From my understanding these signs are to inform a driver that the magnet that they have passed over to which they have received an aws warning for in cab doesn't apply to them? Have I got that right. It's on bi directional lines also, so lines shared between trains going in both direction? Additionally, why do they get the warning. Is it because there may be a signal that's at danger or something but not in direction they are travelling hence the sign? Any help would be appreciated. Assume the warning is for train going in other direction on same line?
We call them SIBs in industry - Scotland Indicator Board - means if you pass it, you'll be in Scotland. Generally advance warning signs are placed far enough in advance of the border to be able to hit the emergency breaks and remain in England xD
