I pay attention to my track monitor, but even then, as soon as I see triangle, I start braking, and usually that gets me down to the limit quickly... the most you will lose is some pts for one segment, not a big deal
yep, noticed that too, cos right after doing the ATB tutorial I was like where the hell are the switches, but found em soon enough ... anyway, the ICM is very cool, super chill to ride, but atm I prefer the SNG, kinda similar to Stadler Flirt, and has just the right distances between stations to be very engaging, also has more speed changes along the route what I would love to know is which services have 2x ICM... cos when just in 3car 1x unit, they look kinda tiny, even with that big nose
In timetable mode it usually does not matter much but in some scenarios it can be the difference between gold and platinum, depending on the mood of the dev that made it (and I'm a timetable person, hate to repeat scenarios). Also, if it is wrong it is better that they fix it now so they do not carry any bugs to (hopefully) future NL routes.
I saw some buttons on the desks that reset the deadman as if you pressed the pedal, but I think you can't leave it in a pressed state. Didn't see anything button similar to DRA yet, but can't say it is not there. Just that I did not see it.
I've noticed this also happening on other TSW4+ scored routes like LIRR commuter, for example, where you're penalized even though you've made the correct decision of acknowledging safety systems and reducing speed. Sadly, I doubt they'll correct this as it's been brought up a lot over the past year, and they haven't done anything. :/
Is there a possibility to drive the ICMm on stopping services? It used to be really common to see ICMm’s on the stopping services a few years ago in real life. Man I wish I could play this already but I have to wait until Monday.
This route is amazing! I bought it immediately when i came back home. + i had these bad boys laying arround to be prepared! Finally we got our country!
New all time high on Steam, already more than 39 positieve reviews on Steam. I think we wil see more NL routes in the future. Hopefully they fix the OHLA in the coming months and add Dutch Farms they are missing on this route. But the Stations and trains are very good and I hope they continue with this better routes quality trend
TSW depicts the modernised Koplopers (ICMm instead of ICM), which no longer have the walkthrough head. The big yellow plate at the front is where the doors used to be. But who knows - the route is quite popular if the numbers on Steam are anything to go by. Perhaps DTG will set a future route in the past and release an unmodernised ICM with walkthrough head. In TSClassic, if you happen to own that, both ICM and ICMm are available from Christrains. The ICM comes with versions with walkthrough head enabled and without.
Technically, there's no such concept as an announcement in ATB. As soon as you pass a speed limit (static or dynamic), the speed limit comes into effect. ATB however allows you to gradually brake towards the new limit, so it doesn't stop your train immediately. But that's the technical side of things. In regulations, you need to have achieved the new speed limit be either the next signal (dynamic) or the white-square speed sign that will follow a triangular limiter sign. Those are usually placed at such a distance that you will have achieved that speed while braking with the minimum enforced brake limit. In practice, when you pass a sign or a signal showing a speed limit, ATB will sound the bell, and you need to set the brakes to at least the predefined minimum brake setting (see my previous explanation) and slow down. You'll know you've set it to the minimum, as the bell will stop ringing and the white brake indicator light comes on. ATB isn't satisfied until you reach that speed (plus a grace window of about 4 km/h above it) and will halt your train if you do not obey.
So, i checked the Formation designer, but couldn't connect any of the icmm trains. I could only spawn 1 trainset/treinstel.
You're not the first to make that connection. In fact, both KLM and MartinAir (two Dutch airlines) have ran total advertising on Koplopers in the past, where the Koplopers carried the livery of the airplanes of those companies. KLM applied their Boeing 747 livery to unit 4011 between 1986 and the early 90s:
"Rangieren", which means "shunting". Basically, it's series connection of motors with minimal voltage applied, just enough to move at shunting speeds.
Something needs be done with this deadmans switch on controller pressing B button constantly because it is slow to acknowledge it. Keeps doing me over
I noticed this on blackpool branches yesterday!, seems a problem across more routes. Ill test it on the new carlisle route now.
For me, on every route the instructions are gone in the timetable menu, can somebody confirm this? Seems to be on all routes. Im on pc
Im on xbox x i can see where i have to stop but that's all still saying on foot doesn't show ap points just a tick
for me it does practically everywhere... last couple days I did play San Bernardino, Birmingham, some Ludwigsbahn, and this new route, and it happened to me on every one of those anyway, another thing I noticed is that both ICM and SNG, on that short 0.7% descent, if you are in idle, you still lose a bit of speed, which is weird, cos that kind of grade usually results in slight gain of speed... and on SNG, I noticed that near max limit speed aka 140 kph, you have to keep around 30% throttle to keep speed, which is unusually high, but I dont know the machine that well, so it could be down to high speed and some rolling resistance but still a great route, yesterday played the hell out of it and will continue... wish I knew which services have at least 2x ICM, cos at 1x it looks kinda tiny even with that elephant nose lol
Really fun route. I don't know if it's recognition bias but I was very surprised with this route. The amount of detail really surprised me. Most of the countries in TSW I have never driven by train but the Netherlands I have travelled a lot by train and if all feels very familiar. Really hope to see Amsterdam - Rotterdam or another main route come to life in TSW. I'm done with Germany. Make the Netherlands the new Germany and when you are at it finally expand to Belgium.
a little detail I really love about this route are the big S signs that let you know a station is coming, and truly, if you start braking gently at the sight of that sign, you will come to a nice comfy stop at the station... very handy
Someone made a patch for the atb low volume sounds lol. https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/mods/c3-train-sim-world/c19-patches/i6115-el-ns-icm-deadman-patch
Exactly, so nice! Unrelated, but similarly cool: just noticed the game is number 2 on the bestsellers list in Steam, followed by the Dutch DLC :')
I noticed there seems to be a bit of drag or inertia, even on level track, more than you would expect when coasting. At first I thought I hadn’t fully released the brakes on the ICM but checked and all the gauges showing correctly. So definitely looks like an inertia value is a bit off and needs some tweaking.
Now is just me or is these trains bad at coasting you always have to have power running to keep to the speed limit in both trains.
The ICM is pretty accurate. But the SNG is horrible, you should be around 15% traction when coasting around 140kmh.
Best Loco DLC is for now the DDZ. This train is running everday on this route in real life here you see it: Vertrektijden station Groningen VIRM good for another route but not for Zwolle - Groningen
Can’t get enough of the ICM, the track rumble and the motors just sound so good, dare I say it’s one of the best sounding trains in game?
Why is the game telling me that I am driving too fast? I am in the ATB Brake Curve and as visible on the HUD, the speed limit of 40km/h is starting in 968meters... This gives me gold instead of a platinum medal...
Also, quick question. I've noticed a lot of signals show green etc on both sides of the track - why is this?
I know, this is the only problem I have with the route so far. We should not be penalized for this. This kept me from getting platinum yesterday as well.
Freeroam, or create your own scenario, not by substitution. I think the late and very early trains have some additional stops.
It's a game core issue. It may or it may not be solved at some point. Better not care to much about the points you get. This gives stress and you cannot change it.
In a cab ride video some time ago, either Stefan or Cab Ride Holland, went into the area and it is basically an empty space with the nose in front. I also seem to remember that some of the structure for the diaphragm to extend was still there.
If you really want to drive the ICMm but also stop at all stations for some more action on your journey, there are a few timetable services in the early morning, late evening, and even one at night that make all stops. You can easily find them by looking for services with a duration of at least an hour and a few minutes—just focus on those that take more than an hour to easily find them.
- For a fun and dynamic shift, I recommend the 516 service. You start early in the morning with the 04:54 service, bringing a single ICMm unit into operation. Upon arrival in Groningen, you couple to another ICMm unit. If you stay in the driver’s seat, you seamlessly continue into the next service, now operating a double ICMm train towards Zwolle, stopping at all stations along the way. Edit: If you do the service in the summer period you will be driving with light if you don't want to drive in the dark.
How many Vectron services layer into this i only have one and i own all the relevant routes as well or is that correct.
P (permissive/automatic block) signals default to green unless the block they control is occupied (Red) or they need to display a color/number related to the next signal in line. On "Dual Single Track" (both tracks are signaled and set up to run both directions) this can be useful to turn a train with full protection mid journey due to unforeseen problems further up the line. Normal controlled signals (no P plate) default to Red and are controlled by the train controllers.
What’s that 15% based on? I only ask because DTG said that NS were very cooperative and they were out for the day with the real trains for reference, so I would expect it to be fairly accurate, and when I was driving the SNG in game, based on how little acceleration there was at full power once I was nearing 140 kmh, around 30% seemed about right to maintain that speed. It’s what I instinctively reduced the power to at first. I’m only just reading now on the forum that some people think it’s too high. I also didn’t notice anything unusual in how the trains decelerated when coasting with power shut off. I don’t have any experience in the real world to tell if it’s right though.
