1. Remove the incredibly low service limit of 20 services from Gen 9 consoles 2 .Instead of the current UI, have a system where you can select a point on the map to start and end a service similar to Free Roam. This would also allow you to start/end anywhere on the map and not just at a station/siding. 3. Better labelling. "Reading Platform 4" for example doesn't tell me much, does it go northbound or southbound? Is it the slow line or the fast line? Having labels like these would help greatly and speed up the process. 4. Quick editing. Say I'm playtesting my scenario and I want to change the AI timings a little, at the moment I have to quit the scenario > go back to the main menu > go to scenario planner > edit the service; it's tedious. I would like to be able to edit stuff on the fly without having to go back to the main menu. 5. Add additional instructions. Currently scenario planner can only do A > B runs, give us the option to add additional objectives like go vias, couple up to, load coal etc 6. Remove strict profanity filters. This one speaks for itself. If anyone else has any good ideas feel free to comment and I may include them
Yes we need all of this. I hope and expect the next iteration of TSW will address the current limitations. It’s not exactly user friendly and why can’t I route a service onto the slow line?!!!
Totally agree, some good suggestions - scenario planner is very tedious! Some other things I'd like to see updated for it, including: - Allow start times to be selected by each minute i.e. 12:00, 12:01, 12:02 etc rather than the current every 5 minute intervals of 12:00, 12:05, 12:10 etc. - Notification of when a custom scenario is not able to be fully completed before you start i.e. how many times have you started playing a custom scenario only to get to a point when you realise it can't be finished. - Start/end points for every platform and siding. - Allow timetabled services to be transferred from timetable mode to scenario planner, so added AI traffic can be realistic.
I used to use the first generation MSTS scenario planner - this was all point and click on the track map. Not without issues I'm sure, but you could time AI traffic and add static consists freely. This new version in TSW with drop down text inputs is just baffling.
As someone who regularly uses Scenario Planner, here are my thoughts on this: Yes. 19 AI services + 1 player service isn't enough on some routes i.e. WCML South, and it makes sense for the limit being on Gen 8 due to the lower performance and memory on those consoles. However, the limit should not be on Gen 9 consoles, baring in mind that PC have no limits already. This. This is something that I have suggested in the past, to make it in line with something similar to what is on TS Classic. It would allow for the option to create your own paths as well i.e. using the loops on WCML Over Shap for freight services. With the current UI, the extra information would have to be crammed in somewhere between the platform/siding number and the platform/siding length. Unless improvements are made to the UI, it would make sense if after you confirmed the platform, it would have a path with e.g. for Reading Platform 4, 'Waterloo-Reading Line Eastbound to Portal' and/or 'NDL Eastbound to Portal'. Yes. Especially if it is right at the end of a scenario as well. Maybe a 'Creation Mode' type menu could come up where you could change AI timings during gameplay. The current process can be tedious, and you do not know if the game will crash/OOM whilst you are doing this (Gen 8 mainly). Yeah. It would increase the gameplay element that is currently lacking on Scenario Planner. Let's take Cathcart Circle as an example. I drive a 6-car Class 380 from Newton to Glasgow Central, and then I want to uncouple one set, and run a 3-car service around the circle. Currently I cannot do that, so by adding additional objectives i.e. uncoupling, it might make scenarios better and more varied than just A > B runs. I agree. This should also apply to Creators Club too. The filter can be annoying sometimes, especially if you think you have found the issue, but it won't let you continue creating the scenario until the 'profanity' is removed. TG08 .
One feature which would be useful and a timesaver is an auto AI train generator, similar to how Free Roam on TSC does it. But I fully agree with everything written above, SP needs to be far more sophisticated than it is currently and should offer the same level of complexity that the old MSTS AE and TSC editor do, but without having to fire up the actual UE editor.
Yeah, scenario planner is only really usable on routes that are short, or dont have many stations. Routes such as London-Brighton have so many stations, and slow/fast lines. So creating a scenario is pointless for me because I like lots of AI, but want to create my own scenarios so cant just spawn a train in timetable mode. I tried my best but it was just too empty.
