Liveries Rail 200. Preparations And Ideas For September.

I still think it's fun. It's just stressful the livery side slightly. Especially when having to compromise which I'll explain to you and TG08 at our next meeting. For now though, enjoy a nice sneak peak I'm uploading in 2mins.

I have subscribed to this livery. It looks good .

Here's some feedback I'd give, in the hope of helping you make the livery better (if you feel like it's needed):






I like the inspiration from how LNWR advertise destinations on their 350/3 units. It works well for the kind of approach we're going for.

However, there is one key element missing; branding. I know that it was probably done unbranded for the best, due to LNWR's license disappearing before the release of TSW5. If it was branded though, it would be absolutely perfect. In saying that, it's your call on whether branding is something you want to consider. Unbranded or branded, the main purpose is still the same, and it's on coach 2.

The advert itself. A thoughtful idea to promote the (real-life) event. It could urge people who play the Wembley 'edition' of 'The Greatest Gathering' (on TSW5) to consider going to the real 'Greatest Gathering' at Derby in the summer... The Rail 200 logo looks well integrated into the design too .

Overall (despite these minor issues), it does the job. I'd be very happy with it still. If you work on those things I've picked out, then it should be a job done! Well done to you! .

Hello, yes I can’t agree with TG08 more that livery looks well ace, I’d definitely recommend branding
I might do one then lol. But no just kidding what you have done is awesome especially with the advertising. That’s a brilliant idea, but if you want it to do well then as TG08 suggested adding the branding will add more appeal to it.

Your defo on a winner with that idea of advertising. It makes the whole livery unique.

Hello Folks.
Okay had some delays with the APT E themed livery, but it’s getting there.
So just a few photos.

You will notice it has a similar theme as 390 001. This is to give the livery and others that follow a organised theme set by one company.
That be Avanti as it’s the main TOC. So again this is just hypothetical kinda scenario if they did re brand some liveries for Railway 200.
Be a few days before this one is released tho.

And then…..

 

And now we have this. Been working on something similar for the class 43 but didn’t want to show as Jplays yes Jplays you was on the right path with the BR logo.
I kept saying stick with it because I knew using a large BR logo works.
Again I let you be over the last few days because a lot was going on and I knew you was doing work.
If I kept throwing liveries or ideas in the works then I could have added confusion.

Hence just relax and have fun and I nearly had a go at you to say mate you can do liveries and have some great ideas.
You just need to believe in what your doing and run with it.

There is only so may hints I can drop.
Why I have also said about sticking with 390s so we can replicate each others work as I mentioned in my DM.

So yes this is trying to stay original to your theme. Mix up of Avanti BR and APT.
Now you don’t have to worry about thinking of what to do. Just copy what I have done or help me adjust what you see on mine in order to fix what you was originally looking for.

Then finalise your 390 016 as I have done 390 014 in case you do a 390 015 as a new starter.
Have some running mates then

Anyway all what you see is the livery in testing stages. So things can be adjusted now if they need to be

Wow this looks great Ah I see what you meant with the 390s now. I may need time just so I can make it as close to your livery as possible before I make adjustments.

Haven’t the tickets sold out? But with that factor, this Wembley version could make people feel that they are at the greatest gathering, even if it is a different location.

Good afternoon everyone, the changelog has been updated to reflect the current state of the scenario (as of this afternoon). AI is nearly finished .

I also (sneakily) changed the changelog of 1Z01 yesterday to better reflect where that scenario is at in post-creation testing .

You see it works,,,I was using the window line as a central point of reference then sized it all up.

It may look odd to begin with but it’s all about sharpe edges to fit the theme of the BR logo. I love 70s design, especially Brutalist Architecture. Clean, functional. Again why I said sit relax and look at the work you had already done. Hoping you would have eventually see the idea too.
Again why I have been leaving you to flex your creativity

I feel we wasn’t working together closely enough recently tho. You have been doing other work, which again I am sorry for missing as I am following you.

Here we have a plan of action if 390s was something you like to work on or use. I am also aware of DLC situation that may make things harder for you to think of what to do next.
So I hope I have assisted you in suggesting the livery Ideas and a clear plan for you if you was getting stressed or worrying etc.

Again please accept any misunderstanding, I left you to it because it was so frustrating to see how close you was but I didn’t want to show you or tell. Because that would be me going back on giving you creative freedom from the very beginning.

I can assist or drop hints, but I can tell you what to do.

Well hope so. As again it’s not my intention to take over but I feel I had to step in to lift our spirits a little.
I did try hint so push you by saying about my wrath’s. Do you really think I am that mean or up my own bum.

No it’s was me saying your good you have creative ideas but to stop worrying and have faith in what you was doing.
I felt you may have been flipping from one idea to the next meaning a creative block can appear. Frustrated that if you only believed in your self I wouldn’t feel so frustrated. Frustrated to see you have skill and great ideas, but worried about things just as I have in the past.

Yet something can start holding either one of us back. Personally DM’s.
Support was needed and so like work for TG08 then more focused support was required for us two livery men to stick together.
TG08 is the route man, that’s his area of expertise and role.

It’s our time to step up. TG08 has done all his hard work.
So we will be working more closely now together. (Us livery men)

Yes it is one of those little life facts that everyone loves to see a real brand. Especially in the Rail Fans eyes.
I think TG08 understands that as do I. So speaking plainly then if you want your work to have more appeal then I definitely back up TG08s recent recommendations.

Goodness me it's not even my birthday But on a serious note, I like the colours you've used so far. The only thing I'm not sure on is the light green front on the APT - E. In saying that though, it does have a nice contrast

I can’t and that’s a fact. I seen TG08 has a large amount of knowledge and skill set.
I have followed him for some time. He is very professional in what he does.

So long story short, I can’t do scenarios. TG08 can. I wanted to make a Great Gathering on TSW5 for those like me that can’t go.
I always say if we want something then we have to work hard for it.
I approached TG08 with this crazy idea and Thankful we’re here today.

Without TG08 folks non of this would be happening, because you seen the benefits in my crazy idea.
Smarter man than ones I have been recently communicating with that’s for sure.

He placed his faith in me and I will never and I mean never forget that. (I mean that TG08).

And now we are here.
No tickets for the Great Gathering, No support from GBRTT or GBRf. Just us to come together as a community to build something if we all want it.

The only answer now is. Who’s gonna be at the event show casing their liveries off?.
From old frights cars, historical references on liveries etc, basically all things considered important for the event.

So then when the Team reaches is end goal, then the end product.
TG08s Great Gathering scenario will give user access to not the real event no, but something we built as a community to all enjoy.

Firstly, I'd like to apologise for my late reply. I didn't realise how long it had been. Right then, time for a review

I love the concept and the livery as a whole. It really flows throughout so you should be proud. For extra detail, I drove this unit with the standard 387. Overall, the livery looks great. Especially now that you filled those gaps up. Keep it up

 

I hope that first reference doesn’t fly over my head in which I fear it has. Duh!. Lol.

And yes the high visibility colours I like the look of so just testing it’s appearance. But seeing these are fictional then can we not be a little more adventurous with what colours to introduce. Again that colour set with BR blue or BR corporate blue with the greys and white then high viz colours blend well when set in certain areas.

It looks odd but also looks modern. Things that do look very different now can set a new trend later.
We see this with the change of design BMW took with their car’s appearance in the early to mid 90s.
Looked odd but didn’t stop other car manufacturers doing the same.

But the boring old yellow is planned lol.

That's a good point actually. Plus, manufacturers are starting to ditch the yellow front now.

 

I believe so, or it’s getting less and less. You see and don’t quote me here but on past reading the use of Yellow was due to the introduction of new stock. Not steam locos, but Diesel and Electric.

This was a concern in the early 50s as more and more modern traction became more common across the nation.
The public was at risk due to how quick or how quiet these new forms of traction where.
Be at the yards or even public bridal ways and level crossings.

This is why the yellow was then introduced. To make the newer trains more visible to rail staff and the public.

Back then people was so used to hearing steam basically. Then we had the big change in the 50s 60s.
Today tho the public or more wise to adhering to public safety policies put in place but owners of rail properties and so are TOCs.

Access is restricted on most of the networks and again people understand the risks of messing on tracks or near high speed trains.
Meaning the use of Yellow is becoming less relevant now, because the idea of using yellow is over 70 years old now.

Is it time for a fresh look a big change like in the 50s?.

Yes that's it I think. I was reading something the other day which mentioned yellow warning panels to raise awareness amongst the public about the danger trains can pose (most likely to reduce trespassing/reduce the death toll from it)

 

Mmmm interesting then as that would be the complete opposite to what manufacturers or even livery studios are pushing.
If that’s the case is our government now stepping in as old or newer public legislation is changing or needed to control what both outside manufacturers of stock are doing and livery studios etc.

For as we both have already established and agree upon in that some TOC liveries are using less yellow, or in a future livery concepts.

Adding to this, would this mean the public is becoming less aware of the dangers posed even after the millions of pounds spent on try to reducing injuries or deaths on the UK networks.

I sound rude but how can it all be rocket science. It ain’t. So for me to hear this is sad. Sad that after 200 years of Rail in Britain then some still don’t get it.

All one needs to know is that a Train is much tougher than a soft body human body. As I said to you in the past that I have seen photos the public would never see. Lots of Bags put it that way.

Hence I DO NOT want to be hit by one. Don’t matter if its Yellow purple or tartan paint used. It will still hurt me and worse.
But joking aside, sadly it’s those that blatantly ignore the law and trespass.
Not only are they putting themselves at risk but the travelling public. Plus people always forget about the Driver.
The consequences of others actions that can ruin not only a person’s career but personal life too.

So with that as market leader lol I will keep the Yellow. I must work with that industry and support public transport legislation to keep the public safe.
(Spoken as role play). But because I make liveries then if public safety is a on going concern I want to help raise awareness then.

So my friend next Project is the safety Train campaign. When should we open that one up?.

Anyway a question to the community.

At the Top with the WCML logo in amongst the lines. I am adding some dates of events for this to be part of the Rail 200 theme.
I feel with some of my work I could be wondering to fair from the core point of why I set this tread up.

To celebrate and pay homage to all things in the past that make rail so special. Historical significance and relevance.

I don’t feel by me simply adding a Rail 200 logo that it’s meeting the core requirements I originally thought when setting out what work to do and what it’s end appearance would be. This can’t be rushed so due to time I ask you the community this.

Are you happy with what I am doing now and what I or we could do to improve our work?.

And with that I shall show you what I mean and if additional information of historical significance will work as I intended.
Be Rail 200 theme and with Avanti IC APT mixed in. That’s four in one design and so am I trying to do to much in one design?.

I'd go with the idea for now, and see what you, we (the team) and the community all think when the livery is completed . Even if you do it on this livery as a one-off, it means you still have at least one livery with historical significance written all over it.

I still don't see branding on the livery (which is odd, judging that the branding is there in the screenshots...)

I've tried un-subscribing and re-subscribing a couple of times already. I've also tried restarting the game as well. I wonder if the livery file in the game hasn't updated properly .

Oh it’s got worse my friend. I will finish this one off and then jump on some major work you need.

So what do I mean by worse well. This may take some time adding historical information. I can try get some like this morning, but it’s a lot for me to take on. It’s just to much information or what would be interesting to add.

I have gone and decided that it needs it. Sorry a bit late on reading your feedback but at least I have read your mind lol.

Here are few pictures firstly.
The last one my change as I was just filling the gap but I do have something lined up.

I am sharing this as if I get some feedback from the community I can speed up this livery and get it out sooner.
I’m looking at few days as it is. (Taking time to DIY).

So I like the look of this lettering effect but not sure if to add this and a date of the original WCML route?.
Then I have this space to toy around with. I will be placing a Avanti logo there actually, but I’d like some writing about the history of the line or locos that ran on it over the many years. Even record attempts.

Here you maybe able to assist TG08 and JPlayz also the Community, you can if you like fill them spaces, it would really really help me.
Help me add a little snippet of historical information so I can make this a little special, and get it out sooner
Please I am asking because I am being honest and finding it hard to understand and take it all in.

Good morning everybody, I'm happy to announce that all of the AI for 'At The Event' is now complete! I just need to add a few bits of static stock at a couple of locations like in 1Z01, and then it is onto post-creation testing (which is where 1Z01 is already!). Changelog has been updated as well .

Morning Lee, Happy Easter.
I've just had a look for when the WCML was opened and I believe it opened on the 17th September 1838 between London and Birmingham. If you want me to do some more research, I can. As it's my local mainline, I'll be more familiar with it. But I'm happy to assist where needed. If you could post a list of things you may wish to include (even if you don't use all of them, you can at least have a selection to choose from), that would be helpful.
