First time in over 18 months I've not watched the roadmap. Also decided that Cardiff route will not be a day one purchase, as the recent issues on X Box, and further more, the admission that S series is having stuff removed post release on Shap has made me question further purchases.

It would be really good if DTG put a separate Q&A together to discuss the disaster the TSW5 release has been.

As I said on my other post, if I could roll back to TSW4 and loose the Map 2.0, conductor and route hopping features etc, I absolutely would in a heart beat.
Something in the 5 release has fundamentally broken the core game, in terms of stability, and after 6 months, it's quite clear that DTG have not been able to locate the route cause.
Sometimes, it is better to admit the issue, roll it back and advise that enjoyment is of a higher importance than shiney new things.

My weekly time on the game has dropped through the floor since January as the issues have detracted away from the escapism and immersion that is the reason I play the game. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I'd expect the above is why development and details on some of the upcoming routes and remasters seems to have slowed or been pushed. It's not fun getting kicked on every release which I think has been a lot more prevalent since 5 came to the market. Please listen to the customers......Function over Form!!

I suspect there is now too much TSW5 content in the game to roll things back to late stage TSW4, but it is frustrating when little or no information or admission is forthcoming. But we get fireside chats etc. about Thomas! I mean it has been suggested the new 2D map is responsible for driving down performance so at least tell us of that is the cause and what plans are in hand to fix it or give the option to use the old less detailed map.

What will the next route release be and when will we know a release date?

No official info, and no. My guess is Cardiff or London Overground Mildmay. I think that Cardiff will release before the NS route, but it has to be close to release, too. But that's just me speculating.

lt would be great to get a couple more routes released before the next roadmap in March.

    My predictions:
North London Line - April 2025.
    Cardiff City - June 2025.
    Dutch Route - July 2025.
    Tadami Line - December 2099... :)

Think anything else likely to be part of the late summer update and think it unlikely we will see the ATS route any time soon, referencing discussions elsewhere.

They can't release routes that aren't finished yet. Considering the month is basically half way over and no announcements, I wouldn't expect any route dlc to be released this month

Vern you left out the Class 104. What's your prediction for that release?

As I said elsewhere, some things have been on the roadmap since dinosaurs roamed the Earth ;)

Yes they can, nothing stopped DTG releasing NYT and WCML South in a half baked state.

Well if we take the number 104 and add it too 1963 (the date PFR is set) that gives us a release date of 2067?

Hopefully that's enough time for them to finish the 104 and the wagons at least :)

    2099 as well?

Seriously if it doesn’t emerge by the end of this year as I said in another thread, PFR will be gathering the DTG dust if it isn’t already and they won’t be going out of their way to push DLC for (by then) three year old content.

They have a business to run and a cashflow to keep up. There is no way they are going to wait this long to release these DLC. At least one should release in March. As for Tadami, this could be the best guess you made here :)

And somewhere in between cargo line v3.

Especially rooting for the Dutch line as it's my home route. Given the progress shown, it should release before Cardiff.

I’m usually pretty good with my estimates, unless of course you have access to inside information ;) .

I just don’t think Cardiff is that close, we know they are rebuilding the 150 from the Rivet version but the 153 all we’ve seen so far is the 3D modelling app greyscale screenshot. Not a finished model and certainly nothing in game. I will concede it might hit the stores in May rather than June, but personally can’t see it any earlier than that.

Yeah, the 104 is becoming like the 313 saga, look how long it took that to release. It's a shame PFR hasn't been touched since release, it's a gorgeous route that really does deserve a 104, green peak and an extension to Derby or Manchester (preferably both, but will never happen).

I did download some good scenario's for it with the requirement of green diesels via CC but because there's no option to turn CC liveries off, just uninstall, I had green diesels appearing everywhere on NTP, BPO etc so had to uninstall.

I really want to get back to PFR,so heavily relying on the 104, I fear if we don't see it, or any major progress screenshots this year, then I will regard it is vaporware

    Sadly no inside knowledge :)

Just profesional experience with finance and accounting. Cost of capital and shareholders expectations dictate a regular and tightly kept release schedule.

This is also an important factor in DLCs being released too early, despite known bugs. An early patch is better than a perfect release, as you have enjoyed the cashflows of day 1.

That is mainly why I am a bit more optimistic than you ;-)

Totally disalusioned with TSW5 now. Roadmap = no progress remember Monty Python's cheese shop sketch?

Will the 104 be released before the asteroid hits and wipes out the entire human race? Asking for a friend.

More chance of the UK rejoining the EU, than ever seeing the 104 in TSW!! :)

Its a pity about the 104, I like the look of PF but don't enjoy the steam loco driving, so was waiting to get the route with the DMU.

Perhaps DTG could just get the timetable if that has been done already and release it with a green 101 skin. Not necessarily accurate but worth a couple of £s and may get more sales for the route too.

It does appear DTG have been incredibly quiet? Very odd. I wonder if the silence is to not pour fuel on the flames so to speak.

What's weird is that this roadmap has been out for a week, yet the Q&A for it is still open.

For one, it's outdated. For two, there's many questions, yet no answers.

We have had walls of silence before but this one seems very deep and prolonged. It certainly doesn’t help assuage the unease that all is not well at DTG Towers. Whether TSC, Catan and Fishing all but abandoned, the huge unfinished mess the bought in CTS is in, or the main event - what now appears to be the stagnation of TSW. Guess all we can do is wait and see what trickles down through the grapevine.

I have to say as the weeks go on it does worry me the state of disconnect we've had from DTG. This Q&A thread still unlocked, the unfinished route DTG released, the mess of recent updates and patch notes.

TSW has so much potential so I hope it's not stagnating especially with the third parties that are on board producing some really good looking stuff. Even DTG can do some really good content when they put their minds to it!

Hi folks - apologies for the tardiness on this, I've had a week of leave and this was something I wasn't able to check back in on! Let me source the original answers I had drafted from this Roadmap stream to share, and I do agree that there's probably redundant questions now, so I will also use this thread as an input for our March Roadmap Q&A's too (You can expect this in a couple weeks).

I'll follow-up shortly on the thread below, and (finally) give this thread a lock :)

    Hello everyone,

Given the roadmap is a couple of weeks old now, I'd like to focus more on some key questions raised in this thread in more detail, and I will carry forward many of the ones asked here after into our March Roadmap Q&As.

    February 2025 Roadmap Livestream

(Thank you to our team, chat moderators and some of you in the community who have provided answers to many!)

Just a quick mention that anything regarding new content that we've not yet shared details about, we won't be able to answer directly.

Q: How are we progressing towards further Performance Improvements in TSW5?
Some improvements to UI memory have been identified and are being fixed, as well as work continues into general in-depth auditing of memory usage as well as looking at framerates across each platform as a benchmark. We've been including updates in our regular patch notes that help push performance in the right direction, however, our team are still working towards more encompassing changes that help improve the experience as much as possible.
Our Executive Producer Matt talks more about this on our Roadmap livestream at 1:06:35

Q: What is happening with projects that have been on the Roadmap for some time with no update?
Generally speaking, this question asks more about projects coming from third-parties, so I will talk about that process more in-depth.

When we create our monthly roadmaps, we reach out to our third-party partners for any updates regarding all their upcoming projects, especially those tracking to release "soon" (usually in the 0-6 months range). Depending on what we get back, this determines what we discuss in the roadmap, and more importantly to some players, what we don't include. This doesn't necessarily reflect how a project is progressing, as development for new content isn't always linear, and whilst one month can be full of large milestones completed, other months might have fewer visual changes, which is hard to communicate via screenshots and written details.

It's worth also noting that very often, timelines and project scope/prioritises can change for different reasons, which can have impacts on when we expect content to be available. Managing these expectations is part of what we aim to do, and in the past, we've had roadmap assets which gave a more detailed timeline of when add-ons are releasing (0-3 months, 4-6 months or 6+ months). However, the difficulties we had with this layout came down to projects being >3 months from release were still quite hard to place, and it led to some confusion from players for when content should be released. This is why our new model works better for the time being - It's either "coming in the next 3 months" or it's "Coming at a future point in time". This helps us maintain a solid expectation with you all.

If certain projects have moved around, or had many updates since we originally included them, be sure that we're aware of these changes, and trying to understand how we can best communicate these expectations. We don't want to end up in a world where we pull items from the Roadmap asset, and then next month add them back in, so it's also useful to understand that the "To Be Confirmed" section should be considered with this in mind. If we get to a point where we're too unsure about a release date, we'll look to remove the listing from the asset, but this by no means impacts how the add-on is progressing, but rather continues to reinforce what players should expect from each month.

As a closing note, a recent change we've made is talking in detail about projects once they’re further along in the development process, so the result should be that when you hear about a new release, you typically won’t need to wait long until it's released.

Q: Will Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn have new layers for Xbox Series S?
The new timetable updates will only affect the PS5 and Xbox Series X platforms - these are not included on PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series S due to performance constraints. Some of our original articles initially mentioned Gen-8 platforms being affected, and we have updated this to ensure the messaging correctly states the Xbox Series S impact.

Q: Is there any new steam train add-ons coming up?
We won’t use this as an opportunity to discuss future Steam content, you'll have to keep an eye out for our announcements in future, but right now our team remain in the same position that we don’t have any plans for further improvements to the way Steam physics work in Train Sim World.

Q: How do we choose which questions to answer in Q&As?
Following the discussion in this thread, I think it's important to talk more about how we use Q&As, and how we choose between what topics we can address. Q&As are a great chance for us to hear from our more active community members about what discussions stick in your minds, what areas feel like they need further explaining, or if there's more information we can share about certain topics.

Generally speaking, we do our best to try and answer as much as we can, ultimately our Community team want to help you feel connected to our developments and our progress, and I think across the board we do a really good job at this, whether it's monthly roadmap Q&As, preview streams to help showcase and answer questions, or dedicated articles and written responses. There's always more we can do, and more threads we can appear in, but that's a key part of our day-to-day which we're always looking to improve.

So, everything is perfect then? Well, this is where it can get tricky for a couple of reasons, which usually boil down to "Can we talk about this?" or "Do we have enough information to talk about this accurately?". There are of course other options, but these tend to be the two areas which can result in less acknowledgement/silence from our teams, and opting for the silent approach on specific topics equally puts us in a difficult situation, as we want to be helping communicate to you all.

It's important to understand that simply acknowledging certain topics is beyond what we're permitted to do, for an assortment of reasons, and it heavily depends on the context of the subject. We can understand that those of you across our community will want answers, but from our side, it's vital that when we deliver key messaging, it's equally presented to all players, and that often can require certain approvals, checking from internal/external teams, or even simply just waiting for the right moment. As a couple of examples, this could be announcing details about new routes, or it could be us trying to work with our development teams to understand what improvements we're committing to fix so that we're not setting up false expectations. We've grown to understand the potential impact that sharing messaging that isn't checked thoroughly enough can have on players, so we want to avoid confusion and misunderstanding as a top priority.

To wrap up this response, the most useful takeaway is that we understand it can be frustrating hearing little said on various topics, but we're always committed to giving as much as we know to players that will help support healthy conversations and give players clarity, and we ask that you trust that if we're engaging less on a subject, then we'll share more when we're ready, as clearly as we can.
