Enough Is Enough Thomas And Friends Edition

Think it's been mentioned before.
Season of reveals was just a 15 day roadmap. The reveals were new info on what we already knew......maybe not in the spirit of what people expected, but new reveals they were.

 

People are just upset that it's not what they wanted and have no interest in it.

Because you know the game is made just for them and they have to like all DLC.

Can we say entitled much, so much coming and just because you don't like 1 DLC they are releasing lets start a firestorm.

It's DTG actively trolling their fanbase that people are upset about (and others find quite entertaining tbh).

They knew this would be the response and thought it would be funny.

 

Wow. The forum police/trolls are out in force today. Pity they cannot spell.
My point being, as you clearly missed it, is that those who want a perfectly accurate railway simulator need to look elsewhere. The genre is niche, and not easy to make money from.
As a business, DTG need to explore other avenues. This is one of them.

Yeah true I think there was a total of 3-4 real announcements, I'm just extremely disappointed as I expected around 5-10 new routes and trains from modders in the PC Editor Community to be published. Take a look at the Dusseldorf-Koln project on the forum and you'll see why my expectations were so high.

 

Those are big projects and may take yeaaaars I think. Johanes already had a lot of stuff prepared I think, it will come eventually but I think we are in for a long wait still (take a shot everytime you read "think")

 

And we didn’t get no new routes, locos and dlcs announcements in the reveals?

A Thomas the tank engine collaboration reveal and all that’s been revealed prior is forgotten about.

 

It's only Thomas and Diesel so ridiculous really all that big reveal for nothing

 

For me it's incredibly simple:

if this was one one the daily announcements in the build up the past few weeks, i don't think anybody would have had any problems with it. It would have been an interesting DLC for those who like the idea of this, then for the rest of us we move on to the next daily reveal.

the big, BIG, problem here is that this was THE big reveal. That is the problem here. We've been building up to some 'special reveal' on 20 December and myself and a lot of others who genuinely love the game and care about it's future path, have been massively let down.. not so much by the fact it's Thomas, but the way that we've been built up for Thomas to be this amazing, headline new direction for TSW.

That's the real problem here.

 

It's fine, we are nearly at 1500 so the actual announcement will be out soon. I am telling you this one has to be a joke...

 

Yeah I kind of wish we got James Percy and Gordon too. They could have done the whole gang to be honest xD.

I think its funny too. I love the announcement.

I have no interest in getting it whatsoever but it's there company and the game is not made for me specifically so I don't expect to buy/like everything.

But to say TSW is dead because of 1 DLC you don't like is way overboard. You got 20 other announcements.

And yes it is a Grand Reveal do you know how hard it is to aquire an IP as big as Thomas is in the world.

This is an absolute p***take, it's not Thomas that's the issue (I understand the need to draw in new players and I am sure that the DLC will do well on consoles as a great way of shutting up the kiddies) but it should NOT have been "the big reveal / special reveal / whatever the last reveal was billed as". The whole calendar thing was a disappointment with pretty much nothing new that wasn't on the existing older roadmaps or something that had been hinted at for a while, whoever decided to put Thomas as the final reveal frankly needs to go, they clearly can't read the room (I know we are not the easiest playerbase to read with the cries of demands from players all over the world).

Most of us / you grew up with Thomas the tank engine in one form or other. Most of you watched the Britt Allcroft series with Ringo Star narrating or listened to the audio versions of the stories. Some of you would have also read the Thomas the tank engine stories. I did and really enjoyed them.



Many a time reading my thomas the tank engine books when I was younger, with the slim slither of the light from the lampost from outside shining through the gap in my curtains (no wonder I have to wear glasses now). When the Americans came in and ruined it I fell out of love with it, my opinion. I still love reading the Thomas The Tank Engine books and watching the original Britt Allcroft series.

What is it that people are so pi peeved off with about the reveal?
The fact that it was'nt what you expected?
The fact that its Thomas the Tank Engine?

How many of you have been to a show where Dovetail had TSW or TSC on show. The few shows that I attended had smaller kids there asking if they could play with Thomas, Which the guys said they didnt have Thomas The Tank Engine they were disappointed.
I showed my great niece and Nephew my TSW games a few months ago when they visisted and my nephew was most upset that I didnt have Thomas the tank engine in TSW. I can now go and make him happy and tell him Thomas is coming to TSW.

At the end of the day its a good business move. It will hopefully get the younger generation more involved in Thomas the Tank engine and hopefully TSW further down the line. I think some of you need to see past the end of your nose and see the bigger picture.

I personally think this is a good move and look forward to taking Thomas & Annie And Clarable and maybe a couple of MK3's up Shap......

It was new, and its the only thing US players have to look forward to early in the next year.

From the DLC idea itself to the advertising, this is a complete blunder from DTG.

Customer expectations have been brutally mismanaged with the whole "big christmas reveal" being something that none of the core audience wanted. The DLC also destroys the illusion of the game being any sort of realistic simulator, which is the only thing keeping a lot of us here instead of making the transition to better simulator games like SimRail. To put it simply, this DLC choice is not "on brand".

Additionally, people get extremely annoyed when they see their hard earned money being wasted on a useless venture that will benefit no one. I'm not just taking about the customer base, but also the more involved shareholders who may be disappointed in yet another DLC that takes resources away from more profitable ventures.

Every little stunt like this drives people closer to obtain the game illegitimately (I assume using the p word would get me banned).

At the end of the day DTG can and will do whatever they want. Personally, I am excited for next year's christmas reveal of Hello Kitty's Amazon Warehouse Simulator.

As I've already said on a few other threads, this was certainly a deflating and disappointing end to the Season of Reveals...

I honestly thought it was a joke to start with... It just suggests to me the direction to game could be heading for. These stupid novelty things get on my nerves. This is for children? Why would anyone in their right mind be excited for this. TSW VR got it's own separate game... Why not have a TSW for children that caters for that? It's just seems this is possibly the gateway of things to come for TSW... "Let's expand a simulator game for kids... ". It just seems nothing more then a silly novelty item in a simulator game... Like having JayJay the Jet Plane Microsoft Flight Simulator. I just personally feel this is a bad decision on DTGs behalf and feels like a detriment to the game.

I really get the disappointment though, as much as others are adamant this is fun... It's really not. I also know were weren't promised anything specific, but no one could of guessed they wanted to add a children's add on as a big reveal for a simulator game?

Not even an attempt to maybe create something that caters for the adults who play the game to go alongside this which would have been a better approach?

Anyway on the theme of ridiculous things, and aiming at the children's end of gaming, I might go and dress up as Minnie Mouse in GTA5 and go have a massacre online...

 

The fact they were excited about it when revealing it says it all about the direction the game seems to be heading in

 

It's implied that the post is just my opinion, I don't need to state it outright and you're welcome to disagree. I am happy to be proven wrong if this DLC becomes a success, but we've already seen how the toy train DLCs tend to sell...

 

I´ve been concerned with the direction of this game for a while with half-length routes, uninspired gameplay packs, buggs and core issues. This is the final straw for me today. I´ve always spent more time on TSC, but now I will be going back to the "boring small TSC community" full time. TSW is not only a cashgrab, it´s now also become a joke today. I don´t have time and money for silly jokes, trolling and waiting around for TSW to become the game, I want it to be.

A fine line between opinion and speaking for others admittedly. It is a case of you not liking it and that is obviously fine. Many others do though, which is also fine.

 

Why can’t kids be introduced to a train sim though?

Maybe some of them have played the Roblox edition and the Thomas dlc will peak their interest even more.

Yes, but the demographic that Roblox and Thomas is aimed it isn’t the same as TSW, my youngest cousins have tried tsw and he couldn’t get any idea of how to use it, even after showing him so I’m not sure who this pack is aimed at or why it even exists

 

So to be clear, not only is it my opinion that I don't personally like the add-on, it's also my opinion that most of the core audience doesn't like the add-on, based on the forum response that I have seen. I am not claiming this to be a fact as there is no study or poll conducted to actually prove it.

I hate to repeat what I said before, but there is no need for a disclaimer at the beginning of my post saying "This is my opinion" because it is implied by the context of the situation.
