I suspect that it would not have been necessary to cut the timetable for XBS as much as was done shortly before the release. In my opinion, this is a reaction to the constant crashes, which in my opinion have nothing or relatively little to do with the amount of AI traffic. But since DTG obviously has no well-founded explanation for the crashes, the timetable was cut. I understand that they did not use the ICE 1, because it really is very resource-hungry. But why the 111 was not integrated into the existing timetable as a substitute is also a mystery to me. And there are crashes on this timetable too, even though the Flixtrain and the second locomotive for regional traffic are missing. Unfortunately, DTG has not commented on these issues at all so far.
No, crashes happen to be in every timetable (standard, 101 Expert, BR111), especially between Frankfurt Süd and Hbf, at Hanau but also on various spots between Hanau and Fulda. I’m used to save the game every 10 Minutes so that I can resume after a crash. But this is immersion breaking. The game crashes often, nearly once at every journey.
still OUT OF MEMMORY starting from Frankfurt (xbox x 1444p, no hdr, static weather) shamefull situation
Made my first run with the 114 today and experienced failing brakes in the "Pull!" scenario while approaching Frankfurt Süd from Frankfurt Hbf. You take over the 114 from an AI driver who brings the loco into the station. Before departing, I tested the brakes and noticed that the HHL was holding at 5 bar but dismissed it. Had to apply the emergency brakes to get any effect. When releasing the brakes, the HHL stayed at around 4 bar before returning to 5 at full release.
That scenario drove me insane for the same reason; I finally found out the cause. Inexcusably, when you gain control of the train the brake key in the Steuerwagen is still turned on, which locks out the brake controls in the loco (other than full emergency)
Oh well, I only checked if the brake key was still on in the other cab of the 114, which wasn't the case, and I didn't think about the cab car. Good to know, thanks.
Ok, so I assume it’s only an issue on scenarios then?! Explains why I have never experienced it myself, though…
Having the BR 111 gameplay pack, I wanted to do some services in the Bnrdzf cab car. Sadly, the RE51 (15549) from Schlüchtern to Fulda at 05:35 can't be completed, since it immediately fails upon starting. Apparently I've overrun a red signal... without even moving. The other service from Schlüchtern to Fulda at 05:17 doesn't have this issue, works fine. While we're at it, there are still no award points being added for active safety systems while using the Bnrdzf on Frankfurt-Fulda.
I tried the Cabcar n-Wagen and even though I activate Sifa, it tells me that it is not active and it doesn't give me points for safety systems with the time pad... am I doing something wrong, or is there a bug?
Hi DTG Alex For the 423, their isn't a climb up objective when it comes to the passenger doors. If I want to be a passenger, I have to climb via the driver's cab. Could this be sorted as it really is an issue.
I‘m so disappointed, hoped that yesterdays patch would include some improvements for the crash issue. But nothing happens. What’s the matter, DTG?
(PC/Steam) Just tried a simple run with BR 642 from Hanau to Frankfurt, which ended about half way through with a UE crash. Previous run from Frankfurt to Hanau worked fine (No mods or other edits). Not sure if it's since the latest patch but there seems to be an AP/safety systems bug where for part of the journey it will score you as if you have a system off. For example I have done a couple of runs in the BR 101 and when you get to an LZB section it thinks you have switched off PZB and so scores you without safety systems on only to then start scoring you normally when you come out of the LZB section.
Just had a crash after frankfurt sud on the approach to Frankfurt hbf. I was doing a fulda to Frankfurt ice t service (xbox series s)
Currently doing a run on the potato (PC) which I will resume this evening. Thus far going from Fulda towards Frankfurt it has held up. However in addition to the usual hitches I have had some outright pauses for several seconds where the display freezes though ironically the sound continued without distorting! Could be shaders recompiling after my enforced mini reinstall following the patch wrecking something, but I guess the moment of truth will come later at Frankfurt and how it performs on a subsequent run.
Update... made it into Frankfurt and able to finish the run without the potato crashing. However, frame rate on approach to the Hbf was utterly appalling, just jerking along. Something is really dragging the performance of this game now, possibly as postulated previously the "new" 2D map chugging along in the background. But still DTG don't seem to want to let us know what, if anything, they're doing about it. A start might be allowing players the option of going back to the old simpler map.
I'm afraid that new maps with the theme of large hub stations and heavy traffic are beyond the scope of TSW's capabilities...... perhaps a project of something smaller, with nevertheless interesting and attractive traffic and rolling stock, would be a good choice
Well OldVern and vendys#6021, I think, based on how my performance is with this route post patch, we are seeing the game beginning to leave behind not only first gen consoles but older pcs. I am seeing my fps drop into the 40's at Frankfurt but in the mid 50's+ most other times. What DTG is trying to do as far as overall AI and player trains, as well as other in game assets, is really loading up everyone's processors, both gpu and motherboard. I am running a good gaming machine with Processor AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16-Core Processor 4.20 GHz Installed RAM 64.0 GB (63.2 GB usable) nVidia 4090 graphics card ssd on board drive
I’m all but certain the new map places a heavy strain on the system for some reason. I haven’t checked recently, but when TSW5 was new, I could pretty reliably crash the game by leaving the map open for some minutes. And that wasn’t on an intense map like Frankfurt - Fulda, it was on Vorarlberg. If Frankfurt - Fulda is a sign of things to come, they’re leaving behind gen 9 consoles as well. I find it rather disheartening that DTGs’ attitude to crashes seems to have changed from them being unacceptable to them being par for the course by now. A route should never crash routinely out of the box on standardised console hardware.
What annoys me is that TSW runs poorly even on good hardware and with frequent FPS drops, whereas TSW4 actually ran pretty smoothly. Even on the PS5 there are still crashes! So something is generally wrong with the optimization of the game. What is really being done about it? Not enough! I rarely play TSW these days because it really annoys me that after every update and every new version it gets worse instead of better.
PS5 Pro console Playing TSW has really become more of a desperate search for a way to enjoy it... and that's really not possible For me, it's just a search for something that would at least work a little....... so I deleted it completely and tried this I installed the basic TSW 5 Installing these maps: Frankfurt - Fulda Salzburg Rosenheim Hauptstrecke Rhein Ruhr Ruhr Sieg Nord LGV Mediteranee S-Bahn Vorarlberg Niedertalbahn Tharandarter Rampe (added substitution BR185.2 Railpool and blue BR 363) Addon BR101 BR155 BR363 RP Vectron Gamepack Frankfurt (BR111) Practically, I was looking for the Frankfurt - Fulda map now..... unfortunately, more add-ons started to cause noticeable blurring..... This variant, tested on several trips with ICE-T on both timetables (Basic and BR111), seems stable so far and without noticeable attempts at blurring ...... even on the way within Dostos I checked the external textures and even after arriving in Frankfurt they were sharp ...... the ICE-T cockpit is also no problem ....... but it is a sad state of operation ... no more ICE 1 (3), no BR425, no Desiro etc ....... only BR628 on the RB12 line and TGV in Frankfurt from freight trains we managed to add trains with cars, and a couple of trains with Eanos cars. Container trains form the basic operation, so they are there.... So if anyone is in the mood to try and test it, go ahead and give me any info. The possibility that a situation will arise and the texture will blur somewhere again is not ruled out.
I think at this stage it is time someone from DTG stepped forward with an honest admission what has gone wrong with the game since TSW5 and made worse by recent patches. And their action plan to fix it. The wall of silence is quite appalling, except of course when putting on silly headphones to try and sell mediocre DLC or waffling on about a certain blue toy engine.
OldVern, even with the high end system I am running, Hanua pulls me down to around 40 from the normal 55+ I run most of the route. I can see how older systems would suffer.
a question for the more knowledgeable - I am playing 146.2, Frankfurt Fulda version, on Dresden Riesa, and noticed a strange thing... when in restricted mode 45 kph, if you dont release it, it seems to limit speed to 45 kph, like it cuts power... is this supposed to behave like that or is this some bug?
ICE (595) BR401- blurry textures arising and finnaly freez and CTD 1 1km before Hanau. Flagship route is performance garbage... (XboxX btw )
PS5 I drove a service from Frankfurt to Fulda with an n-Wagen Cabcar, I arrived without any problems, although I think the brakes in particular are a bit wild.....then I let it continue freely and in about 12 minutes I was leaving back from Fulda to Frankfurt, I changed my position from Cabcar to BR111 and on the way I found that my brakes were still hanging slightly.......what did I do wrong? or a bug?
I experienced something like this yesterday. Did an express service (can't recall the number... RE 15568 perhaps?) from from Frankfurt to Frankfurt Süd and then from Hanau to Fulda on the Bnrdzf cab car. The service is split, because it seems to travel from Frankfurt Süd to Hanau on the northern route, instead of the southern one depicted in the game. Upon arrival at Fulda, the train is scheduled to go back to Frankfurt empty, and I wanted to do that. So I deactivated the cab car, moved to the 111 and started the journey back to Frankfurt. Soon I started noticing that everytime I put the loco in idle, brake pressure went up to about 1 bar on its own, resulting in a noticeable drag. As soon as I moved the throttle back up, the pressure subsided again. This continued over the whole route. Yesterday I just thought I simply missed something while deactivating the cab car, although I'm quite confident that I did it properly. Now that you mention it too... there seems to be an underlying issue going on. Ah, and on a sidenote... yes, the n-Wagen do have some pretty angry brakes, but actually that's quite close to the original. Can't even count how many times I've gotten thrown around by them as a kid on my way to school
It was also happening to me while driving, a really annoying "feature". And I would almost guess that it will probably behave similarly with Dostos on this new map .......
I just noticed that there are quite a few empty stock movements that have been correctly named and separated into parts just like playable services, but without making them available to us. For example, the 3 o’clock RE50 (4520) move is sitting in the FF Abstellung sidings west of the approach to Frankfurt main station and would surely be an exciting ride, weaving through both static and moving stock towards the station. But there’s an arbitrary invisible wall a bit east of it (even though that entire area has been modeled to a high standard), and I guess that’s why they had to remove it from the player timetable
For those who have the editor: it is definitely worth to load in the FTF map to get a look on it. The north route (via Frankfurt Ost), the S-bahn route (underground from Frankfurt Hbf towards Hanau) and the South route (via Offenbach - available in game) are fully functional. I haven't checked the scenery on the non-accessible routes, but this might be food for a future extension once the stability issues have been solved. This would allow us to operate the RB58 and RE54/55 services between Frankfurt Hbf and Hanau according to their real life timetables, along with plenty of other S-bahn and freight services. That would give us gameplay and a "network feel" route that is unseen in TSW to this date.
Crashed again yesterday Ona morning ice run. It was only a short 15 minute journey but it crashed to desktop on series x seemingly with no traffic somewhere close to Hanau
Very interesting! I wonder if this was the original plan, to release the route as more of an urban network, at least in the Frankfurt-to-Hanau area. Otherwise, why go the extra mile to make these branches fully functional after all? Perhaps, the ever-present deadline robbed us of some very interesting gameplay by literally cutting this short. Fingers crossed for an extension/completion at some point, but my hopes aren't up too high...
I fear that their "fix" for this will be just disabling layers for all Consoles.. even Gen9.. while they announce that they are working on a solution to fix the problem within the core game. The crashes are unacceptable on a standardized hardware console. They need to adress it somehow.
Due to the fact that even on the much shorter Mannheim - Kaiserlautern route, layers were removed for the Gen9 Xbox Series S (of course without announcing this beforehand), I no longer believe that Frankfurt - Fulda will ever be fixed as far as the crashes are concerned. The solution is probably to sit out the problem and wait for everything to be forgotten due to new routes. By the way - Mannheim - Kaiserslautern is a real nightmare on my XBS in terms of performance. Micro-stuttering and poor frame rates on the entire route, it's no fun! Routes like Vorarlberg or Salzburg - Rosenheim have shown you how smooth it can be. But TSW5 has probably gotten worse in every respect.
Quite an interesting tinfoil hat theory, in that I wonder if DTG themselves realised Frankfurt is a very fragile area. Two Journey runs I’ve just done, one with the Flixtrain and the other with “Mind The Gap” scenario have started at Hanau heading towards Fulda, leaving Frankfurt out. Though touch wood, apart from the core induced stutters etc., I have now done a couple of runs on the route without issue (potato PC). Strangely enough the route does grow on you and of the recent crop of German/Austrian releases (not having bought Ludwig) it has crept up my “like” list. Good long run, bit of gradient and speed challenge, with something of a Zusi feel.
I play nothing else (ok some SRM runs with the 101 Ex) than this route since 700 hours ... I need help
The same goes for me. This route has something about it that just makes it likable. I included it into my route roster just recently, when the 111 gameplay pack arrived, since most of the other rolling stock there just isn't my cup of tea. And in the course of a month, this route has wound its way into my heart. Sure, it's got a bag of bugs and issues (when approaching Frankfurt, I ran into a traffic jam three times last week alone), but it's rich in variety and is fun to drive in both directions. It never feels boring, which honestly can't be said for all German routes.
two things: 1. As I mentioned, I have recently done a couple runs with 146.2 from this route on other routes, mainly Dresden Riesa... I have noticed that if you start under restrictive mode aka 45 kph limit and you dont release it, it cuts power at around 40-45 kph and only releases it once this is released (there are sections on the route where it isnt the best idea to release from PZB as that puts you into Zwangsbremsung danger on upcoming magnets)... is this prototypical or some AFB/PZB bug that crept into this version of the loco? 2. The slight bug on 411 that happens when you are under LZB supervision and AFB is slowing down for you (usually manual braking is preferred but under LZB I sometimes like to let AFB slow the train down, especially towards the end of LZB section) - if you have some throttle applied, it cuts throttle as if you were braking manually... is this prototypical or it shouldnt happen? If it is a bug, I am baffled as to why they let it sit there as 411 was one of the poster trains of TSW5
Spoke too soon re my luck with this route. Just went to start an ICE run from Frankfurt to Fulda and as soon as the run loaded and I clicked the bar to get started, crashed to desktop.
When spawning in on foot at 2:15 am at Frankfurt the game says:signal passed at danger. Then it closes and I can replay or go to the menu. Ps5
The gameplay pack for Frankfurt Fulda cab car first 2 timetable feel so short when I I used all safety system. I get gold medals instead of the platinum. That needs to be fixed or something. That’s not right
