As usual, we reach the start of April with very few Dovetail projects on the horizon as their attention shifts to the summer releases. Dovetail's only projects remaining on the roadmap are the Frankfurt S-Bahn route, Performance Updates and two one-person projects. The rest are third parties. Obviously, it's good to have so much in the pipeline from 3rd parties, but now - combined with the potential teasers from the April Fools Roadmap... What do we think's on the horizon?
DTG Releases around 8 routes per year. They are now done with TSW 5 and will release the remaining 4 routes in TSW 6.
Here my teories for TSW6: The US is replaced whit Japan Tadami line, Manchester Commuter UK core route and German core route is unknow
I doubt they would make a third party route (Manchester commuter) one of the core routes for TSW 6 considering the size of the route aswell
Well the question has been asked a few times in the Q&A about the absence of an in house UK or North American route with, from me, a leading question as to whether they even have any developers of such items on payroll any more. Remains to be seen if they answer it, of course.
I would imagine for the UK at least we’ll follow the theme of mainlines. Personally I’d like to see TPE, Chiltern or some more MML. The latter could have some pretty decent layering going on out of London & potentially give us a revamped 700 with somewhere to give it a decent run.
Would love to see some TPE and more northern stock. More MML is a big shout especially with a 222. A Chiltern or c2c dlc is definitely pending A greater anglia Route would have me at DTGs doorstep with money in hand
I do wonder what feature they will try to justify TSW6 with this time around, just to completely forget about implementing or finishing it for another year, yet again. Will they be finally fixing the Creators Club user interface? Or fix the passenger spawning? Live weather? Either way it's going to be ridiculous. So bored of this cycle.
TSW6 with dynamic events/chaos factor as a headline core feature on new routes going forward. Except, it won’t work as promised, and most players will just disable it like they do with dynamic weather.
Except its in the 0 to 3 months so I'd expect it to be by end of June. Before the new version comes out.
I have a feeling any hope of more save slots etc. has been relegated to whatever happens in September, if even then.
Personally I'd rather they kept to TSW5 and released a 'core pack' of routes in the autumn. The thought of having to reinstall the game and all the DLC yet again, then seeing what mods are broken in a new version, is frankly depressing.
Yeah, I know DTG made it so players can switch to the next game free for a limited time but that just proves that it was pointless to move up from 4 to 5 in the first place. They could’ve done the core TSW5 routes as a themed pack and stayed in TSW4. The whole numbering thing is starting to look silly in my opinion. Not to mention we’re going to eventually have 10 instances of the same game in our Steam/PS/Xbox libraries with duplicates of the same DLC… It’s just so messy. Personally, I think we should still be on TSW2. Almost everything added since has been minor engine upgrades, unlike the swapping of UE versions between TSW2020 and TSW2. TSW3 should’ve only come into existence when the game becomes a Gen9/PC only experience. TSW4 & 5 shouldn’t be a thing. Fun fact, the Discord activity status detection actually picks up the PC version of TSW5 as TSW4. Discord knows the truth!
Hit an iceberg and people are screaming, yes. Frankfurt S-Bahn is probably and hopefully close to release, german content for TSW5 consisted of FTF which still has the base trains not working (although a recent patch made it at least not straight crashing) and MKN which was a complete dumpsterfire since the very beginning, and most people simply skipped it altogether, because the price point was a spit in the face. And short section on MITT, but Austria was the focus there. I imagine Frankfurt coming in late April, followed by LFR1984 in early June, and BR420 some time during the holidays. That's it, then the work will move towards the Berlin route teased in the roadmap, which will come as a core for TSW6.
Had this gut feeling for a while it'll be ECML South - Kings Cross to Peterborough and they'll announce some kind of upgraded route hopping to link it with Peterborough to Doncaster.
from all that, I am looking forward to Frankfurt S-Bahn and of course, GWE remaster and Koln Aachen timetable thing (I want more FlixTrain LZB action )... the rest, eeeh ... I am glad TSG do another thing, but I am not really into those vintage thingies... I'm still waiting for Desiro ML done on a decent level, that one would instantly turn any Austrian content into a banger
Berlin route? I didn’t pick up on that one. Pray, tell me more? S-Bahn or main line running from the city?
TSW 6, now all 3 Core Routes outsourced to Rivet, for further improving the teleport feature. Fully modeled Routes was yesterday. With the new StarTrek Teleport cone on track, players will be teleported directly into the terminus station of their line. So nobody will be a vicitim to our lack of passion. TSW 7: Lets skip all this, just give us the money. If you after purchais wont receive any content, its because there is none.
yes, is that time of year again... time of year where dtg prepares for one more iteration of tsw with new and innovative bugs and new broken (but not so innovative) features
Maybe the bus in the April fools roadmap? I saw it too, the red double decker which is clearly a SD202. It has the doors on the wrong side though, although they could've just mirror it... After all, I don't know of any place where SD202 ran outside Berlin (except for all the ex-Berlin buses running as Cabrio sightseeing buses now).
We do not. DTG however will do it anyway because it looks a bit better on their resume if they have a "new" game every year.
Yeah, SD202 were prominent BVG buses in (West-)Berlin between 1986 and 2009, aside of short excursion to Lübeck they never were anywhere else and the left side version to my knowledge never existed. If there was only one bus, one could wave it off as random AI vehicle, but there is three of them, and there is not much else of interest on the screenshot.. I was poking around old Berlin maps trying to find out what interesting routes you could build there that would make sense gameplay wise, probably set before opening of the new Hauptbahnhof in 2006, while distant trains were still running on surface. If stadtbahn that everybody asks for is included, it would lead to two possible branches that offer reasonable gameplay: Zoo - Friedrichstr. - Alexanderplatz - Hauptbahnhof (Ostbahnhof) - Ostkreuz - Flughafen Schönefeld & Königs Wusterhausen Potsdam & Seddin - Westkreuz - Zoo - Friedrichstr. - Alexanderplatz - Hauptbahnhof (Ostbahnhof) As anything including the stadtbahn requires rendering half of the city, I would not expect anything much longer. Potsdam branch would be interesting to see the sharp transition between former DDR area and west Berlin and Seddin would pair well with Ludmillas expected by the end of the year; Schönefeld branch would offer bit more varied gameplay for S-Bahn and passenger trains. If the SD202 is even more direct reference to OMSI, we could skip the stadtbahn and go for a long route in the northwest instead, with Spandau Fernbahnhof - Wittenberge route being around 110 km that fits exactly to the TSW standards.
Let's hope TSW6 takes us into Belgium, then they'll have to do a Desiro ML because there a lot of those running here.
first off, Desiro ML is the backbone of OBB's regional/commuter travel, even doing some CityJet Xpress services (which are sth like REX and IC combined), also doing occasional RJX replacement services ... it is almost everywhere in Austria... on Semmeringbahn it would do CJX9, it is also on Vorarlberg doing all kinds of stuff, and... well, everywhere where there is overhead wire if they did it for Austrian content, and did it well, I would jump through the roof
In terms of Austrian content, Tauernbahn: Schwarzach-St. Veit - Villach would be cool. Go all the way to Tarvisio Boscoverde in Italy (because that's where most freight trains would go) and you even have an additional country!
I would prefer Vienna... or Koralmbahn, recently constructed highspeed (also has regional services, I think) route between Graz and Klagenfurt... but any piece of some nice Austrian content with Desiro ML would be nice... and maybe one day we will see RailJet with properly done Taurus (the current one isnt bad, but has some ehm, stuff to it that makes me not play as much as I normally would - like incorrect AFB/LZB exit procedure, some other AFB stuff etc) since I travel to Vienna 1-2x a week (gym, plasma donation and city exploration), having a familiar piece of content would seriously rock
I notice the Q&A thread has been closed with many of the questions unanswered. Sorry for ping DTG Alex but could we have something on where we are with the save game issues that have been raised (slots etc.), performance and sound squelching plus several people I think were asking what's the chance of relenting on steam traction. Even if just the party line, it would be nice to have some acknowledgement.
I predict that TSW 6 will feature a capital city theme. USA Washinton DC - Baltimore UK London - Cambridge Germany Berlin to Wittenberg For New countries, I'm predicting Italy because it's one of the countries that made it to the 50 most requested routes list back in TSW2. Besides Italy, any country that borders Germany is possible.
You know what it's that time of year for? It's that time of year when this forum becomes nothing except a bunch of repetitive threads talking about a new TSW. It will come, the past two years have proven that.
Just a tiny bombshell for you, Bro ain't no bro, Jack is a she, so I think that should be come on Sis, not Bro........
I’ve only been around for a year or so on the forums, but yep.. I’d put money on TSW6 being announced (or leaked) in August. For the UK I can see there being another ‘first’ being muted - something like ‘the first modern loco hauled route’ or ‘first complete network route’.. it would have to have a ‘deluxe edition’ loco to complete the route too.. maybe the Class 68/DVT if it already came with a ‘new’ DMU. There’s definitely a formula to help narrow down the possibilities!
If it’s anything like what happened with Cardiff, instead of Marylebone to Aylesbury and Banbury or beyond, we will get Marylebone to West Ruislip and Harrow on the Hill, with Greenford to West Ealing thrown in as a bonus! Although I would prefer to see it set in older times, a pleasant surprise would be the revived Oxford to Bletchley route, maybe continuing on to Bedford.
It would be fun if they did a Railway 200 focus and go for a trio of historic routes... I would be very surprised to see that though!
They never finished WCMLs which was a core route for TSW5. There's multiple timetable layers missing that Matt Peddlesden promised STILL! plus DTG angered the makers of the route EPs so we aren't getting any now as they feel like they're making up for DTG sloppy standards. If they can't even be bothered to finish core routes between cycles I won't be supporting TSW6. There's plenty great games out there's, plus GTA6 is coming soon. I'll be one voting with my wallet this time around.
If new title comes out this time i may consider to pick up the free version remember the poor state of WCMLS
