At least his eye finally seems to be moving - based on the screenshots at least. I really hope that's the case. The completely static lifeless stare forward in the trailer was really uncanny.

Love that the director is also included, lol.

While it's not something I will be getting, hopefully it will be a fun experience to those who may like it.

Also, it's interesting how they will be incompatible with any other rolling stock, since it's just a regular buffer and chain coupling. Must be some licencing thing I guess.
But if they are incompatible with other stuck, then what are those short box cars? Those are not the troublesome trucks. Are they and the brake van also special faced characters?

 

£20 for a souped up gameplay pack... Should have just made Sodor and charged 30...

It's a real shame the Thomas stock is incompatible with other TSW stuff but I suppose there's probably some restrictions from Mattel's end on this. Definitely the case with the Livery Designer, though it would've been nice to see some presets like Thomas' LBSC livery.

Really curious to see how the eyes and faces work during gameplay. Glad to see they're not just fully static the whole time.

They fit in surprisingly well considering what they are. WSR does have quite a Sodor feel to it so it's been a great pick for a home away from home for Thomas.

Would there be a way to export the model to blender or whatever they use and make changes to the paint scheme I wonder.

I think I'm intrigued on this one it has to be said. I like the addition of a timetable with the 47 and the 09 that could be slightly interesting. Still a little worried what simplified brakes and throttle looks like honestly surely can't be both locos having 1 handle?

The story driven scenarios and voice over with cut scenes does sound interesting though.

I'm still 50/50 but then the updates to WSR and the beauty of that route definitely pique my interest somewhat

This is how it is. DTG are a business at the end of the day. And they choose what makes them the most money.

 

Honestly, I can't believe, that that will bring a lot of money... I think most customers of a rail sim would prefer realistic routes...

Well that's the point isn't it. The target market is not serious rail simmers. It's the Moms, Dads and Grannies and Grandpas and the more casual gamers ( who might be one and the same. )

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a modest success over time, as long as it's not buggy and doesn't have performance issues. Kids won't be filing support tickets, will they.

 

Well no ill will towards those who will buy and enjoy this but, really?

Maintain it should have come with it's own route based on the Isle Of Sodor, cut down in scale SCS style, Something like Phorum Peninsula in TSC which used the Isle Of Portland in Dorset for its geography. That could have been quite fun and even appealed to the grizzled Vinnie Jones type train simmers like me.

Forgive me, but I will pass on this and spend 33 beans on the Dutch route instead.

Well, if it does better than the Welsh or Dutch routes, which are also releasing this month, that " business " may decide that the toy and arcade game is the way to go, to the detriment of the Sim.

And you, Antony, may have to preview more toys than you'd like.

Maybe we should all buy the Dutch route to tilt the odds, overpriced though it may be.

Barring anything ghastly wrong on the stream, 95% certain I will be getting this one.

One thing I would say is that DTG don't seem to have planned the timing on these releases very well - I mean we had Ludwig, then hot on the heels of that Mildmay. Cardiff tomorrow, now Tom on Thursday and the Dutch route next week. Then I bet there's nothing for several months!

 

£108 of DLC in one month, is that a record?

I can only imagine what those outraged at this DLC's existence would have gotten up to if Livery Designer was enabled for this.

Not much left on the roadmap, at least not routes. S-bahn Frankfurt should come pretty soon, Tadami and Manchester Airport is anyone's guess....

 

The copy was prepared in advance and possibly scheduled for automatic release.

From apparent behaviour around patch deliveries, they seem to not have a clear release date because of the QA-and-fix cycle, so I imagine that the patch released sooner than possibly originally expected by the community team, and they’ve clearly not updated this post to reflect that the patch is already out.

A bit sloppy, at worst, but no one died, right? So entirely forgiveable!
