Shame there isn't more freight. Also although JTs routes are good if looking for accurate haulage 47/4s certainly didn't haul all the freight. 47/0s, 25s and 37/0s are sorely missing. As for wagons yes practically zero Air braked Speedlink stock. No VDAs or OBAs. No Cargowaggons or VGAs No OTAs either. HEAs and PCAs are about it. Also HAAs probably the single most numerous wagon type (and derivatives) are not featured.

    Reason?

    BR doesn't sell.

BR sells fine. Half-assed, badly-conceived routes definitely don’t sell. ;)

Exactly. Good BR content is amongst my most played content and I’m not even british.

I believe the second portion with the 37’s from Penzance departed something like 150’ late with just one of the locos powering. That must have been worth heading over the Cornish hills. Think they might have hired in a Duff to top it at some point en route.

Sounds about right, yeah. I knew something went wrong near Penzance. Interesting. Well hopefully it was still an enjoyable day all round onboard.

There has been no news for exactly 2 months, it looks like the 86th will be in TSW6

Personally I doubt it as we've seen nearly everything bar Oldvern's Mk1 RMB if we were getting this in TSW6 we would barely know anything about the dlc so far. Plus I have a weird feeling JT's TFW 142 will be an August release for some reason as we barely know anything about it and it seems a bit weird for them to release a modernish version of a pacer set roughly a couple of years after it was withdrawn so potentially JT might be making their own Arriva Wales route that the routeless 142 can layer onto.

Possibly but JT normally put out their development updates on the same day as the roadmap so we could be expecting on this week (possibly). Last months update was about the Welsh 142.

We had the Welsh 142 announced last month so that probably took the slot for postings.

When is Cardiff Commuter supposed to be set anyway? People more in the know of that area have said things don't add up.

CCC is set in late 2023. At that point, Pacers were already gone (mid-2020)! So, I assume that JT actually spoiled us their future route stock! Let's hope... Love seeing 142 in its final days, maybe a future 143 too...

Didn't they say the Welsh Pacer comes with a new, slightly back-dated timetable?

I personally doubt that JT would've announced it if it was a hint in some form to their future route projects

Just read JT's development page for the 142 and it's set in 2019, so there might be Arriva liveried 150s, and 153's for their 24 custom timetable as looking at old footage in 2019 barely any of the 150s and 153s were in tfw colours.

Picked up this snippet in today's update notes...
"Fixed formations to include Class 87, Mk2Fs and Mk1 RMB."
Hopefully means release is not far off.

In case you missed it, this line was in last week's roadmap, so we'll find out in the next few days.

"You can expect lots more information coming for the Class 86/2 with a full announce article landing next week."

Personally hoping to use this for the 100mph part of the masteries this month.

I’m hoping there’s an article tomorrow or Wednesday and in terms of a release, considering SBRM is coming next Tuesday I’d expect the 86 to be early June at the latest

So this evening I fired up WCMLOS and started at Carlisle and saw the stock that forms the overnight Euston-Stranraer service.

It's a mixture of mark 2s and mark 3s, so yeah it's definitely ready for the 86/2 and Mark 2 DLC.

With the very recent update to the 87s which bundled a few more Intercity livery variations, I wonder if it is possible JT are exploring bundling in a few extra livery variations (and maybe some model variations)? Would be very cool if so.

Very much looking forward to the release.

Really hope it is late May. I have enough in my Steam Wallet to cover this and the E94 add on for LFR which is also a must have, so the sooner the better for both really.

£19.99 for a huge variety of liveries, coaching stock and services?

    Bargain.

Day one purchase for me. It'll be worth the wait.

It looks great but the one thing I will say is hopefully we get a weathered version of the class 86/2 in both inter city and br blue in a post release update

To complete Tier 2 of the Mastery, I need to complete 2 Scenairos with level 3 difficulty of higher, will any of the class 86/2 meet this requirment?

Oh yes still Day One and I don't begrudge the money on this one. But we are still seeing an inexorable shift on pricing levels.

Sadly that's just the world we live in now.

There are a few European DLCs I'd love to purchase but the expense I can't justify unless it's on sale.

    Looks Hellfire.

£20 makes it the most expensive non-expert loco but considering it's a JT product and there's multiple liveries included I have no objections.

I am curious to hear the sounds and if it just reuses the 87 soundset

If they use the AP sounds (which they probably will) the 86 will sounds pretty much the same as the 87

25 Euros for a non-expert loco that is (for all but the most knowledgeable players) very similar to an existing loco and just substitutes into a single timetable is wild. We used to get good locos with multiple entirely new wagons for half the price (e.g. original DB BR 101 loco add-on). I don’t like this trend of exploding prices.

Guessing that there will be some gameplay coming in on WCMLoS, as the change notes for latest patch says that the 87 services are revised to include the Mk2Fs and the Mk1 RMBs in their consists.

Hopefully the 86 will bring additional services rather than just substituting in for 47s and 87s.

Looks good, shame no extra services although hopefully this means duplicates 87s are a thing of the past. Two Britannias at Carlisle last night for me. Interesting comments in the article about 87s on freight. They did do containers and metals trains but Speedlink style trains were often more in the hands of 81s or 85s.

Of course, it looks bombastic, but 20 euros? In rubles, will it be about 800-1000 rubles? Somehow it costs a lot...

My only slight observation about the RMB is whether the style is a bit muddled with the eras. Externally we have Commonwealth bogies and superb looking too, for 100 MPH running. The interior looks to have the more modern melamine (plastic) wall panelling and partitions but the lighting is tungsten rather than fluorescent and the original seats with the larger wings. Of course the upside of that, is they can slot in more readily to older routes in (say) a maroon reskin on SoS and PFR.

And I prefer the older style anyway so just being pedantic I guess!

I would like to hope that our Class 86 and Class 87 locomotives fit under the expert range in some sense with the features they come packed with, even if they don't come with a fancy computer :D

Yeah timetable wise no new services, the Class 86/2 will be a heavy relief to the overstretched Class 87 which worked everything on the launch of the WCML Preston Carlisle.

Of course you will have some new scenarios to play with too.
But the timetable variety becomes much greater with the new pack.

I can pass the feedback onto the team Vern :)

    Cheers, Tom

Appreciate that Tom, as I said probably just being pedantic.

Oh and possibly one (two) items missing from the buffet inventory - the famous Mr Kipling Apple or Fruit (berry) pies. Staple breakfast on the 0615 from Inverness to Wick/Thurso was the pork pie, the apple pie and MaxPax tea. Funnily enough, the same menu applied returning south on the 1745 ex Wick. Though sustenance in between was catered for by a hearty portion of fish and chips in Wick!

Oooh just pondering, I know the 86 will replace the 87 on the cross country services which makes sense, but are there any plans for the two locos to swap around the services?

    So basically

If I spawned in at Carlisle wanting to travel on a London service, is there a possibility an 86 will spawn on the service? And also if I want to travel on a Cross Country service, is there a possibility an 87 will spawn?

Or is that not possible due to the timings?

One of the things I love about North Transpennine is that any passenger service can produce a 47 or 45 or 40, it's random and fun.

I remember many many moons ago my dad telling me he'd purchased a Pork Pie on a Perth-Edinburgh service, troffed it...and spent the majority of a service from Edinburgh to Peterborough in the loo as the Pork Pie had "disagreed" with him lol.

I get why some people want the 86... but I just don't see a point if I have the 87. They're not (to me) that much different.
If anything it's the diesel freight lacking on the line, not a similar loco to the one we have.
Shunting to me doesn't equate to full "freight."
It's the equivalent of driving your truck around the parking lot and saying you went on a "truck delivery."
I'd even spring for a new timetable and/or scenarios for especially diesel powered freight (25, 37, 47, etc) on the route for proper freight runs. The cost would depend on how many services you get, but if it's something that I could play regularly and had a few dozen (especially daytime) runs I'd pay $10-15 for it. I WANT to love the route. It's amazingly made, but it just kinda feels empty that it's effectively all passenger stock on the line itself. The WCML is a backbone logistics artery for the UK.

Could even bundle it with an extension to the Morecambe or Windmere branches to make it more palatable for people and justify a higher cost if you want.

I noticed I'm derailing this thread unintentionally, so I'm gonna move this discussion to a new thread. This should really be for 86 lovers.
