from what I know, CW doesn't want to sell their products over Steam. In relation to if the big announcment IS a TSW-spin off or something not related to TSW, wouldn't that usually benefit from a Dovetail Direct?
