Hi everyone, in a recent TSW roadmap post that is a fair ways down the thread it was stated that Caltrain DLC will be delisted by the end of February (February 27th to be specific) and this includes the TSC Caltrain DLC too however that hasn't been stated directly here by DTG in the TSC side of the forums yet. It was briefly mentioned in the General North American 3rd Party News thread but thought I would post it as a related thread too for those who may not check that thread regularly. The TSC DLC that will be delisted by the end of the month are the: 2016 Dovetail Games Peninsula Corridor: San Francisco - San Jose Route Add-On 2017 Dovetail Games Peninsula Corridor: San Fracisco - Gilroy Route Add-On 2018 High Iron Simulations Peninsula Corridor: San Francisco - Gilroy Scenario Mini-Pack 01 Add-On 2018 High Iron Simulations Peninsula Corridor: San Francisco - Gilroy Scenario Mini-Pack 02 Add-On DTG said there is eventually going to be a "last-chance sale" to purchase the DLC before they go off sale closer towards the end of the month. Quote direct from DTG Alex about Caltrain on the TSW side of the forums in the roadmap post: "Today we have an update to share regarding the expiry of our Caltrain licence agreement and how that will impact related add-ons. Our teams are working with new licensors all the time to bring an authentic experience to Train Sim World with the inclusion of real-world brands. However, in rare cases our licences expire without renewal and whilst we do our best to work closely with our licensors, it can result in us needing to make changes to how we distribute and sell affected content. This particular expiry impacts the following add-ons: Train Sim World Train Sim World®: Peninsula Corridor: San Francisco - San Jose Route Add-On Train Sim World®: Caltrain MP15DC Diesel Switcher Loco Add-On Train Sim World®: Caltrain MP36PH-3C Baby Bullet Loco Add-On Train Simulator Classic Train Simulator: Peninsula Corridor: San Francisco - Gilroy Route Add-On Train Simulator: Peninsula Corridor: San Francisco – San Jose Route Add-On TS Marketplace: Peninsula Corridor: San Francisco - Gilroy Scenario Mini-Pack 01 Add-On TS Marketplace: Peninsula Corridor: San Francisco - Gilroy Scenario Mini-Pack 02 Add-On These add-ons will remain on sale until February 27th, after which they will be removed from stores. For those who are yet to purchase these add-ons, we will be running a last-chance sale on selected platforms. We will share more details about this sale closer to the time. For now, it may be best to consider this the last opportunity to purchase these licensed add-ons. If you already own the add-ons above, or decide to purchase them before the February 27th deadline, you will not be impacted by the licence expiry and will be able to continue enjoying the official Caltrain branded content for the current version of Train Sim World that you are playing. Our teams are also investigating potential ways in which we can bring the Train Sim World add-ons back after they are removed from sale, and we're working through this process with guidance from Caltrain. We don't have anything to confirm just yet, but once we have more news to share, we will keep you all updated. Thank you." If you are interested in either North American passenger content or simply a collector of sorts who would like to acquire these DLC before they go off sale for an indefinite amount of time I would recommend getting them now or waiting for the "last-chance sale" which will eventually take place apparently. Essentially get them now or soon while you still can!
I have the TSW version but not TSC. Hopefully they will be sold off for a silly firesale price, £3 each or thereabouts.
Not likely. They will be whatever the lowest sale price is, at best. Which might be 60, 70, or 80% off. We'll see. But there won't be a magnificent bundle or "get it for one dollar" type things. When the branded Welsh Marches went after four months in the store, it was still some 25% off. One of my most expensive DLC purchases to date.
We shall have to wait and see. When the first North Wales Coastal route and related DLC was removed in late 2019 there were significant discounts for the week leading up to it.
DTG said that they will be running a last-chance sale on selected platforms. When will they share more details about this sale as we are getting closer to the 27th February? l have never purchased the TS Marketplace: Peninsula Corridor: San Francisco - Gilroy Scenario Mini-Pack 01/02 Add-On Packs, although l have both routes. Not really bothered about the packs and not sure l ever will play them, but if the price is reasonably reduced I would add them to the game.
We might have just had that sale. Festival of Rail just ended. There might be one more the last seven days available, we will see.
If you're not really bothered I'd advise not to. There are surely lots of scenarios in the workshop. Pick up something you're actually interested in. I've purchased plenty of FOMO and cheap stuff. Didn't touch most of them. Considering that, it was expensive junk.
Yes, l am the same. Thanks for the advice, l will certainly look at what’s available in the workshop.
I imagine that there will be a seven day sale ending on the 27th, so I'm personally setting a date of the 20th to buy the scenario packs.
That’s sounds promising. The lowest the packs have been is 50% off at £1.99 each. https://isthereanydeal.com/game/ts-...ncisco-gilroy-scenario-mini-pa-5eacce54/info/ https://isthereanydeal.com/game/ts-...ncisco-gilroy-scenario-mini-pa-d023c9b7/info/
Will note, for anyone that picks up the Caltrain stuff 1st time, Searchlight Simulations does have a EP for the F40. https://store.searchlight-simulations.com/products/16-645e3-ct-ep
I'm trying to buy Peninsula Corridor: San Francisco - Gilroy Route Add-On and Peninsula Corridor: San Francisco - San Jose Route Add-On, but the Steam cart shows a warning ‘Already in cart’, as if these sets are mutually subtractable. Am I missing something or are these routes the same thing? The names are different and they have different pages too. Spoiler: Screenshot
When you Read the info one says Key Features The famed 47-mile, multi-track Peninsula Corridor route south from San Francisco to San Jose, California as operated by Caltrain and Union Pacific. The other says Key Features The 77-mile, multi-track Caltrain Peninsula Corridor route south from San Francisco via San Jose and Tamien to Gilroy, California.
It's because buying the San Francisco to Gilroy route grants you access to the San Francisco to San Jose route in the package, you can check steam.db to see that's true. So in reality, you only need to buy the San Francisco to Gilroy, and you technically get both routes. https://steamdb.info/app/448190/subs/
I saw there was a couple of third party scenario packs to, will these also be delisted or does this only apply to Dovetail official content ?
Yeah, I already checked on SteamDB too. I'll buy San Francisco - Gilroy tomorrow and double-check again. Thanks anyway! Scenario sets were on the list too, I'm sure they'll be removed too.
The scenario packs being delisted doesn't make sense. They don't have any branded content in them. Still, DTG probably won't be willing to sell DLC for a route you can't get anymore.
They require the base DLC and as such they cannot be listed properly. Also their promo pictures include branding. It's a minor loss. The scenarios can be uploaded to the workshop, either by them or anyone with an acknowledgment. It's similar to the updated routes or fixed scenarios of official content (Donner Pass for example).
Yes, you get the San Jose route automatically if you go to Gilroy. In fact, there was never a point to the San Jose route staying in the store. All scenarios come in the Gilroy package, for both DLC. It's not like the branded SWC or even today's Goblin Lines separating the scenarios for the shorter route as a separate app. (Which is still a valid customer service complaint for Goblin Lines - or just find someone who plops the old scenarios on the new route folder.)
Err, what has Goblin got to do with the Caltrain delisting? I have no idea what you are talking about.
I was noting that some packages would have missing content paired with other parts (like Goblin), but the Gilroy package is not missing anything from San Jose's segment. I know I have weird ways of making a point sometime.
I bought San Francisco - Gilroy today, after that San Francisco - San Jose really started to show up in the library, but on SteamDB the San Jose package does not show up as purchased (screenshot #1). Anyway, on the Steam page San Jose is shown as purchased and I can't buy it again (screenshot #2). Apparently really someone is just too lazy to merge these packs, or technically they should be in the possession of those who have previously bought them. Spoiler: Screenshots
For both South Wales Coastal and Goblin I had to ask DTG to send me keys for the base routes so I could play with the DLC scenarios for them. The annoyance was that getting the extended routes didn't give you the base one, but it marked the base one as being owned so you couldn't get it separately.
You purchase packages and you receive the apps inside. If a package contains two apps, then you get both. If a package contains another package, you still get the one you purchased. There are some awkward ones like the North London Line which miss something (scenarios iirc). In that case you can purchase the smaller one first and you'll get a Steam notification upon purchasing the second that you have the first (app). The quirk is, if the smaller package later gets extended, you won't get the items inside, unless it's added to the core. Probably this is behind the TS 2016 issues as well. DTG added the BR 155 eventually to certain versions of Köln-Koblenz but if you had a supposedly arcane version, you didn't get them. If you browse the lists you can see there are many special versions for various platforms and promotions.
Gilroy's package includes the only app in the San Jose package. You may not own the San Jose package, but you own the only app inside, which is also what marks it on Steam. Goblin Lines has a different situation where app 500217 - North London Line Content & Manual - is included with North London Line, but is not included in the Goblin Lines package. Therefore, if you get Goblin Lines first, NLL shows as owned because the route IS in the Goblin Lines pack, but the scenarios are not. I don't know if anyone ever made up the scenarios attached to the Goblin Lines route under different IDs, thereby making all scenarios appear under the same route. Either way, you can go to DTG support with your app manifest and ask for the missing and otherwise unobtainable app (except where the smaller route is in certain packages) to be granted. SWC branded also has this issue with the smaller route's set, which now have unbranded versions with the full route that those owners would already have, but you can still get your branded copies for that if you own the route. San Jose scenarios should all be included with the Gilroy route and should appear under San Jose separately, so this should not be a problem here.
Thanks for the clarification everyone! Actually after Cyclone's explanation I understood everything, I'm more interested in why DTG can't figure out these packet nestings.
Why are you blaming DTG? It is up to Steam the way things are presented on their store page - it will be over next week so stop worrying
I'm not worried, just a weird mix up. Packages are created by the developer, not Steam. That's a strange response from support.
Well, checking the prices - being equal - makes this funny. You have the option to not buy the full route, but why wouldn't you. I can see why they didn't just extend the old route for free, but retiring the shorter one would have been a clear solution. (It makes sense with real life products on principle, e.g. a burger without meat still being a burger, or not picking +1 promotions because you'd just throw it.)
The support reply is half right. It is an extension, yes. But it also includes the San Jose route in the package. You should not have to buy San Jose. BTW devadatta357 there is a Workshop route that adds even more to it. Look for that. I am not home ATM but I can find it later if you have not by the time I return.
