The disgrunteled male age 12-18 demographic would scoop it up in an instant.

Lego would be great. Imagine making your own train and rolling stock to run on a Lego trainset you've just made.

I know you think you're being clever, but you've just unintentionally came up with a good idea.

The whole thing feels like an out of touch, out of season April fool's joke. I have a hard time believing they're for real with this. What a s*** show.

Always had the feeling it would be a niche route (like Holiday Elf) so not disappointed at all on this announcement.

If anything I am pleasantly surprised, especially since DTG now have a strong brand to work with in Thomas (and Mattel)

I know my youngest daughter will love playing this, and will be an experience we can share playing together :).

Also the inevitable negative backlash from the sim enthusiasts will work on DTG's favour, as it is getting people talking about it (similar to when Jaguar did their recent rebrand). Plus the reactions provide great entertainment for those of us who genuinely don't mind this announcement.

It is a good idea. Plenty of other companies have jumped on the Lego brand. Look at how popular Forza Horizon Lego collab was.
I can see this coming in the future tbh.

    Explain in detail.
Take a breath, get past the emotion, and use your words to reasonably convince people.

I still remember when Lego had their own "Rock Band" spin off, which turned out to be quite enjoyable and added some fun songs to the Rock Band catalogue when imported into the main game.

Well Jaguar didn't release anything good to build on the "talking" so it was a disaster.
This is actually a very popular product and a demographic that would actually buy it (again, unlike Jaguar)

It's more like selling themed Monopoly sets.
They generate sales, but you can still play the old Monopoly you have on your shelf.

I still play Rock Band 4 on Xbox. With over 2500 dlc and countless peripherals. Crazy to think how much I spend on that game over the years since the release of RB1.

Yeah the Lego RB game was a blast and it has a killer playlist. Ghostbusters is a lot of fun on drums especially the drum solo :)
I hope they announce Rock Band 5 one day.

I also have YARG installed on my PC to play custom songs.

Don't even get me started on Jaguar, in fact they have made Dovetail's marketing team look not too bad with their adventure.

That's true. The old stop-motion models were vastly better than the cheesy CGI.

Not my bag but will introduce a younger demographic to the game. I shall sit patiently and await the 86 and Manchester route. No one is being forced to buy it and sales will drive whether or not it was a successful punt on DTG'S behalf

Not one picture had steam being omitted though. Could be the Tesla version of Thomas.

As I just said in another thread, at least that might have gotten us grown ups a GWR Hall loco in its proper guise, to play with.

There's been a leak of what the first add on to accompany the Thomas DLC will be... (Credit to the TSW Community page on Facebook for the image!)

If they get Ringo on board... I would love nothing more than to get him narrating a scenario involving Cows just to hear him give us his sad "moooooo" lol

Yeah the seeing the mental breakdown this has caused in grown men around here is amusing.

You summed up what this DLC will be good for - I have an almost 4 year old and he watches me play TSW with interest, but can't do much beyond accelerating and SPADing. He loves Thomas so he will like playing around with this. I can see why its not for everyone though.

I totally agree a Sodor map would have been cool. It would have been a simple enough map to make because its not like it would need to be accurate to any real life locations.

Like it could’ve been so much worse. At least it’s not Barbie girl or something silly like that.

If this collab does well I reckon we’ll see more collabs, which equals more tantrums.

I doubt Mattel will like a DLC with bugs and crashes.

The youngsters shouting for their parents "muuuum daaaaad it's gone wrong again!!!

On a side note, wonder if DTG would just spin this partnership into its own game/bundle tied to it.

Kind of like how they did with the GBRJ on TSC for a bit.

They’re owned by Focus Entertainment, so anything is possible. All depends on how well Thomas sells.

Imagine a collab with Warner Bros and we got a Hogwarts/Harry potter style route. For TSW or a standalone game. I’d buy it.

The Michael Portillo programs were only vaguely related to railways. Mostly daft side quests via the Bradshaw's guide.

Seriously, I swear on this DLC, the stats will be different making Thomas more likely to crash whilst driving, due to the lack of health and safety on Sodor.

I wouldn't say that about the company who greenlit Thomas Wood.

Unless it's Barbie everything I've heard is Mattel's extremely hit or miss with their handling of things.

As I said in another thread, Harry Potter could potentially give a GWR Hall for the real game.

Also interesting how DTG would condense the journey from Kings Cross to Lochailort within the real world constraints of TSW route building.

So since DTG has started to become a bit like Fortnite in doing collabs, anything could happen from now as you said. We could see collabs like Lego, Chuggington, Polar Express and the Bullet Train movie in this game as well as Harry Potter (although all these collabs happening at once is extremely unlikely).

Jon Voight in Runaway Train. Well at least then we would get an Alaska route!
Or Snowpiercer of course, I mean they have worked with Sean Bean in the past.

Ironic how the title includes the word "railways" when little focus is paid to them.

They literally killed the Thomas franchise and rebranded it into plastic rubbish.

I’m glad for this. I’m in the US, where Thomas isn’t as big a deal as it is in the UK, but I think this is great. And I laugh at the outrage. I can’t believe the reaction of people on social media.

Best thing Michael Portillo did, when he was Secretary of state for transport , was help stop the Settle to Carlisle line being closed.
