Good evening, I wanted to tell you that on the website of: “RailSim.De” there is a beautiful route of the “Standtbahn” of Berlin. Unfortunately without tracks because I was not able to download it. I asked myself: “It would be nice if Dovetail Games made the same scenario of the Standtbahn of Berlin with tracks for Train Simulator” since the one on the website did not have the tracks and was about to damage my computer I thought why not make this route this time with tracks for Train Simulator? the one on the website: “RailSim.De” did not have the tracks if you could make a version with the tracks included for Train Simulator it would be beautiful. What do you think? Would it be a good idea?

I didn't talk about the Berlin Ringbahn route. I didn't talk about this route. I talked about another type of route also in Berlin but not the Berlin Ringbahn. I talked about the Berlin Standtbahn route for Train Simulator. and it would be a good and right thing for DTG to think about the future to do it on Train Simulator.

You say no tracks - do you have all the requirements that it needs? (most "freeware" routes don't include all the assets) It mentions needing the following? Although when asking about a route you should be more clear and give a link to the route that you mean. I assume you mean this route -

    Stadtbahn Berlin V3.13 , update2 , as of 11.05.2023 - Rail-Sim.de - The German Train Simulator Community
I believe all of those are on steam? (apart from the last one)

One requirement was to purchase the route: “Berlin Wittemberg” on the Virtual Tracks website, but unfortunately when I tried to purchase this route it almost blocked the file and damaged my computer. Luckily, the antivirus I have on my computer blocked the file. Otherwise, my computer would have broken.

Ok? but that route is on steam too (of course don't buy it again...) - although it's most likely a false positive and wouldn't have done that to your computer - I mean if you downloaded it from the Virtual Tracks website it should be fine!

The Berlin - Wittemberg route was extended and re released as Berlin - Leipzig.
I could not find the Berlin Standtbahn but eventually found the Stadtbahn Berlin

If you trust the supplier ignore the error from your virus software. They can block a lot of stuff you need to make a route work! The software does not always know what is and isn’t a virus.

My apologies - I saw the list but I missed the link to the route.
The bit about not finding the Standbahn applies.- Hence my link to the Ringbahn

The creator of "Ringbahn Berlin" has hinted for years that he will do the Stadtbahn as payware at some point. But it´s a massive project. I´ve talked about this on TSW forums. You would need to make hundreds of assets to have it be authentic.
The freeware Stadtbahn on railsim is a very old project from the early days of railworks. It uses very old assets and is not what you would expect scenery wise in 2025.

PS: I´m always amazed at the fact, that non german users chase down these old freeware routes and seem to be completely oblivious about all the more recent german freeware stuff.

So the “Berlin Wittemberg” route was also on Steam. I think it’s currently on Steam too. I bought it on Steam a long time ago. Maybe a few years ago, I don’t remember exactly now, but I bought it on Steam because it was available for purchase there too. I think it’s still available for purchase on Steam too. Even though I already have it.

in fact I already have it on Train Simulator because I purchased it on Steam.

look, I did that too but unfortunately it damaged my computer files or broke my computer altogether. So I stopped doing that.

Yes, but some of the named courses were also purchasable on Steam and they still are… eh.

but unfortunately my computer saw that the one I had bought from outside carried viruses and led to expected blocks to the files I had. Luckily my antivirus blocked it.

Excuse me, but what does the Ringbahn have to do with the Stadtbahn? It has nothing to do with it. They are two different routes. I spoke of the Berlin Stadtbahn, not the Berlin Ringbahn.

My dad told me that if I want more scenarios or more packages I have to buy "ONLY" on Steam and not from other external sites that could cause problems with my computer as happened to me. So I would ask if by chance in the future in this year 2025 someone of you could make the scenario: "Standtbahn" of Berlin for Steam to put on Train Simulator with the addition of the tracks. I can no longer buy from external sites. I'm sorry!

This will not happen. DTG no longer makes TSC product. They only sell what they have. They are focused on TSW.

It's most likely a false positive (ask your dad...) I mean windows usually does this for all installers that it doesn't recognise the publisher for, and this one would hit that - it's unlikely that this would have a virus - I mean it would have been mentioned a lot more if so on here :) (and as far as i'm aware it hasn't - equally though i've mostly gotten stuff from steam).

I mean that's fair enough but it's not upto DTG to put routes on to steam, the 3rd party has to be willing to put the route on steam for DTG to sell on steam, it's not like Dovetail can just take routes and just put them on steam. However as I've said on steam many times, not everyone wants to put their products on steam and that's upto them, personally I'd love to see more on s team too (that's just an opinion though :), and i understand that people will disagree with me on that)

Read your first post where you said Standtbahn -
You did not bother with a link to it and searching for it gave nothing
And you repeated that again in post #17

He was arguing on Railsim a couple of days ago about his "virus problem". Danny already said everything, that needs to be said about the topic. Obviously Virtual Tracks installers don´t carry viruses.

TSW is another type of game that has nothing to do with TSC. I am currently talking about TSC and not TSW which has nothing to do with TSC. Then why are they focusing on TSW and not on TSC anymore?

I simply said what I think, that is, that external internet sites can always have viruses inside them and bring viruses out. In the sense that if external internet sites bring viruses because they have them inside, it seems really useless to me.

because you rightly say that the authors who make the paths should be the ones to put them on Steam to be published. In the sense that the authors when they make the paths on their external sites must send them to DTG and then be published on Steam? is that right? what do I know about these things. I don't understand.

to me instead "Yes" unfortunately on the site of "Virtual Tracks" there was a virus and buying something from there my antivirus blocked the file that I had to do. Precisely because it carried a virus.

if there were a virus, it would have been mentioned a lot more than just here, I understand that you don't want to risk things but not everything outside of steam is a virus!

TSW is the new Train Simulator that DTG is spending their resources on. They own both products, however, have chosen not to invest any more development time in TSC.

this is my seems like a fair thing to say in the sense that some things that are not from Steam that are not part of Steam that are outside of Steam can carry viruses. They carry it to your computer and then they could damage it.

eh why DTG is currently working only for TSW (Train sim World) and not for TSC? (Train Simulator Classic) why? also TSC needs to be worked on not just TSW. Also TSC needs to be worked on.

TSC new product is now provided by 3rd party vendors mostly OUTSIDE of Steam. DTG no longer has the staff to make any changes to TSC. If you want new TSC stuff you need to get over your fear of 3rd party non-Steam vendors. That is the future of TSC. If you cannot tolerate these very low risks of a virus infection then I would suggest you use a Steam only application such as TSW. It is what it is and it will NOT change. All other TSC users rely on certain 3rd party vendors to have virus free products.

    The important word is Could.
Option 1 - wait until a third party vendor releases their DLC on Steam - with some it may not happen as they have to pay Steam
Option 2 - Change your Virus Checker as you seem to get a lot of False positives

And if you are getting something from outside of Steam then Ask on a forum if people have had problems with downloading it.

Or switch to TSW - everything comes via Steam and DTG Continue to release new items

The download from Virtual Tracks has no viruses. I don't know what antivirus you have (not that you need one anyway; the built-in one is more than capable as long as you don't do anything stupid) but there are some like Norton that are notorious for false positives. If you really want to be sure, you can download the file and scan it with Microsoft Defender for a second opinion.

Beyond that there is nothing we can do to help you. You know what the requirements are but have got into a tizzy over the false positive.

Norton, possibly? It's known to mess with downloaded stuff. And McAfee doesn't seem to like AP downloads (own experience)

Yes, I've had the same experience with Norton. While all pre-installed antiviruses are effectively malware, Norton especially deserves to be erased from existence.
