My suggestion is the Metropolitan Line. It runs for roughly 42 miles, and serves 34 stations. Because of the interesting service patterns and branches, this route would be very interesting to drive on. The S8 and S7 stock could be included, with the S7 running circle and Hammersmith and City line services between Aldgate and Baker street. The 1972 stock could also sub in for the jubilee line between Finchley Road and Wembley Park and also the Piccadilly line between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge. Also, the 166 from GWE could show up in an unbranded Chiltern Railways livery for even more services. There are also route hopping opportunities at Northwick Park (osi to Kenton on WCMLS and Bakerloo line), Baker Street (also to the Bakerloo line) and Euston Square to Euston on WCMLS (osi). This route is a non linear, busy and unique route, which is not too long whilst still providing a unique service pattern and it would probably sell quite well at £29.99, seeing as you would have a lot of layers, service variation and technically 2 trains (S7 and S8, with different interiors.)
The Metropolitan Line is a very good suggestion to get another London underground route and Matt disclosed that DTG have got a lot of requests for another London Underground route, however he also disclosed that the Bakerloo route caused problems, there was a lot of work involved, light baking was a nightmare and the route went way over budget and put a strain on the company. So, we may not get another route?
I see. Whilst I know that I am not one who understands the route development process, perhaps recent advancements could help in making the route development process easier, such as TOD4 lighting.
With regards to developments, there are probably may factors involved. Yes advancements could help, the problem is that some advancements may require external forces of which DTG have no control over, unreal/Epic has a brand new light baking system for the unreal engine, but it is not coming out till spring 2027, just made this up as an example. In house advancements can happen, but it takes time and money and some times those two commodities are not so readily available, there is also a learning curve, for example your first route will take 8 months to produce, but your 50th route will take 7.5 months or less because of the knowledge you have gained, but it could easily go wrong and take 12 months because of an unknown or unforseen element. DTG could give the exact insight into production, I hope they decide to produce the Metropolitan Line, but...
I did forget to mention that the Watford north curve would also make for interesting services, being early mornings, late evenings or scenarios
There is no harm in asking and if players keep asking for a Metropolitan Line, DTG will certainly consider it, but there is a lot involved in making an underground route. Who knows, TSW 6 might have the Metropolitan Line as one of its launch routes on the cover? I think the way the Metropolitan Line splits off at the north London end and goes to different routes makes it interesting.
That's an excellent suggestion and it would be even better in the transition period between the A60/A62 and S stock (2010-2012) so it comes with two very different trains to drive.
Great suggestion, this would be nice to see in TSW As we can also route hop from Kings cross St Pancras to Euston And St Pancras Interntional
As much as it would be nice to have the A60/62 and the S7/8 and a difficult route to make, that is expecting a little too much from DTG
I could only hope that this route is made for TSW6. Most likely of the Underground routes in my opinion but saying that, London Underground is still highly unlikely as a result of the things mentioned above by fellow members of the community. However, they could task this route for JT as they did it justice in TSC. They would already have the information available to make this route work
Same I hope we do get the metropolitan line my favorite tube line I’d love to drive between Wembley Park and and Finchley Road and fast metropolitan line non stop between harrow on the hill and Finchley Road since we dont have the jubilee line yet we don’t know which will come first
I'd also like District, but there are so many opportunities for additional service layers on the Met line, such as the Chiltern 166
Met Line comes up fairly frequently but it does seem a bit of a non starter if DTG are shying away from sorting out this light baking issue with below ground stations. However that doesn’t rule out Baker Street to Uxbridge, Amersham and Chesham as just Baker Street and then only the Circle Line platforms, are actually fully enclosed.
Yeah, Baker Street is exposed, but it has tunnels either side so...? It's an idea, but if DTG done half a route players would complain about just that, plus an underground service that doesn't go underground. Maybe with the WCML joining the Bakerloo DTG could remaster that first, if they can do parts without doing the light baking thing?
Other than the peak, don’t most of the Met Line services start and terminate at Baker Street anyway. Certainly in the days of the A60 stock when it was a treat to stand on the platform at Euston Square in the evening peak and the odd Met service break up the constant procession of C69 sets.
Yeah, I forgot about that, it has been a while. The fast, the semi fast and all stations out of Baker Street to Watford or Amersham, past Harrow on the bump.
