It looks nothing like the real building either. It's quite laughable.

I'll just repeat what I said in the other thread:
I am only supporting this route because of the offered traction. It'll be refreshing to have another route that isn't full of electric trains.

That reminds me of Fife Circle when people posted shots of a building right next to the line that wouldn't even pass muster as background scenery in MSTS. I think it did get changed out at some stage.

Either that was tongue in cheek, a typo, or a Rivet person in disguise.

Yeah I remember that. It's more of a shame now to see poor scenery on a route that I live on.

I dont think what is posted here will worry the powers that be, as long as the day 1 to 30 sales are there thats the only thing that counts.

TSW definitely two tier DLC now. Looks like this one is in the lower tier.

We don't even know how Rivet were involved in WCML, bit of a stretch.

The TSW render looks like the dog box side of the train (the smaller cab) the picture you have shown looks to be the normal cab?

So I take it no one on this thread is buying it then?

I’ll be sure to check the feedback thread on March 18th for all those who didn’t buy it.

The WCL Class 150 was totally borked regarding the physics, thus the sounds did not match the real one even if they were AP sounds.
I really hope DTG or whoever reworked the 150 updated the physics and not just the sounds. Don't want to have another class 150 which does not feel like an DMU at all.
Well, apparently seeing Rivet involved now makes me wait for a decent sale anyway... Guess the money is better invested in the Dutch route.

So what if anything was said about the route on the Roadmap stream? Any confirmation Rivet are involved or did they skip over that bit?

I did read in the GD thread something about a recording trip but hang on, they already have the AP sounds so surely just a case of mixing them properly along with correct physics in Simugraph. Sinking feeling on reading that, got to assume then the sounds and physics as per the original Rivet version despite all the previous assurances. And I for one have no faith that DTG will come through - we've seen it before with the Class 385 and Class 700 - the take it or leave it approach.

The Rivet involvement is speculation in this forum thread. No official message from DTG on that.

Apart from the usual gushing about how exciting the route will be….nothing was mentioned about their involvement at all. DTG not really known for tackling the tough questions head on are they?

Once again you mention that things are going to be restricted on Gen 8 consoles but no mention at all of series S! Are we to take it that us on series S are getting everything the series X is getting or are we to find out ourselves that the series S is also restricted?

I'll hazard a guess that they are unable to tell if Series S will be affected until they have people actually playing the route on it.

Although, they should be using a Series S to test it themselves.

Along side many others I was thinking in picking it up so I can stop driving that horrible horrible horrible rivet 150. I picked it up back then because I really want to go to Penzance-

But yea no DTG you’re still not making me pay full for anything Rivet touch and is an utter joke that yall have not learn from WCMLS. As much as how I will wait for a sale to pick it up my money will go back into TSC, buy the class 150 plus ap pack and 153 (latter to get from Just Trains) worth more my money.

I still standby that… Rivet is good at modelling train and that all there is. If the involvement of this route is mostly a Rivet Product then this is all I have to say until whatever is going to be shown more in a preview stream.
    FIRE RIVET.

Well I will be waiting for the Day One feedback and then for a sale. Even if the route is perfect and the 150/153 have superb sounds and physics, £30 is a bit of an ask for a small network and 1.5 new trains. Plus the core issues which by themselves justify a “work to rule” if not an outright “strike” on buying more DLC.

One more chance to ask about “R” involvement and to assess the sounds, assuming the presenters don’t babble on constantly and drown them out. Physics wise, the 153 should be slightly more sluggish being heavier than a Class 150 car.

Unlike everyone else on this thread, I'll reserve full judgement until the preview stream.

I think there were positives and negatives. Yes the lighting at Cardiff Central shows a disturbing lack of research, but on the other hand the overgrowth at Coryton shows they haven't completely phoned it in. I actually think all the stations look pretty decent.

Regarding the sounds, we'll just have to wait and see. The music masked most of it, but what I did hear didn't ring alarm bells like it seemed to for everyone else.

in the stream they said they’ve done a referencing trip. Matt said he’d get onto the devs about fixing the lighting at central when my question was raised. I’m surprised no one, not one person even bothered to check google images if they at least didn’t stay for night time research.

I do appreciate that he at least acknowledged it though, and took (seemingly) some accountability.

I’ve decided after sleeping on it, that I will (begrudgingly) buy the route. It won’t on day one because payday is a couple days later. It’ll give me chance to see reviews. I have a feeling on initial impressions that I might be waiting for a sale, though.

Not sure it is just the sim but the screenshots look very washed out. Living very local to the lines there are some very small and easy details missing. This could be easily rectified. There are endless resources online...Flickr is a treasure trove for resources and not to mention the Railways in South Wales FB Page. I feel like they have picked a very easy route consisting of stations which are made up predominately of platforms. I do agree the basics are there but I just feel there's something missing. Not sure if anyone else agrees?

One criticism I've seen pop up quite frequently is the fact the texturing on assets is very poor. They look flat with no definition...needs a bit of weathering. Especially looking at the screenshots of Penarth. Shelters look like they were installed yesterday! I strongly believe that routes like this are better suited for 3rd party devs who can spend time perfecting it and dialling the small details. This would give the route more depth and realism. Also not to mention reaching out to individuals who may have access to go and retrieve/find resources for the team to use. FB pages/Websites are a great way to collate a library of references and to contact people who may be able to help.

As mentioned above, I will also begrudgingly purchase the route seeing as it is local to me but I'm sure I'll be critical of it and I'm sure I'll end up doing a comparison of IRL/Sim. I do think they've missed a big opportunity to extend the line even as far as Barry Island which is only an additional 6 miles 29 chains!

Bit dodgy showing a picture of the Class 66 on the preview video, then Matt stating in the roadmap ""There are no playable freight services on Cardiff City Network""

The Class 153 has brand new sounds, recorded on a Scotrail unit during an official DTG session.
The Class 150 audio is unchanged, with some minor changes to the mixing.
Rivet were not mentioned once in the entire 90 minute livestream.

there is no playable freight layer, so the caption should really have made it clear the 66 appears as AI only.

Sure I've heard from somewhere the 150 sounds were from AP and Rivet altered them....god knows why?!?!
As for Rivet, they aren't going to mention them as then people know the sort of quality they can expect :|

It doesn’t say it is playable though? DTG hasn’t said it’s playable either? Just that there is freight traffic.

The 66 is playable on RHTT services.

Well it will be odd if two units that sound pretty much identical IRL, end up sounding quite different in game. However that does give me a slight glimmer of hope that not all is lost and the DLC might not be a total write off.

The way that TSW handles audio is different to TSC, so the original AP audio would have had to have been re-mixed for the TSW environment. Theoretically it would be possible to get a better audio output by re-mixing the AP sounds, which Is what DTG are stating has taken place for this DLC.

One question I do have dtg made point in announcements of the new destination displays on the class 150/2 and 153 in light of the higher price point are these actually changeable by the players/keyboard F8 shortcuts or is it more of the unrealistic automatic changing destinations?

Why do Just Trains make incredible routes and DTG fail on some seeing the trailer it didn't look great it's strange but like I say i will wait for the preview stream to see what it's like

Plenty of stations on the Valleys Network that have unique station buildings. Pontypridd most notably! not only that but continued the route to another terminus like Barry Island or Ponty....maybe even further on the CVL like Merthyr, Aberdare, Rhymney or Treherbert

I really love the network style of the route.
I don't like the fact that it's yet another tiny window train(s), but that's reality.
But this just makes it worse (for me) that they couldn't be bothered to include stopping points (even outside of stations) for freight and intercity to make those layers driveable in timetable, too.
Absolute deal breaker. I like diversity in my gameplay. Maybe will look at this at 50% off, but no earlier. Real shame.

If they had set it back a few years and included the full Rhymney line, we could have had the iconic Class 37 loco hauled peak services. Now that might have been worth £30 and Day One, even with you know who involved.

I have a feeling that they will hide that/avoid answering those question just to hide the fact it’s a rivet product.

CORYTON has certainly had some "artistic license" added, there's no way you are getting a bus to the station!

Also are those house assets from minecraft?
