Glad that Liam confirmed he is still at DTG as well as being third party, makes sense when he's done so much "in his spare time" as now he can monetise that extra work.

I'm going to be incredibly optimistic about the GWR licence and hope it leads to the bi-modal class 800 or 802 being sound recorded and introduced onto the GWE and maybe even a new GWR route.

GWE remaster progressing along and looking beautiful - noice.

GWR licence has been reacquired which is awesome, and not something you'd do for a single remaster of an existing route - the possibilities.

MCA has been changed to be a 9th gen/PC only route, along with the S-bahn. And with 4 different gameplay add ons' already as non 8th gen, I think the way TSW will be released has changed.

I feel like the game TSW will release a free or stupid cheap core version and then players can a-la-carte the included DLC - with the three tiers no longer offered as an 8th gen version. This allows them to keep current 8th gen and allow new 8th gen players to still come aboard but not worry about sliming down the new routes with the existing catalogue there's plenty for them to play.

On the subject of a GWR route however, perhaps they can do Paddington to somewhere off of the Airport Junction portal or Reading to somewhere further down line (route hop at reading to GWE)

It's not as simple as that. Performance issues can't be solved in 1 time

Could this allow them to add a lot more GWR stock into Cardiff when the new timetable with JTs 142 releases.
Maybe even see the 80x family appear in correct green livery now.
Maybe even see the correct logos on the stock in the GWE remaster.

Talking about Cardiff, why not approach the community and see if they’ll allow their reskin creations to be used, as we now have a XC 170 in the game with the modded Cross City line, so would be nice to see it appear at Cardiff working the services they do in real life.

I know extensions aren’t a thing but the Cardiff Network could be a springboard to build the South Wales Main Line off it. Newport to Swansea would give both the TfW and GWR stock a reasonable route to stretch their legs on.

TSW6 will most likely release in september. They also said the deep dive article will be shared "soon" and the route has been in the 0-3 months category for 2 months now. Its not gonna be the standard route in TSW6 that's just ridiculous. The only reason san bernadino got announced that early was because of the LIRR delay

And that's why it's in 0-3 months? Come on.

OK, honest question. It has been 4,5 half years since the start of this generation. To put this into context - 4,5 half years into PlayStation 2 lifecycle the PS3 announcement was 8 months away. For the Original Xbox, 4,5 half years after its launch the 360 was already out for half a year. What is your plan to upgrade from your 12-year old (as of 2025) hardware? At this point it is clear even the current generation hardware struggles with the new additions to the game. Expecting the devs to cut quality to TSW2 levels to simply cater to a hardware over a decade old is unreasonable. I, for one, am looking forward to Gen10 hardware, to limit the issues I see the game plagued with performance-wise, yet you are disappointed that Gen8 won't be supported.

The only patch that they announced, and delivered was to fix some issues with the Class 150/153. They have never acknowledged any issues with the scenery that the Tea Lady at Rivet Games finished for them.

It was always going to be the Northern 323 - since it was announced. With the appropriate AI layers.

im honestly waiting to see if Mr Alan "we can make a better TSW route than those guys" Thompson comes through on this route - being 9th gen/PC only may bode well

I’m usually really excited for roadmaps. This one was a bit dissapointing. Nothing new really aside from the unnannounced uk Gameplay Pack. GWR liscence does excite me. Maybe a new route, core roue for TSW6? Or maybe it wss just for the remaster. Im looking forward to it either way because It’s not enjoyable to play GWE right now in its current state.

I do feel sorry for DTG. On one hand, people complain that DLCs are released too early and with problems. Then, on the other hand, they complain when DLCs are taking a long time. It’s like a Lose/Lose situation. I am happy that they aren’t rushing out content. It’s not as easy as pressing a button to fix bugs, blurry textures e.t.c. As Matt was talking about in the stream. They are working on it. It can take a while to diagnose technical problems AND fix them.

I am also really excited for Frankfurt S-Bahn. Looks like a great route. I just hope it doesn’t crash often. Americans aren’t really getting anything much, not that it interests me that much but maybe thats why they hold back on American conten.t

Overall, boring roadmap but nice to hear they are trying to fix problems and that these nice looking DLC’s are coming.

I think it actually isn't too bad a roadmap in terms of things to look forward to. JTs 86 and Mk2s is a standout for me, and you can't sniff at the GWE remaster - thats for free right?!

Why is no one asking about the UK gameplay pack?? Interesting it was there but not talked about...

Well now I am really confused. I was happy to go along with the idea it could be the HST pack, but it all sounds a bit cryptic.

I am flicking between the article and this forum to work it all out. Thanks for your help!!

After reading the roadmap article is it still worth watching replay of the live stream, or is all what's been said there already in the article?

Matt does go into more detail on the performance issues, and what they are doing to try and fix them. Still seems to be a lot of unknowns about performance issues though.

What worries me more than dropping Gen8 (and I write that as a Gen8 owner myself) is the distinction between PC and Gen9 consoles.

Look, it's simply unreasonable of them not to make TSW6 run on my Nokia 3310.

As a primarily PC player that's my concern if, rather than fixing optimisation and code performance, they simply jack the specs up above my current potato. It could happen - look at the specs for MSFS 2020 vs MSFS 2024, or the new Saber Roadcraft vs Snowrunner.

I'd be interested to know if anyone can run TSW5 on DTG's minimum specs, which include a GTX 750 ti, a card I haven't owned since 2015. And 8GB of ram? Is TSW optimized sufficiently for those specs?

We did find out that the UK Gameplay pack does NOT refer to Grump Dog Games’ (DTG Liam) HST Pack.other than that , just performance issues

My RAM is 16GB, as such more than enough but I only run a 4GB RTX 3050ti Laptop GPU and it works well at 60 FPS. Only around Frankfurt and Mannheim on FTF and MKN as well as the Mittenwaldbahn I regularly have between 30 and 40 FPS (still ok by my standards but not great)

Will the tfw pacer have 1 local door opens when you press local open the other 1 opens when you press door release? And will it have the door closing alarm

For example, the PS5 Pro certainly has solid performance, but TSW is not optimized for it anyway, and practically all the more exposed places or routes on it have problems. The fault is clearly somewhere other than our hardware.

It's pretty clear that DTG have neither the technical ability / teams or capacity to properly optimise the game for each individual platform. PC, XBOX and PS5 (plus PS5 Pro) should all have their own tweaked optimised version of the game. The fact people can mod the ini files and release mods that significantly improve the performance and lighting shows that DTG can't or don't know how to properly optimise UE4 either.

Anyway, back to the roadmap. JT Class 86 release article next week, so releasing probably in 2 weeks time?

You absolutely can't run it with 8GB: Windows plus TSW5 with nothing else running use at least 10 and more usually 12

In the last roadmap (or maybe it was the CCN Preview) Matt said they had a trip planned to record new sounds for a Class 150.. perhaps that could be a clue to the UK gameplay pack?

If not, then I’ll guess it’s something from the community / PC Editor talents!

Not a lot of DTGs own projects on the roadmap. DTG has a large team, they gotta be working on more than they're letting us know. So, when could we expect the next reveal of what DTGs actually up to?

Last year, TSW5 was announced officially mid-August and released mid-September.
If they're secretly working on something big for this September, be it TSW6 or something else, I'd expect it to be revealed no earlier than August.
For DTG it's a lose-lose-situation anyway: If they're working on something and reveal it very early, the community will work itself up to astronomically high expectations which can't possibly be met. If they reveal it just a couple of weeks short of the release, everyone goes "Why all the secrecy, why so sudden?? Something must be wrong with it". I'd rather not be in their shoes...

Matt said they would like to arrange a class 150 recording session, but no TOCs had been forthcoming in allowing it. TfW did not allow any train access, the Class 153 sounds came from a Scotrail train. I doubt they will revisit it now, in true DTG style.

The UK gameplay pack will probably be something disappointing like their National Power wagons pack.

DTG continues to ignore questions about the implementation of the suspension function in old rolling stock. Questions about Rivet's plans to support its released DLС also remain unanswered.

This time of the year there is never going to be much new stuff shown or announced as DTG are probably fully focused on the next iteration of TSW….happens every year..there’s a pattern.

The next generation of TSW, enjoy all new graphical glitches, broken timetables, promised bugfixes and functionality from TSW5, and new functionality like flushing toilets*.

*toilets unavailable on Norfolk Southern rolling stock, for the authentic experience park your train at a crossing and walk to the gas station by the road to use theirs

I'm just hoping whichever core route Rivet is building has a very simplistic timetable in real life as they couldn't even cope with putting all the services onto Fife Circle, let alone West Coast Mainline South.
