The fact that Maik says that the BR420 is going through significant 3D remodelling from its previously planned 2010s München version (and somehow nobody pays attention to it) is already a promising statement on its own, at least for some of us. :)

Certainly. The fact that we were supposed to get the (to my mind) dreadful-looking modernised ones was one of the major drawbacks for me - was being the operating word now :)

Soooo the 420 was also used in Stuttgart, according to the Wikipedia. Can we combine this information with the "Next Stop: BaWü" hint from Niddertalbahn, and the knowledge that TSG has an upcoming route in the works, and dream of a Stuttgart S-Bahn DLC coming out in the near future? :)

it's TSG, so I would bet it will be great :) also this:

"A new German Pack coming soon from TSG!
Finally, we wanted to highlight another addition to the roadmap asset this month, which shares news of an unannounced new German Loco pack, developed by the TSG teams! We'll be sure to give you more details in the coming weeks, so stayed tuned!" ... wonder what it is

I have no doubt about that, but after so many years of waiting and appearing on and off the roadmap so many times that it's kind of hard to believe that this time it will come, I can't wait to get my hands on it.

to be 101% honest, I am looking forward more to the new Koln Aachen timetable... it had literally been my first TSW route and still loving it and playing it regularly... and being able to run on it with new trains (especially looking forward to FlixTrain Vectron runs) is sth I can patiently wait for :) ... BR 420 I anticipate cos... well, I like almost any German content :) ... would probably prefer if someone did Siemens Mireos, but well, this is still German content, so... yay :)

So is the old orange variant - which was also teased once on a work in progress screenshot - not coming?

As I had clarified here, it was not a WIP shot - it was only ever the 3D modeller saying that they would have personally preferred this version. It was never hinted or teased to be actually in the works.

As being speculated in another thread, what's the bet DTG have done a deal with TSG to make this the additional train for a German route in the Deluxe version of TSW6?

oh yeah, I dont play BR 101 that much cos you have to do the calculations and such, but from what I have played, it is a gem... plus the love and care into updating it, making sure it works right, the AWESOME manual with tips and everything... so yeah... I am hoping for a simpler expert loco, like a machine thats objectively easier to control, but done on an expert level, like 442

For the IC trains it is intended for, you literally write the exact same numbers there every time. The expert functions are limited in usage by how simple everything is for passenger trains, we hope for something that is more complex, and where the expert features have actually any chance to shine :D

None. Wasnt it specifically announced as a DLC for S Bahn Frankfurt in the roadmap?

not every time, sometimes the number of 2nd and 1st class varies :D ... and I am always scared that some fault will jump up on screen :D ... but I am not saying it is a bad thing :) ... more complex? daaaamn :D ... but I will most probably buy it anyway, cos of the personal challenge, like "I can learn to drive this thing" even if I do just a couple runs :D

just so I can prove to myself I can actually learn it... and to support you guys who do an amazing job :) ... and since with my not so good German I dont have much chances of becoming a real OBB driver, this is as close as I ever get to driving the real thing :)

    That's assuming Frankfurt doesn't turn into the TSW6 German route :) .

There is no reason to believe that at this moment.

As noir pointed out, for the IC coaches, you're always gonna get away with:
BRA: 9/BRH: 18(0)/VMZ: 20(0). It's only the ZL that you need to calculate by simply checking the pause menu. If it tells you your total length is say 221 metres, then you put the next multiple of 10, so 23(0). That's all you need.
It's with any irregular consist that you need to probably calculate it, but even then say you have a unified freight train made of tanker wagons (Kesselwagen), you can get the number of carriages, length and mass from the pause menu. Then you simply multiply the Braked Weight by the number of coaches. It's if the consist is varried that it gets more labour intensive, even with a tool as you need to have a look at the configuration in more details. If you don't want to do the calculations yourself you can still use noir 's tool of course.

frankfurt s-bahn may be, but I don't think the 420 is, as it is from a third-party developer and no base route or additional deluxe edition content has ever been developed by third parties, it is always by dtg itself

I think you will find TSG had a hand in a fair bit of German content published by DTG themselves.

Anyhow it was just a random thought, not to be taken seriously.

yes, I know that but the thing is that the 420 is fully developed by tsg, it's a different situation

I believe Lukas was referring to something like a pack of locos/units backdated for vintage German routes (LFR mainly). This will bring the existing locos back in time, set them correctly for that specific period: EBuLa screen removal etc... Finally!
Lukas also said that the 420 should have its own route... Now it seems they're creating it DB Red first. Will they also create the famous 90's version and a route for it? Intriguing...

More locomotives for LFR would be great! Also for Mittenwaldbahn, because while the route looks charming and I would like to get it at some point, currently it feels a bit sterile with only two locomotives. So I really hope it is indeed some retro loco pack.

Yeah, since then I have been informed that the orange retro variant was never really TSG's teaser, it was someone else's render. Such a shame. I don't think I will get the new Frankfurt route just for the 420. But it looks like a lovely unit, I would like to drive it somewhere, preferrably in a more retro setting.

lol if you want some route that screams vintage, DTG should do Mariazellerbahn :D ... current equipment is kinda tram-train like, but in the past it had everything from steam to diesel and even some almost-Crocodile-like traction from early 1900s :D
