I've looked but could never find anything concrete, but I've heard rumours it was between 40-45mph in Sections.

I belive it was upto 60mph on some sections.

You can comfortably achieve that on tsw. Obviously there's a few tight curves on the line which would probably be 40 or below.

I don't know about the br days, I imagine the line was in a poor state of repair by then and lower restrictions applied.

Wow I’m sure glad I came across this thread. I bought the route in a sale ages ago but never really gave it much of a go because of the low speeds. I’ve been down an out with a nasty cold this week so pretty low energy today and a nice, slow, run across this beautiful route in the Class 33 (just bought in the sale) was exactly what I needed. There’s so many stations to that it doesn’t seem that monotonous for the speeds. Lots of speed changes too which can be tricky in these old locomotives.

I’ll echo my praise to Liam for the work in revamping this route, well done!

West Somerset isn't a route I play constantly, but when I'm in the mood for it, nothing else will do. Described it on another site as the TSW version of a nice, relaxing bath.

I like WSR but I feel having it as the first heritage railway was a bit of a mistake. The long distance beetween stations and relativley bland scenery opposed many in this community to 'trundeling along at 25mph'. I feel heritage would be more well recieved with a scenery intense line such as the SVR with viaducts and bridges

What it lacks in scenery it makes up for in inclines and mixture of speed limits, hauling a heavy train down an incline with a 10mph speed limit approaching can be hard work in knowing when to brake or how much to brake etc etc.

A BR Blue version would be right at home at Waterloo if we were to get some sort of run between Waterloo and Woking in the 80s.

I remember when it was first announced it was stated it would be available in several liveries.

    I'm still disappointed we haven't got a BR blue version...or a 33/1 variant.

At least now you know what game to buy next when you need to be scared silly

My next suggestion is to watch a video f it on your break tonight in the cold, empty, deserted, spooky train station/depot/stabling track (delete as appropriate)

Whilst WSR is a fantastic route (especially thanks to the recent Remaster), it’s not my favourite route. I don’t think it was the best idea to have the UK’s longest heritage railway as the first heritage railway route for TSW and thus has caused some players to be against the idea of having more heritage railways in TSW

My only real issue with WSR is that it drags on a bit, what with 25mph as the max speed, but that's not DTGs fault.

I do like that other BR diesel locos layer on to give a bit of variety on what to drive though, plus somewhere else to drive the Flying Scotsman (the only steam I currently have other than the training centre 8f) is nice too
