This is in Train Simulator Classic 2024.
As I'm new to this (but thoroughly enjoying it) I'm trying to work through the scenarios methodically. Trouble is the above named scenario doesn't seem to be working correctly. The little panel at the bottom of the screen shows approaching changes in speed limits, but there a point where the limit changes from 160 to 50 without warning leading to speeding penalties and I fail the scenario about 30 minutes later
Am I doing something wrong please? And if not is there a way around this?
    Thanks for any help.

Are you looking at the signals, usually this would be displayed on the signals, or with PZB active you'd get warnings. (I can't try the scenario now, but suspect there are some warnings displayed on the signals :) ).

(looking up the name it suggests Dresden to Riesa which is the better signalling if i remember correctly, so not the older DTG ones)

    Thanks for replying.
I'm looking at the scrolling Track Monitor. I think its a part of the HUD. Just tried the scenario again. The speedo on the HUD shows the speed and the speed limit. The Track Monitor shows any approaching speed limit changes the speed limit on the HUD drops from 160 to 50 without warning. The speeding penalties build up so quick its pointless continuing. I didn't notice any signage on the track itself.

What i'm saying is the signals themselves will show a yellow number as a warning say 5 = 50km/h and then a white number 5 to show where the speed starts. These are separate to the actual speed limit signs themselves, and is something german routes in particular have. Although there are also different signals that show speeds without numbers :) - see page 30 in the manual

On German routes you Drive to the Signals which will tell you to slow down even if the track speed says otherwise
This will show the difference between UK and German routes

    Route: Bahnstrecke Riesa–Dresden
Scenario: 5. Regional Express at Sunrise
Notes from my web site: Note signalling in Europe is unlike UK or USA signalling. Always best to check manual for rules deployed with each DLC
DO NOT rely on the HUD. It displays track speed. Signal speed supersedes this value. Takes a bit of practise. Enjoy!

    Hi everyone.
I'm a newbie too, and I can't succeed to complete this scenario getting some reward.
I try to keep my speed always on the edge, +1km/h / -2km/h, trying to be just a bit under the speed limit.
I optimized my braking strategy in order to brake as fast as possible, without getting penalties for bad driving.
I don't trust to much about the line panel, trying to look at the actual line signaling.
Despite this, I always get some delay on the last two or three stops, getting some "timelines" negative points, and when I finish my score is never above 300 or 400 pts. The last messages says "congratulation. You completed the scenario!", but on the scenario list it appears not to be completed, with no stars and no check mark. I'm quite disappointed.
Moreover, it seems to me that the timetable is way too strict, almost impossible to be respected without breaking the speed limit.
What is your point of view?

Career Scenarios are not realistic and are for those people who like to score points.
Standard Scenarios will not give you any points but the timetable is more realistic.

Thank you. So I will enjoy trying to run the Career Scenarios at my best ability, without caring too much about points and realism. Then I'll focus on Standard Scenarios. Thanks for your hint.

To be honest Career Scenarios are more fun if you turn off the scoring mechanism. You will still get completion just not points. This can be done in the Settings option. The scoring mechanism is broken all over the place. I have mine switched off and play the simulator for what it is. Unlike the TSW version which tries to be an Arcade style system (also available on consoles) TSC is a much more technical simulator with the ability to run anything anywhere and the ability to modify what you need. Start basic with DTG/Steam product and gradually build your portfolio. There is some amazing stuff out there. Have a look at my database:

I thought I did videos of these scenarios. Apparently I never posted them. Amazing.

Anyway, the numbers on the signals can be hard to see when going fast, but yes. They are something that has caught me out many a time. Sometimes you have to play the scenarios to know how to play around them for timing, then try again knowing the route. Very often, once you know a certain signal will present a speed change, you will come to expect it if you are routed a similar way in the future. Don't forget you can always save after a perfect segment and come back, as well.
