I have noticed for some time that the end lights of some coaches, many but not all, cut off at a certain distance when passing by, or conversely, when you approach them at a certain distance, they 'switch' on. This happens e.g. with the Amfleet coaches and one of the team of the enhancement pack mentioned that this is a TSC bug introduced since the latest core update. A bit of an annoying core update bug I would think.
Does anyone know if (and how) there can be a workaround the rolling stock in question individually, as it happens not on all I noticed.

It's a known issue of the current version, (head)lights are only visible in a short distance.
Some rolling stock comes with different or multiple lights which are visible from the distance, but it's a rarity.

Search for threads here about using an older version of TSC. You don't have to go back too much, previous should do.
It's likely available among Steam discussions as well, or even guides.

(Rolling back has a side advantage of experiencing content designed for a specific version, or nostalgia. The downside is that many little things have been improved and while you'll have better sounds or headlights, you may end up with blander colours.)

Sometimes you can go into the .bin file and change the fading distance setting.

Ok thanks, so far I haven't found the right .bin file to look but thanks.
The big unknown is whether TSC will still have one or more updates from DTG (without breaking something else).

I really hope DTG officially fixes the core to TSC. While I enjoyed v75.8a which is the latest stable core without the headlight flare issue, it becomes annoying having to manually move content files and asset files between installs if I get a new DLC to backdate it to the older core. I tried using 7 zip but also can't find which bin file to modify the headlight flare distance. I just really want the headlight flares to properly work without having to backdate or modify the simulator

If it is North American tell me what rolling stock you are using.

I haven't extensively tested all my rolling stock, but for North American stock it is the case with the ones I used on the NEC route:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2202020/Train_Simulator_E60_Electric_Locomotive_AddOn/ with enhancement (and probably without enhancement as well), so all Amfleet coaches
    https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/mods/c1-train-sim-classic/c77-enhancement-packs/i3499-amfleet-i-enhancement-pack
    https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...c87-models/i1529-amtrak-viewliner-ii-baggages
The (NJT) multilevel coach which comes with the Jersey line I use as well doesn't have this problem.
