    Good afternoon,
As we all know the sounds for the class 385 are downright awful. Although I understand that had rivet games been able to source a recording session, they might've been up to par with other locos in the game. None the less they aren't good just now. Having watched British Ace 's video (see link at the end of this post) on the class 385 enhancement pack, it's quite clear that it is infact possible to improve this loco. It is one of the flagship Scottish trains at this time on the central belt and it has been botched so badly. If an enhancment update/pack could be made for the class 385 it would be so much better. Even if it was just the sounds. But a simple modder managed to get the right sounds, working DAS and TMS, the works! If the concern is relationships between dtg and rivet, then it could be branded as a enhancement pack or TMS enhancment pack that includes sounds. Or it could even just come as an update. (Note if made as an enhancment pack, price should be less than £7).

It has been proved by other developers that this train can be made to a good standard. So can someone weather it's rivet, dtg or another third party come and do this loco justice. I mean just listen to how nice the traction motors sound. If only they were realistically represented in TSW.

EDIT: Even the modeling isn't up to scratch. Look at the differences between the DRA and door interlock buttons here. This needs work. PXL_20250302_142300284.jpg Screenshot_20250302-142245.png

Thank you for your time and sorry for this unusual essay from me. :)

385 definitely needs an overhaul. Sounds are atrocious, particularly the brake release which can be heard really far away, and the model itself in cab does look quite dated as you said.

During the North London Line live stream it was mentioned that the route has used the new PIS information boards that were due to be released with the Manchester Airport Commuter... An example of developers working and communicating between each other to improve the game. And most importantly ATS who developed the Alloa route for TSC.

If Rivet had any sense they'd ask to work with ATS to use their sounds and improve the current 385 on EG... But this is Rivet, outside their 3D modelling the most useless developers in the game as far as I'm concerned.

Thomson Interactive developed the Alloa route for TSC, which I am fairly certain is another Alan Thomson than the one from ATS.

You're right, just done a quick search so I hold my hands up on that one...

However, it's not impossible for Rivet to contact them and use the sounds? Armstrong Powerhouse seem to be doing okay working across both platforms so I can't see why the same can't be done here.

Rivet are even worse than DTG for conceding something is wrong, let alone fixing it. I wager the 385 will stay exactly as it is for the rest of time.

They couldn't even correct the erroneous speed limit on the St Ives branch in the Up direction, despite being pinged directly about it.

No hope for the 385… best thing that happened to E2G was skyhook adding the 158 sprinter timetable and DTG dropping in the 380 so you can avoid using the 385 altogether

There could be a much simpler explanation why Rivet and/or DTG have not gone back and fixed the class 385.

Jasper and DTG never like to admit they were wrong about things, and them fixing the class 385 would be an admission of this.

So, it goes ignored as usual.

I think people need to understand the perspective on the 385 (& a lot of other things).

DTG & Rivet don’t see it as broken, that’s why they haven’t done anything with it. It’s just more borderline shovelware they’ve put out & it is the way it is. That’s it.

Just like the 20 MPH speed limit on St Ives…

The 377 was fixed and now it's one of my favorite units to drive, I think the 385 ought to get a fix tbh...

It wasn’t fixed, as much as resold.

The one which was in a poorer state, still exists in that state.

385 ain’t gettin touched unless DTG want to use it for something else… there’s been plenty of route updates, relaunches with other stock in fact, which would usually give an opportunity to update. Clearly once it was outside early life support, and it didn’t crash your system, it was dropped.

similar to the 150 from WCL , only getting re-physiced due to it being used in Cardiff netwo

It's a real shame. Hopefully we'll get ECML/wcml north at some point which will give them an opportunity to redo it...? (I hope. Probably not though as they don't need to change the interior or anything like the 150)
