Matt said on the roadstream there are no plans to go back and improve old trains unless it makes sense as part of a new route that uses the trains.

Uncle Matt is back in his repertoire - if it doesn't matter to him, then it doesn't matter to the rest of the players either *hatfu*

“Next generation?”….thats why I clearly said ’iteration’. The next generation of TSW will probably come when/if they go to UE5 otherwise we’ll only get a yearly iteration with all of its problems/glitches and bugs.

In an ideal world they wouldn't be building any!

They spoke about this several times in the stream. Unless stated otherwise, new features will not be implemented on old rolling stock / routes.

I'm glad the JT 86/2 is still on the list, I was a bit worried as previously the development blog was updated around the 3rd-6th of the month and hasn't been updated since the 3rd March. I'm looking forward to both the 86/2 and the mk1 RMB oddly enough!

I specifically picked the wording to go with the rest of the sarcasm.

I think after the uproar that San Bernardino ended up being a core route they were not going to let us know anything about the core routes this year.

Although my joy has been somewhat diminished by the announcement that the new S-Bahn route will only have a reduced timetable on console (Seriously? What is going on with the core?), I still think the roadmap is cool. Great to finally get some updates on the Manchester Airport route… not really because I‘m interested in that one (short, no new loco, familiar area), but because I‘d like to see them tackle bigger projects afterwards.
The GWR license is super big… especially because I read about it while sitting in an actual GWR train on the way to Paddington! I‘ve always hated the unlicensed trains in the game (except for those who were added to enhance the AI and scenery, such as on the Mildmay line and the upcoming GWE remaster). This will open up many opportunities for new and existing routes and will make the remaster truly great.

Are they just managing to expectations?

Say that the route is coming with certain layers (which will work fairly well), and then add extra layers later on when it’s found that the DLC works well with those services as well.

It could be that the ICE services won’t work so well once the 420 is added in on consoles, so they have done this ready for the 420s release, so that purchasers of that DLC don’t get crashes.

This could be, quite possibly, the greatest video game ever made.

The 13:20 Railspike to London Paddington had been cancelled. A rail replacement bumblebee has been organised and is located at stand 7.

Indeed. I have got hardly more (V)RAM available than a 9th gen console and the game is working just fine so there has to be a specific issue only appearing in the console builds of the game (I don‘t even have the blurry textures that get called out every all the time)

The key is how the different systems handle being out of memory, on PC if the memory leak causes you to run out of RAM then the PC just dumps the extra data onto the SDD/HDD, this makes memory access slower, but if you have a fast enough machine to compensate you won't notice.

A console won't allow that, so if it exceeds the available RAM (consoles are effectively shared VRAM, 16GB of GDDR6) then it either downgrades all the textures to free up memory, or just crashes the game.

While it looks like a console only problem on the surface, it's actually a problem affecting everyone, PCs being very open spec are designed to cope with poorly optimised code, the game will run slower, but it won't crash. Consoles being fixed spec, demand your game is optimised to work within that spec.

Is 32 GB enough for a Gaming PC without Memory Leaks?

That's what I have and personally I consider it to be the minimum amount of RAM needed for gaming with high settings. When I replace my current machine next year, I will go for at least 64GB, maybe more for future proofing.

I wish I'd gone for 32gb rather than 16gb, but money was a little tight at the time. I'm think I'll go for 64gb at minimum next time, though.

I don't think I've had a system with less than 32 in a decade now. Never had trouble with it though.

Maybe I pick 48 GB RAM, I don’t work on PC or Streaming
It make no sense to play on Xbox Series X with all the issues, but all my DLCs are gone on Steam then

As a general rule of thumb, when I am doing day to day stuff like playing two games side by side on my primary and secondary monitor, memory usage generally doesn't go higher than 20. Utilising more tends to require me running actual crunchy stuff.

I am a fan of cities skylines though and when you have a tonne of assets crp mods it does eat crazy amounts of ram when loading in, you can kinda cheese it by increasing pagefile but that only goes so far. Using more asset mods (I already use 4000 or so) would probably cause me to upgrade to 64GB however a unique quirk of my MOBO is that if you use 4 slots instead of 2, it slows the ram down. So I would have to dump both sticks of 16GB (£130 eep) and buy 2 sticks of 32GB and I don't even wanna look how much that would cost. (edit: I just looked £187 on offer eeeep) I would probably choose to upgrade to a 9070xt before touching ram.

For train sim world 32gb is good enough the main thing with TSW is graphics and second is processing power.

I'd definitely recommend a 16-core CPU before upgrading RAM from 32 to 64GB

Why Not choose 48 GB for Playing Games only?

Exactly my own experience. 32GB do the job well, my main bottleneck while playing TSW usually is the GPU, not the RAM.
Lots of acronyms for such a short sentence

DTG Jamie Can you please advise? I wanted to follow up as I was told 1 week ago by Matt to tag you in the forums so you can provide input on the status of TSC. Please let me know if there are plans to continue developing the core of TSC or is TSC stuck at v77.6 for now?
