Hi there Dovetail I would like to know when the new Livery designer is coming to the game as I have some really interesting ideas to help make the tool easier. Allow to have a gradient paint effect have metal paint textures .e.g gold, Titanium, Steel etc allow import of custom images such as Suns etc ability to halve shapes ability to allow to write text on trains instead of Selecting letters Ability to add shadows If any one else has some suggestions to add on this please do
I hope for At least 100 extra layers (400 total) A circular gradient shape that is centred on a single point The ability to rotate shapes by exact increments (input an angle 0-360 degrees) Gradients that don’t lose quality when in game The ability to restrict liveries from randomly appearing in service mode. If I make a Transpennine Express livery for the class 395, I don’t want it to show up randomly in south east England More locos in livery designer. Progress on upgrading locos for livery designer seems to have slowed recently. A fair few were releasing but it seems to have stopped being worked on
My biggest wish is to have full consist instead of locos/individual wagons for them selves, especially on passenger services Liveries on wagons could be “picked” in scenario planer, but in timetable mode, i should be able to select for an example, an BR 146 woth dostos. When selecting the loco livery it will also spawn the livery on the wagons, that goes with it because i painted it like a multiple unit. This will also make it easier to get each wagon type (cab car, normal car, 1st class) to have lines an paint that matches up with each other and the locomotive.
My wishes are: Ability to control how often that livery spawns in ai Ability to change the livery of your whole consist Being able to choose the number displayed in the cab eg 377422 on the outside and in the cab and also the train with that number in game is guaranteed to be using that livery you created using its number.
...the import of custom images is not allowed, because of Copyright protected material that can cause licensing issues. "Sam" once said, that even a picture from "Princess Leia" would cause legal problems and to avoid such situations, there is no option for this. But to give some hope, it is intended to provide permitted logos from railway operators in the future and with the mastery rewards, more and more usefull decals are brought into the game.
so I dont know if this has been suggested anywhere, probably by me somewhere at some point, but lets put it together (with simple "titles at the end of each point) 1. Ability to transfer a complete livery to different versions of the same loco/unit/train - oftentimes, the outside model would be the same - LIVERY TRANSFER 2. Ability to transfer a complete livery to a different loco of the same / similar shape - lets say BR 185/146.2 or BR112/114/143 have roughly the same shape of the outside shell... adjustments could still be made, which should be easier than doing a new livery from scratch 3. Ability to save and transfer complex shapes (aka custom, pretty much handmade decals) - there might be a decal or more, like a flag, symbol, or even a drawing that you did, took a lot of time and layers... and you might want to use it across multiple liveries... atm you have to do it all over again, and unless it is sth very simple, it is time consuming and tedious - SAVE LAYER AS... 4. A simpler way to select multiple layers to group - grouping and regrouping of many layers to create complex shapes is super tedious atm 5. A tool that would let you select multiple layers, so that you could like... move them together at once, change their color (right now changing color across many layers is super tedious as you have to go into each one and change the color - which happens to me a lot, since I sometimes use different colors when creating complex shapes for visibility and once I nail the overall shape I then change colors to final ones) and such 6. Snap to object/line etc tool - right now aligning shapes to fit certain lines etc is a major tedium, even with the help of a controller (which I have recently found out is very useful for some fine-tuning as sticks and triggers are pressure-sensitive) - SNAP TO 7. Ability to temporarily add a coach/loco to the editing so you can align certain shapes better 8. Keep the zoom etc as it is when jumping between shapes, for exhaust's sake 9. Also, as an extension of point 6 - if not a snap function, maybe a tool that would project some kind of grid so you can e.g. align shapes across carriages in DMU/EMUs 10. Ability to save colors, maybe also let us name them... lets say recently I have been doing some Ukraine-themed liveries, so for me it would be useful if I didnt have to look for the blue and yellow every single time - SAVE COLOR AS... 11. Better highlight function - right now it is sometimes very hard to know which layer you have selected, especially if you have many simple shapes before or after grouping/regrouping, and when you want to know, you have to select it and wait a couple seconds before it FLASHES and if you blink you miss it ... maybe it would be handy if the highlight was longer or maybe if you could opt to have some kind of outline as highlight 12. Simple create line / curve / custom simple shape - maybe even a very simple brush akin to sth like you got on imgflip.com (also with a simple fill with color function?)... simply because atm creating complex shapes from simple ones is just so much more tedious than it really needs to be and to create some complex shapes you sometimes end up with tens of small layers before you get what you want 13. Faster dragging of shapes - now if you want to get a simple shape across a longer carriage, it is a major pain Ok lets end it here for now... look, I dont ask for the livery editor to turn into a Photoshop/Illustrator/CorelDraw killer, but hell, sometimes creating and working with liveries is so much harder than it really needs to be Edit: as you can probably tell, I have now spent quite a lot of time in the editor and getting better at it, so these are mostly the result of those hours ... many of these features would save me quite a bit of time better spent like... playing the game itself, y know?
Wow I’ll need an to have a brew and look over this one day. A lot there. I’ll see if I can make the list shorter for ya Rigsby. ✌
