    Hello folks.

I'm having this problem. Where I'm using the editor, saving regularly. When the editor finally does crash. It's deleting objects here, there and everywhere. Objects I've not only placed in this session, but placed objects in previous session's to.

Has anyone come across this before? It's driving me nuts.

Not come across this problem in the editor but it is very slow in saving a route.
When you have finished a session Back Up the work
If it crashes in the next session you still have the previous version

Yeah I will keep that in mind in the future.
The whole route seems to be corrupt now.

I have learnt from experience to a) take backups regularly, and b) save and restart regularly - I do both at least once per hour. That being said, memory management of the editor does seem vastly improved with the various upgrades that took place in the not-so-distant past, and by applying the above routine I haven't experienced any issues at all for a long time.

The only circumstance I know of where data can be lost is during the saving of the tracks.bin file. On a complex route this file takes a long time to compile and save. If interrupted it can leave you an empty tracks.bin which means you lose all track. If your whole route is now broken, that is probably what happened.

Is there a way to restore the tracks.bin using rwtools? All the track is still there. I was adding 3rd rail when it crashed. A lot of the 3rd rail I placed is missing. When I navigate to that area the editor crashes.

I can't really answer that, I'm afraid, as I rarely use RWTools/TS-Tools to edit files. It is a six-million dollar question - you "might" be able to restore the route by deleting the third rail. Hopefully somebody with more experience of TS-Tools can guide you.

The golden rule when creating routes is to take a backup after every editing session - I keep a rolling backup of my entire route in a folder outside of the Steam & Railworks file hierarchy....has got me out of jail on several occasions.

If you edit a route using TSTools it makes a backup - but otherwise no.

The 3rd rail would be in the Lofts files rather than in tracks.bin.

Yea I checked for missing assets using rwtools and there was a lot of stuff missing regarding lofts.

It seems to be lofts that are messed up on the route. Missing 3rd rail, tunnels, platforms etc.

I cloned the route and tried to replace the assets using rwtools but the cloned route kept crashing when loading afterwards.

    I'll keep at it though.

    Thanks.
