Doing the route introduction. So Cardiff Central is the hub for trains all over the EASTERN United Kingdom is it?
It's not Mildmay. It really is just error after error with DT. Whether it's routes or basic forum admin.
Noticing a significant amount of audio popping on the class 153 on Xbox Series X, especially when idling.
Hi folks, I've corrected the Mildmay typo at the top Just a mention for the couple issues spotted so far, I've logged the screenshots of the artefacts appearing under the units for our testers to review, and I will pass on mentions of sound popping to our audio team. Thank you for the feedback folks, we'll keep a close eye on this thread for additional mentions - please include your Game Platform and Screenshots if possible as this helps massively.
hmmm Arrived into Coryton. SHut Cab down, went back for a service back to Penarth, doors all closed. But brakes won't release as Interlock Lights are still on.
ok class 153/9 loaded has an issue on xbox series S the doors are locked had to go through the front to get in and theres no sound at all but the class 153/9 empty works fine ??? (spawning in free roam )
Scenery at Whitchurch really doesn't look great horrible copy pasted hedgerow and the buildings (that grey one especially) and area aren't up to the standards of other places on the route. There should also be a hedgerow along the fence line. The next station along the lines has the same issue with repeating hedge textures also
"Bay blockage" on PS5, Once I've coupled up to the 150 at Cardiff Bay I'm told to head towards Cardiff Queen Street. The train won't accelerate. All brakes are released, it's coupled successfully to the other 150, Power is taken but it's like it's anchored to the spot. Won't move at all. Edit: Though it doesn't tell you, you have to press couple on the other 150 as well. Then you can start moving. Double edit: Don't do that, it uncouples the 150s
Thanks Alex. I noticed in your Xbox sale forum post, the links provided in the post do not work: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/xbox-game-pass-family-sale-until-24th-march.90118/. I couldn't reply as it's locked, but just wanted to inform you.
Ah thank you for the mention, this thread should be open - but the links weren't working so I've updated all of these now
Well managed to figure it out, it was 153/9 PS5 it was. 2C04 it was on. I had to open the others doors which weren’t the platform side then close them which was strange
Well, my initial thoughts are: The route itself feels VERY lacklustre. The sense of “unfinished” springs to mind around the entire “Network”. The Class 150. We all know that on WCL, it was an atrocious pile of… well, you know. And with CCN, they certainly had their chances to redeem it. It’s all well and good remodelling it to a modern standard, but the focal point for us train enthusiasts is the sounds. And this just doesn’t cut the mustard one bit. A feeble attempt to make amends in my eyes. The services are mostly made up of Depot Shunts, or the odd 5-15 minute services. I understand this is a “Network” route, but vast majority of the services we run are snippets of the real world. It completely baffles me as to why they didn’t add Merthyr Tydfil, Aberdare or Barry Island. At least then we’d have proper end to end running, not just parts of them. The Class 153 (Dogbox). Okay this? With minor defects here & there, I can put to one side because this little thing is simply brilliant. The audio (which I believe came from ScotRail), actually makes it feel real. I’ve completed 3 end to end runs from Coryton to Penarth with it, and it was brilliant! From thrashing it up to Dingle Road to getting up to speed between Queen Street and Heath Low Level, it was a blast. Overall, I genuinely think they dropped the ball on this route. This one could’ve had the potential to be a proper bustling little route. But I’m afraid it doesn’t cut the mustard.
Thank you for the feedback, did it electrically connect as well? make sure you couple then put into neutral then press couple button
Yes it was electrically coupled, I put in neutral and pressed couple as the game asked me to. I did eventually find a way around it but I had to put the reverser into forward in the rear unit as well. Which I don't think is supposed to happen.
Ps5 - 1.150 headlights need to be a bit brighter driving night service I can hardly see a thing. 2. When closing the doors from the control box in the coaches the local door opens and closes really slowly.
Someone has already mentioned this bug but there are some bright shapes appearing under the units on SERIES S.
Ok the class 153 training is broken (Xbox series x) I am spawned inside the train to begin with and when asked to sit in the driver's seat it physically won't let me.
Xbox series X, doesn’t appear to be any flange squeal on the 153 (they’re quite noisy IRL), and the above mentioned artefacting under the units. Engine noise on the 153 does seem a bit quiet in the cab, and there’s an awful matte glare on the cab window. GMSR doesn’t seem to function in the no.2 end either.
XBOX SERIES X GSMR won't register in no.2 end of the class 153. Won't even turn on. Timetable service 12:40 canton depot shunt.
PS5. The Audio when in exterior view using the 153 is poor quality. Sounds like when you have the bass too high on a cheap stereo. Crackly when the train gets to full revs.
So far, in my personal and rather relaxed opinion; the route is great and so is the rolling stock! The layers in and around Cardiff are a nice touch and definitely make the place feel more alive.. the amount of passengers in Cardiff seems a tiny bit underwhelming but I do know that's a core issue. The only glaring issues I found were; • A mysterious, outline sort of thing under all the new units; 153/3, 153/9 and the 150/2. Haven't got a clue what that could be but it is quite annoying, as seen below. ↓ • Whitchurch is a quite disappointing - untextured buildings and the hedge just doesn't look right. This doesn't really bother me too much as I don't pay much attention to trackside things as is, but it does still need sorting out... • And, my only other complaint is that the 150/2's driveshaft is NOT animated, despite it being advertised.... But so far, other than those two issues and the core issue with passengers not being massively present - I love the route and rolling stock, and I'll definitely be doing some more driving now! -I'm on Xbox Series S.
Thank you for the feedback, I'm glad you're enjoying the route so far! Just to mention, the issue with the artefacting underneath the units has been logged, and we've passed on the feedback for the route scenery. Thank you for sharing the screenshots, this is very helpful to our teams!
You're more than welcome! Something else I noticed is that the engine sounds are pretty quiet, even with both cab windows open... This isn't a huge issue, but it happens on all the new units.
I know some of the issues I’ve got opinions on in the other thread may never be looked into - but, if the 150 sounds don’t get a recording session. Can you look into using the AWS sound from the 153 on the 150? It would at least make it sound fit for the time period the dlc is set in.
I’ve noticed a few things not right with the 150/2: - lack of running sounds both interior and exterior - No brake rub interior and exterior another audio tweak you guys could do is Adjust the revs in Notch 3 on Both the 153 & 150. When departing in Notch 3, the revs build up and rev high as they should but when they drop back down, they Drop WAY too low and quiet compared to real life. I work with these sprinters and the notch 3 “Resting” revs (after they’ve revved up), should rest/idle higher! as someone mentioned above, the driveshaft/Camshaft under the 150/2 is not animated despite it being advertised. apart from that, I’m enjoying it, sounds just need to be louder and tweaked! For reference regarding the Notch 3 revs, look at Armstrong Powerhouse 150/2 Enhancement pack video, you’ll get a better image!
PS5 I do a run from Coryton to Penarth, whilst changing ends to return to Caerphilly the brakes will not release. Happened also on a Penarth to Coryton. Changing ends on a single 153 renders the brake release inoperable. Any 153 service that you change ends, the brakes will not release
I'm LOVING that the 153 actually has dampened audio, as if the sound dampening of the cab is actually working 153 and 150 have good clag.
If there’s one thing I say to sum up this DLC it’s Exceeds Expectations Whilst always a Day One purchase, I was pleasantly surprised. Positives: 153 sounds are good The route is busy! It’s feels like a proper suburban commuter network. Cardiff Central is busy Coryton branch the stand out by far, although Cardiff Central to Penarth is also impressive. There are some nice custom assets and nice dense scenery in places. Negatives: Even though the 153 sounds are good, I feel like notch 3 and 4 should have more oomph it drops off around 5 mph. But that’s the only downside. GSMR not active in the small cab of the 153 and cab labels missing. To sit down after standing up I had to lower and higher the seat. Also AWS on the 153 is copy/paste from the 150. Which is a shame. Whitchurch - I’m not sure what happened here, all very copy and paste and generic. Cardiff Queen Street closing doors on a red - this was on 2C48 1735 Penarth - Coryton. Timetable - a frustration all 30 second stops even at Cardiff Central and Queen Street. I can’t say a negative as such but I wish a Valley Line to Merthyr/Aberdare was included instead or even to Caerphilly. To sum up, I’m pleasantly surprised, more than I thought I’d be! I’m quite happy with this route it does need some polish but let’s see how we go with updates. It’s a busy route, there was plenty of traffic at Cardiff Central and throughout the route, which is exactly what this type of network route should be! More of these, DTG! Overall I think a fair 7/10, I think this was quite a good piece of DLC. Maybe should have been priced at £24.99 or even £26.99 but still I’m happy with it.
Couple of minor issues with the 153 so far from a guard's perspective (not tested the 150/2 yet) -Door control buttons light up as soon as the unit stops and not when you press door release, and the lights go out when the unit starts to move and not when you click door close on the panels. (The orange lights on the public open/close buttons) -When you turn the local door switch off after giving a door release (e.g to change ends or which panel you're using) the door closed when as far as I'm aware it should remain open if a door release has already been given but just turn off the lock open isolation. Edit: - PC, Steam
I'd say that is prototypical as the seats are sprung upwards (unless of course you find yourself working in a unit where the springs have given up!)
