During heavy rain I am getting massive low spikes in fps every 2 seconds, it's actually quite bizarre how timed they are, they aren't random timing they are at steady 2 second intervals. This was solved with the 2nd most recent update (13/03/2025) https://steamdb.info/patchnotes/17687040/

Now the most recent update (17/03/2025) has completely undone this! https://steamdb.info/patchnotes/17711003/

I don't know exactly what was changed to fix and then unfix this but to be completely honest it's one step forward two steps back at the moment.

Whatever has been done to at least one of these files has reinstated this very annoying problem.

On all unfortunately, seems like it's a core issue since the latest update only changed core files.
It also doesn't matter if the route is busy, new, old etc. It's constant during thunderstorms and heavy rain.

I'll get a video since I backed up the game files from before the last update.

Also I'm running this on XB1X
Running a 378 TFL scenario engineering works. The rain is there but not heavy, but I can hear very well, and the second-man windscreen wiper will not turn on.

Heres a video comparing. It's most easy to make out the stutter when I'm looking at the drivers chair from side to side. It happens constantly. The settings are the same in each video, same resolution and graphics settings on the same pc etc. its all the same apart from the version.

Yes, I did see it, and it does get annoying when they keep doing this, with the Gen 8 console it will not go away, but I really wish they would get some good coders to get this all straightened out. And regardless of what you play on it's not bugged or full of stutters and hiches.

I would not be surprised if it was a happy accident on DTGs part, but honestly, I have stopped trying to make sense of how and what DTG does when they push a patch out. To many head aches :)

I wouldn't sign it now, the problem still exists. I have an RX 6900XT since the last updates, whenever it starts to rain, the FPS keeps dropping, which is really annoying.
I did a little testing. If you go into the game and activate the fps display with F3, then open the photo mode in free play from 60% the fps starts dropping from 60 to 45fps. If you set the rain to 100% the fps drops and rises from 60 to 25 and back to 60, and that happens the whole time.
It would be cool if someone could address the problem. The game becomes unplayable when it rains.

    BUMP!

This issue described by @IvyJoanTurner is now back in full pain after recent May Steam patch. It is making my game completely impossible to play the moment it starts to rain or snow. This issue was fixed back in April I believe, but has mysteriously returned after previous patch!

I'm running TSW5 on a Ryzen 7 7800 X3D, 7900 XTX, M2 SSD, 64 GB, and my CPU is literally choking with fans going crazy when loading a scenario in heavy rain or snow storm. FPS is constantly zig zagging to hell. Also when using the Photo Mode the game wants to hang around for +15 secs when entering and exiting the Photo Mode (only in rain / snowy conditions). It is abnormally weird behavior. I don't run any mods, my drivers are up to date, game files verified, and the game is running like candy outside rain / snowy -conditions. I think we got a case here.

I hope this gets looked and fixed by DTG asap. Thank you!

Yeah, I noticed it got fixed I believe back in April (I was surprised I could enjoy rainy conditions once again, hurray!), but has now returned in full aggression....

Excellent material, thanks for posting! This is exactly what I'm experiencing as soon as it starts to rain / snow. It is unplayable, the game is holding the performance back big time.

Yep the dogdoo performance in rain/snow is back in full force after the most recent update, I don't know how they keep breaking this.

    Quick update! :D

A new patch has gone live today on Steam and I could tell right off the bat that some positive changes had been made, albeit nothing was mentioned about this issue in patch notes. It makes me worry that this could possibly return in the future...

I started scrolling back and forth thru custom rain / stormy weather settings in the timetable menu, and the lag that used to "hang" the game before up to +10 secs was gone. I jumped into a thunderstorm scene with all cats and dogs flying, and I'm happy to report - the performance was rock solid, no more fps dips, CPU feeling exhausted for nothing and Photo Mode hanging for no reason during enter / exit

Do try it yourself when you have the time, hopefully it is working for you as well. Let's hope this annoying bug doesn't reappear anymore...

Thanks for the update, hopefully they manage to keep it this way this time!

Edit: Yes can confirm this issue has been resolved... for now. I am starting to think this is something being done and broken in a rush which is then fixed for each major update.
