I have found you to be very helpful (which is why I usually send you a PM every few weeks with things I need help with ). I think KrisKol probably has taken some things you've said in the wrong way in the past - that said, I think he has the right of reply for any 'evidence', although that is perhaps best kept out of this thread.
What the...... I iiii I just wanna die now..... Thanks, thanks for making me fell like Im a useless person.....
Wow. I cannot believe this. Earlier today I was gonna make a post about how you didn't make personal attacks and usually were one of the few who you could have an actual intelligible conversation with. Guess I was wrong, this is hands down the most offensive, most repulsive comment I've ever read in this forum. Literally earlier today you said "I don't make personal attacks," and yet, here you go, making a personal attack. Now I didn't agree with a lot of things others have said about you in this thread before today, but, my god, they were 100% right. I don't care if you've been an angel before this, this singular post in my opinion should result in a lifetime ban. I'll leave that up to DTG to decide. Reported, and blocked.
Good morning folks, The recent posts in this thread have been highly inappropriate and harmful. I've taken steps after the most recent toxic posts and I suggest that everybody takes a step away and cools off before returning to a hopefully more respectful discussion. I'd also like to make a few things very clear: This forum is a place for everyone, no matter their sexuality, religion, neurodivergency or any other kind of background or worldview that might differ from your own. Freedom of speech does not give you a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card, and if you are being called out for insulting language that's not "wokeism". Comments that dismiss people’s identities, such as mocking gender pronouns or belittling those with mental health conditions, are not tolerated here. It’s important that all members are treated with respect, and personal attacks have no place in any conversation. We want this to be an environment where everyone feels safe and valued, and that means avoiding discriminatory or inflammatory language. All the best, Jan
I've played tsw for 5 years, ever since I joined the forums I've had mostly good experiences, but a few members have had me ready to delete my account permanently. You can't even make a joke over there without people hating like it's the end of the world because of someone. It's utterly stupid. A few members on there I swear are hateful just because they can. They need to better theirselves. At least a few people on here actually care. Everyone else is just neutral or negative. Everyone also is way too either pessimistic or egotistical. I genuinely wanted to leave at points, but people have told me not to, thus I stayed. People need to be more kind. That's all I'm saying.
If I get fed up with a forum I stop using it. I don't think there's any need to delete your account, unless you think the site's information security is poor. People should be thoughtful and respectful, but this is the internet, so they're not. The only time I've seen it happen is with very strict and clearly explained moderation and frequent 7 day bans (or longer) for anything getting close to bad behaviour. Participants quickly learn then, or go elsewhere.
It was beginning to LOVE me off, all it is around here is causing trouble where it's not needed and and wasting moderators time on bs that's not needed.
How many of us wouldn't get a wee bit personal when defending ourselves from a personal attack? Without seeing all that was written, and the context in which it was written, no-one can decide who was wrong, or wrong-er.
Look at Jan's reply and the little bit of that message still left quoted by BlacknRed for context. That should tell you everything that was said in it. If that's not enough, try checking the Wayback machine.
You're seeing it in the context of an insult, but it could be just a factual observation taken out of context by selective quoting.
I have had diagreements with Spikee1975 on the TSW forums before, but never have I felt personally attacked. We disagree on things and he always makes valid arguments for his point of view as I do as well I hope. I actually enjoy our exchanges. After all we are talking about games here, which is not something that should make one angry. If it does then you need to find something else. That being said I purchased TSC this Xmas and a whole crapload of DLC. As I just got a PC. I like it but coming from TSW on a series X to TSC the physics I find is different and not as well made. But I'm sure I'll get used to it in time. I also miss timetable mode the in cab lighting could use work. But I do like the longer routes and more complex driving with steam and US frieght. Is there something I can download to help with the physics? Any specific add ons I should be getting for enhancements to the game? But it feels like a suped up version of MSTS which I loved.
The physics are largely defined by the particular DLC you are driving. Some are very accurate, others less so. What are your interests?
Im just gonna leave this as context before going on hiatus. All I said that any evidence against Spike "should" be left in the past and buried. For some reason, he decided to use that message to send a tirade against me to the point it damn near had me shanking and thinking of of suicide last night on top of some other thing again the other guy, and some message about Trump doing something to mental health people. AFAIK DTG, Me, Spike and mfleets were the only people who saw the message, its moot since it was clearly deleted by DTG mods before everyone else saw. Either way, I don't feel safe anymore here, so I probably wont return in the future.......
It all depends on what you're driving. DTG DLC in TS is largely terrible; the game shines when you're playing with third party content.
I believe Armstrong Power still has a sale on. If you are driving UK DLC the weather enhancement is a no brainer. It improves the graphics.
Also the AP Midland line is very good. Some excellent free stuff in Netherlands also. Full Western Mainlines pack from Justtrains lets you run 300 miles in one run. Penance to Paddington. ATS can also let you combine 4 DLCs into a whopping 400 mile Kings Cross to Waverley single run.
Very sorry you had to deal with that. Hopefully you're able to take Jan's message to heart and feel safe to return at some point.
Just saw all of this...and also ive decided im going to regress away from these forums too..from now on i will only read the forum s that provide helpful information ,and answer or ask questions if i have about the gameplay etc..i have also concluded from here on out with all 3 train sim games i play current and in future ,,,i will just play each game for what they are , each game has it good and bad points ..from here i would just like all game developers to do better and make their games and content better ,more fun and enjoyable acessable to everyone no matter their age skill level etc ..i am regressing getting away from other stuff in life things just not going too well in the world we all live in...its sad but have to do to save what sanity i have left...
Indeed. Sometimes best just to take a break from the forum or recognise when a thread is going south. Never be afraid to back off or tell yourself it’s not worth keyboard warrioring over what after all is just a game. And yes, there have been times when I haven’t taken that advice myself. And if the train games, whether TSC or TSW or any of the others start to get wearing, do what I am doing and go off to play the truck sim, Flight Sim or X-Plane or even load up one of the Egosoft X games for a bit of Galaxy building.
In the end train simulation is a solo game. I see it more as a collection and am methodically working through them. I use the forum to get tips and provide what I have learnt. I do not have any great expectations and am happy with what I have. I started this thread as I was amazed at how much trauma and ill feeling I saw on TSW. It seemed crazy to me that so many people get upset about so little. We each have our own crosses to bear in real life. Simulation should be an escape for real life challenges. Sadly it appears that it can bring out the worst in some people. Take care
If you don't feel save time to go if you don,t feel save on a trainsimulator forum best wishes and speedey recovery
As you know Kilt, we have enough content in TSC of high quality to see out our lifetimes. Keep the 3rd party gorgeousness coming, though.
No, he requested his account be deleted after a few members decided to witch hunt him because they had hurt feelings, hope they're happier now. Imo this forum has lost out irreparably.
If you had actually seen what he said you'd be wishing he'd been banned, it was the most singularly vile message I have ever seen here. No matter his knowledge or prior contributions to this forum, if the forum admins chose to allow him to remain here it would be a gross dereliction of their duties and the forum is far better off with him permanently gone.
So far as TSW is concerned, someone just posted a list of content we should be getting excited about in 2025, in the Enough Is Enough Thomas thread. A couple of short commuter routes, electric bus service around Manchester using a recycled EMU and a tiny portion of the Cardiff Valley network. At least two items on the list are pretty much vapourware in my eyes, until proved otherwise. My disillusionment with TSW has had the beneficial effect of checking out other titles like Derail Valley and Railroader. In addition I just reinstalled the Mass Effect Trilogy which, if I get hooked on a back to back playthrough, will take a couple of months. TSW is like a flawed addictive drug. It can be hard to break the habit, but once you do it feels so much better.
Firstly I never said anywhere that any comments made by anyone were acceptable or otherwise, you've just instantly jumped on me with an assumed opinion based on your own over defensiveness. Secondly I did indeed see what Spikee wrote and I strongly believed that it was intentionally taken out of context, was it tactful? No! Was it discriminatory? No! Could it have been worded better to be less offensive? Yeah, quite probably. I have no axe to grind or grudge to bear, I have a right to an opinion and my opinion is that Spikee was unfairly lambasted and the community has lost a great asset because of it.
I see no way calling a user trying to defend you mentally ill can in any way be 'taken out of context' to unfairly target spikee. His actions were vile, and any who defends those actions need to take a long hard look at themselves and what they consider acceptable behavior on a public forum. In regards to his prior contributions to the community there is no denying he was a talented modder, but being talented should never insulate anyone from the consequences of their actions. While my prior post may be forceful and perhaps rude, I stand by it for you and anyone else defending his actions.
Based on the messages of each individual you can mostly deduct their personality and psychiatry. I have only seen one bad message by him, whereas there are many constantly stirring the pot. I find it a bit sad how few people remain here over time. I have a couple old threads bookmarked and compared to the buzz of activity back then, it's nearly eerie silence. I think it's because there is too much sour and negativity. There are a few beacons who try to show how TSC can be enjoyed, future proofed, fixed. Extinguish them and all that remains is hellfire. Happiness isn't mandatory but when somebody only complains and in blunt and nasty ways, that's a bad relationship. Also, fight fire with fire. Persistent toxicity deserves a toxic response.
I'm sad to see this forum come to this. Old men defending someone for calling a user mentally ill and hypocritically bemoaning toxicity at the same time. Shame. Shame on all of you and your support of insults beyond the pale. Shame on your hypocrisy. Shame on your callousness, laughing at the effect spikee's words had on blacknred simply because according to you spikee had contributed more mods. If any of you wonder why this forum is toxic, look in the mirror, maybe then you'll see.
Actually Doctor Trenchcoat - I think that you have also just overstepped the mark. Lets be clear about this. Persoinal insults either specific or generalised to the whole comunity are out of order. You don't know me so you don't have any basis on which to decide my character.
Hey people. Just stop it. Perpetuation is also a form of toxic behavior. In the interest of the comunity i have requested that this thread be nuked.
Who's laughing? Your argument is with you, it's with the voice in your head, it's called your imagination, you're creating or at least expanding scenarios in your head and you're letting it run away with itself. Reel it in Doc, you're only hurting yourself.
That's more than fair tbh, the thread should've been nuked after initial altercation. In regards to my action, no matter my disgust I should have better kept my temper in check with the people supporting spikee.
Apologies for continuing the off topic discussion about Spikee but I must agree with triznya.andras, I am saddened to see how this forum has become a lot more toxic over the years (like the internet as a whole to be honest) and I have found myself participating less and less now only really having a care towards the screenshot threads as that's where people seem to be the most friendly and enthusiastic here instead of getting very despicable over disagreements. Kim Oleson is also correct; I fear it's simply a cycle that perpetuates itself increasing to more and more toxicity over the years. For example one toxic comment can lead others to either agree and become toxic themselves or someone who disagrees with it simply becomes more sour themselves and it may even lead to themselves becoming toxic towards others and it just sort of seems to grow and grow. Yes, Spikee was helpful to the community but DrTrenchcoat is most definitely in the right here, what she said was correct in my opinion and Spikee’s post was unacceptable regardless of the circumstances of the buildup in this thread. It's a stretch to say it wasn't discriminatory, it was obviously insinuating ill will to many minorities out there which is undoubtedly discriminatory no matter which way you look at it. You may obviously hold your own political opinions but there is a point where it gets vile on both sides of the spectrum and I feel that point was reached the other day. I hope we can avoid situations like this in the future...
Sorry about that; I was ignorant there. Thanks for the correction. I’ve edited it the post now so it’s corrected. No harm meant, I am too used to people on this side of the forum and the interest / hobby in general being male which is admittedly a frustrating repeated mistake of mine!
