Doncaster and York are pretty near each other. I believe that an extension to York could be possible! The scenary is 10 times more interesting and an extension is always greatly appreciated.

In the future you could include the Class 800 or the Intercity 225.

    Thanks for reading!

Doncaster to Newcastle would be good, would allow for route hopping at Darlington on to the Tees Valley line. Then one day also Newcastle to Carlisle.

I agree! I suggested York because its a small extension. If DTG does it, I hope its included and it's free.

It won't be free. They still need to put in time and money for it. They'd have to recreate the route as well.

That's true, but why did DTG choose this specific section of track? York is very close to Doncaster (like, 30 miles). It should have been a no-brainer.

Presumably they didn't go to York because it would be empty otherwise as the Azuma would be the only train there.

We've already had big stations with just one train (Manchester Piccadilly, Birmingham New Street), so I guess they wanted to avoid another, despite it being a logical end point.

I have a feeling it was built with extending to Richmond in mind though, whereas ECML as it is needs rebuilding (much like with SEHS) for any extension.

Plus, DTG didn't make Mildmay, but they made ECML, and aren't going to give an extension away for free; that privilege is primarily for remasters.

It's good and extension is coming to Mildmay it needed to go to Richmond also JT laid the track for the Windermere branch on WCML so hopefully we see that come in the future
