Rivet games isle of wight line has at the smallbrook junction station has some track representing the end of line for the steam isle railway.Which you can place a train and drive it on that piece of track.

So what i'm wondering is does rivet games Edinburgh Glasgow route (I ask because i don't have this route yet and considering it limited nature i'm looking for a reason to possibly purchase it) which includes a length of tram line allow you access to the line and allow a train placement option?

With all the games newer options it may now be possible to place trains on some track not original useable.

You used to be able to but they updated the route with an invisible wall so you can't walk onto it anymore. Maybe there's another way but I don't know it.

I personally like it when I'm able to do this in free roam, but it seems that the general mindset is that the developers don't like leaving those open. I'd wager that ~80% of lines going off world have an invisible barrier to stop you.

They do, but mostly so that someone can't complain that the route is "unfinished", when I reality all they did was step outside the main area.

I think Fife Circle still has the option to place a train and still go down to Queen Street, albeit no scenery at points.

The IOW steam line stub is a bit hopeless because you can't use it in scenarios as it has no markers.

However the tram lines in EDN-GLA can be used in scenarios are driveable if you use a short wheelbase loco. The only thing that doesn't seem to work are the crossovers between the 2 tram running lines.

EDN-GLA also has a lot of extra running lines that can be brought into the game to make life more interesting. I have made a mod to add extra paths for PC players which I will release shortly. (Look at the link in my signature if you want to know more).

Probably because of the amount of work to develop the tram so its drivable.

It does, but that shouldn't be there.

If you load up Fife Circle and follow the line to Glasgow, you'll be able to walk or drive its entire length to Glasgow Queen Street.

They basically left the entire Edinburgh Glasgow route in the Fife Circle route and never removed it.

Honestly they should of just fused the two routes together instead of having two separate routes in the first place

Perhaps. But that would've reduced their revenue stream by 50%. What was annoying, though, is that they never resolved all the bugs around Haymarket Depot. Unlike Eastfield this was poorly built in EDN-GLA and then simply cut & pasted into FCL. Inexcusable shortcut IMHO.

Wait... you can drive to Glasgow on Fife? (Not that it's a very interesting section, but still that's odd....)

Pretty sure you were able to drive down the Leven branch before it was completed too, I remember watching videos doing so by both British Ace and TinTin 57

You can certainly go all the way to Glasgow, yes. For some reason.

I can understand that because the Leven extension was planned from the beginning. They'd already laid the basics down waiting for the route to fully reopen.

As for the Glasgow stretch, that shouldn't be available at all on this route.

In theory yes, but a bit awkward in practice. You can ride a 385 all the way if you want.
There's also a timetabled ECS you can drive from Glasgow to Eastfield depot! Weird & wonderful!

So to save time I assume, they've just copied in the entire E2G route and deleted scenery where not required.

Alternatively, is the fife circle line on E2G?

Wonder if that could be one of the reasons performance was so bad

Probably not if west coast main line 1980s can run fine I fail to see how these two Scottish routes combined would tank performance, they probably made them separate from extra money
