I started to watch the METROLINK stream the train looked really and train sounds was good to buy my big disappointment was no engine room detail again why. I am sorry I feel if I am going to buy a loco now I would like the engine room and as much detail as possible example the crocodile train. Also no new services it's a shame I love dovetail but I will not be buying this loco I am gutted I love American locos but I feel that dovetail has missed out here. Pls add engine rooms more details then I will buy the locos I would pay more sorry I hate being negative but this put me off stream and I turned it off. I will be buying the route looks amazing.

Engine rooms take up dev time and budget. Plus it also has to be up to a certain detail for it to be acceptable. But like i said previously, it's still extra dev time and cost which can be better spent on the actual stuff required to operate the train.

It wouldn't really add much new services anyway because so few exist and it's not the main traction that runs today. It substitutes so you can have some more replay value

For once you and I agree! As being discussed in the ATS thread, developing content for TSW takes inordinately longer than for TSC or old MSTS. The whole process seems to hang on a very fine line of economic viability and a red line has to be drawn under what can be done before release. The Krokodil for Mittenwaldbahn comes across very much as a Labour of love for the team responsible and financial reward probably not the primary incentive.

I would also like to see more engine rooms. Personally I would prefer the DLC be sightly more expensive but include more detail, including the engine room. The class 87, Krokodil and Expert BR 101 all come in DLC more expensive than average, but I think they are more than worth it because of the extra effort put into them

I hope we see an American loco with the same level as detail as those one day, though realistically the best chance for that is a third party, or modders (though console users would be out of luck)

Pretty much. Lukas talked about that in the German stream. The 1020 was the primary motivation for doing the route. Some at TSG, like Lukas, do it as a side hustle because they love what they do and can therefore invest the time. Others work at TSG full time and Lukas described the difficulty of balancing both passion and economics.

I wouldn't knock a item of stock just because an engine room is not modelled. Whilst it's a nice detail it seems needless frippery to me.

If an engine room is featured, brilliant I'm all for it (such as the 87), but it's not really a big issue for me and have a what I don't know, doesn't hurt me type attitude towards it. It's a nice surprise, but not a personal expectation I have.

Not sure what new services you can add since they’re all already included.only option is to sub and that option is given in game.the F59PH probably has one of the best sounds out of any loco in the game

This is another thread that proves no matter what DTG does or releases, it will never be enough. The amount of extra time to model an engine room that you’d honestly spend very little time in seems counterproductive and frankly silly. I want a good modeled cab and sounds where I’m going to spend all my time. There’s no reason to go into the engine room so why even bother modeling it? This is a silly thread.

To be fair, unless we can fix the engine, 99% of crews use the front door on the F59 at least. If we're talking realism, you'd never open that door as a driver in the first place unless an issue happened...
I understand the lack of an engine room from both sides, half the players want it as a value add, the devs don't because it's a useless room without any interaction past doors, and the other half of players will never even use the doors to go back there. In my opinion, I will spend nearly all my time in the cab, so I don't really mind it not being there on the F59 in particular (it's a cab start in real life too).

But it’s cool being able to go inside it and see the engine.

But, lets be honest, how many times will the average player use or interact with the engine room? Is it really necessary, especially for a standard loco release?

How many of you have actually used the ones on the SPG locos recently?

I agree with this, though I think exceptions should exist. For example, the F units we got I think should've had them, along with the SD40 we got on Clinchfield as the engine room was already modeled in SPG...

I'm in the minority that thinks that engine room modeling and access are good features to have.

In terms of realism it would be equivalent to the fuse boxes in many locos which I guarantee you not many casual players bother to open and explore, but would draw complaints if they were missing.

I'm going to give my honest opinion here even though no one has asked for it, I'm a big fan of engine rooms (love ÖBB 1020, Class 87, DB BR 101 Expert because they have modeled engine rooms) but I liked F59PHR so much (mainly the sound capture quality, horn, etc, really a quality DLC in my opinion) that I don't mind the fact that it does not have a modeled engine room, for me it's tolerable

I've never been as excited for a DLC as I am for F59PHR
I think we lack US content on TSW

I don’t care much about engine rooms… but it is kind of annoying when they are mostly modeled, and act as the corridor between front and rear cab but an invisible wall stops us, ie BR 103.
