.. what would it be, and why NTP? Seriously though, what would you want out of an NTP upgrade? Come on DTG, it's a glorious route, throw us a frickin' bone.
Scenery patched up, particularly in the pennines, make use of the 150, 142 and 104 (if it ever sees the light of day, and if appropriate) and just generally make the route as busy as was realistic, that'll do nicely. I stand by HRR for the same reasons, although the missing potential for it's timetable is much greater than NTP, I'd argue.
London commuter - 700s etc. Birmingham Cross City - busier timetable, with use of stock now in game. Perhaps through a collab with the devs that released the third party timetable for PCs recently
Gota say its going to have to be NTP for me too, good length of route, challenging to run freight along, but the timetable needs major love and also the scenery does not stack up well t modern routes, hopefully the class 40, 45 will get some love to, i still get the same bug of having the the class 40s left side engine room lights permanently switched on (burning brighter than the noon day sun) i live in hope that one day NTP will get the polish it deserves
Simple really. It's a lovely route IRL but it's showing it's age in TSW. The distant mountains of the pennies/moors look truly terrible, TSW has come a long way since then Lighting! In NTP night lighting is non existent, Leeds, Hudds & Manchester (including the depots) are pitch black at night! Timetable mode: Look how far we've come, there's no reason why we can't see some BR IC125's going through Leeds now and have many other AI services Wet/Snow on platforms We now have air braked Mk1's, soon to be MK2f's that can be included Just a few reasons, I'm sure others will have plenty more I'd love an extension of this route too. A short extension to Healey Mills whilst on the mainline either to York or Liverpool
For me, West Cornwall needs a complete overhaul to at least make it somewhat realistic (particularly the St Ives branch which IRL is one of the most beautiful in the country). Unlikely, given the company that developed it but they managed to give IOW a pretty good update so it’s not beyond the realms of possibility. I would even be willing to pay for it if, say, a Valenta HST is included or if it is brought up to date with an IET..
I'd go for Peninsula Corridor, with its busy timetable, service pattern variation, presence of freight and switching operations, and new stock IRL with the electrification of Caltrain's network. Even with its age in terms of scenery and features, it's still the most played route I own. Specifically, if they remastered it, I'd have loved to see transition era operations, so both EMD and MPI diesels as well as the Stadler units would be featured together. Though with DTG losing the Caltrain license, I know this is a pipe dream.
It's a VERY difficult one for me... It'd be a close head to head between London to Brighton or Northern Trans Pennine. But, I think London to Brighton wins in this case. It is decent end to end and full route, with good commuter traffic, Gatwick Express runs, the potential for Thameslink services. Clapham Junction could be populated with 350s reskinned as 450s, and 378s on the WLL as AI. Just imagine it brought upto TOD4 and TSW5 standards? It is my favourite route overall in the game, but it really is begining to show it's age now unfortunately. Sadly I can't see it receiving any remaster treatment in the near future though.
Unfortunately, that won't happen anytime soon. DTG recently lost its CalTrain license. I wouldn't say no to bringing the Route up to today's standards, including electrification and the EMU that runs there today.
UK - well it’s really got to be NTP. Those tunnels and bridges desperately need reverb. Germany/Europe - harder to say because many of the routes were built to a high standard anyway. Ironically the one that needs reverb is SKW with all those tunnels! But not a popular option so maybe RRO, sort out those extreme gradient changes. USA/Canada - start with the oldest, SPG.
Yes I'll go along with NTP as well. I'd go so far as to say that the route could carry being the main route for TSW6 or 7 due to its potential to run such a variety of stock. As previously mentioned the route length is great, it has large terminals at either end and the scenery could be spectacular. Add a CL25 and the CL104 and I'd pay quite a lot of money for it. (Add a Trans-Pennine DMU and you could double that figure). Then, in a few years time when it is electrified etc, produce a modern version and, assuming I've still alive then, I'd pay for it all over again
BCC actually needs finishing, let alone remastering, especially the canal side section beyond Five Ways. But yes another route that could do with bridge and tunnel reverb.
I would choose NTP and give it the SEHS treatment and extend it so it is also the whole Calder Valley line (ik it's long) as the amount of services on the preexisting route will double with the amount of freight trains that ran on the line especially at Heaton lodge junction.
Probably best to keep extensions out of this as beyond the scope of what a remaster normally entails.
Main Spessart Bahn, one of the first and the route that is currently going through digital rot. Ruhr Sieg Nord, a route that truly conveys the gritty ruhr Valley feeling.
NTP and TVL could greatly benefit from remasters. There's a lot more rolling stock now so the timetable could be padded out. TVL has aged fairly well, it still looks OK. NTP on the other hand desperately needs updating.
Also NTP for me. Keep the 40,45 and 47 but add the 31, BR blue 37 and 20. The JT 101 and 142 as well (ok it's a couple of years before they came into use but it's not much of a stretch). As for new rolling stock? The 25 or 56...or both. As for carriages, the Mark 1, mark2 and JT mark 3 as well, plus the various freight wagons. I'd add wagons to the yards and sidings as well and add AI traffic at Leeds, Huddersfield and Manchester Victoria.
I think there are several routes in people's heads they would like to have remastered, but then there is the routes that badly need to be remasted to bring them up to a modern level. NTP is definately one that needs to be remastered.
Fife Circle ! In the hands of Just Trains undoing all the LOVE work that Rivet done on it - and have seemingly since abandoned. Perhaps I'm biased as it's my local route, but with some of the scenery it really did have the potential to be one of the game's best. As it was it - in my opinion of course - it didn't come anywhere near to living up to its potential. That said I do love NTP as well, so would be good to see that with a fresh lick of paint. Edited to add - I absolutely know there is 0% chance of any of the above happening !
I'm definitely picking NTP, maybe we could even have a slightly later timetable to make the most of JTs content. Either way, I would love to see a properly fleshed out timetable for the route, and really make it stand out again, by far my favourite route until JT came along.
Add my vote for NTP too. Loads more stock can now be added, especially if you add a few years to the timetable date.
I will gladly take any route released before TSW3 (biased to UK stuff only though). Anything after that feels too recent, regardless of the quality. All could do with an update (not counting the likes of WSR or GWE which have already been given this treatment).
I recently done my conductor missions on Fife, never played it before. It seems to be a TSW2 launch, the landscape detail is very poor, the train is nice, but doing conductor you end up with your head through the roof of the train or I can climb up on the seats and my head ends up in the overhead bin. Needs a bit of love for sure.
It says something when Skyhook have had to fix both Glasgow-Edinburgh and Fife Circle.... though that was is still being worked on.
WCL remastered and resold with an extension to Plymouth and Laira. Add a Valenta, some TTA wagons and redo the timetable completely, using JT 47s and Mk2fs. Or alternatively. A 2020s route upgrade. With a GWR 800 802 and HST castle power door variation. Skyhook could come in later with a GWR 158.
Really enjoy FCL myself but refuse to play it until the Skyhook timetable releases. Doubt it’ll be playtested enough until after TSW6 launches though.
Both NTP and TVL should get a remasters next. Bring them more in line with the two JT routes. TVL could have a remaster in the style of WSR with a new timetable that makes use of the Pacer, seeing as it has announcements setup for TVL. As for NTP, I'd actually go further and give it the LIRR 2.0 treatment. Remaster it, extend it and throw in a new BR locomotive, such as a BR Class 56. WCL could be an interesting one. Though it would have to be someone other than Rivet remastering it. In order to improve BML, you'd need to do more than remaster it. Remake the route from the ground up in an earlier time period, get rid of the Electrostars and replace them with good ol' BR slam door stock
Any route? Peninsula Corridor, no question. Would be great to see that updated. Honestly, if I was DTG I'd be pushing the marketing benefits of showing off their electrification successes to Caltrain. I'd also consider a modern Transpennine route, and not just because of my personal familiarity with it, or to finally escape the ginger 'fro posse that make up 99% of passengers on the routes in that period, but also if only to add the TPE rolling stock to a future York-Newcastle or Newcastle-Edinburgh ECML extension
Oh, I know it's very much not going to happen but it would still make for a nice improvement to the route. Fantasy or not
London Commuter for me. Add the 700s (plus 378s as AI at Clapham Junction) and maybe update the Battersea area to bring it up-to-date. Could even use the 350s as substitute AI for 450s…just an SWR repaint, like the Elizabeth Line/GA stock at Stratford.
Fully agree, a 56 would be a great locomotive to include. Would NRN be online in the NTP region when the route was set? Would be nice to introduce NRN into the game for older route, not necessary though. Would be nice to get both the UK and Romanian variant. Colas are retiring their 56s I hear, how many are left running now?
NTP would be high on my list, some of the improvements can be found here https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/northern-transpennine-remaster-masterlist.84407/. I actually have multiple open threads for remaster masterlists covering various older UK routes. Feel free to read them and contribute anything I missed out. Hopefully these lists will be given consideration if the routes ever get remastered.
I would like Harlem Line to be remastered. The route also should go further north to atleast Southeast
WCL since it seems to be in the worst shape of all the routes that mean something to me. You’ve got all the boxes ticks with this route when it comes to Steam, Freight and commuter. It’s a nice length too. Give this the extension treatment and a fresh coat of paint, and you’re looking at one of the best UK routes in the game. Don’t let Rivet handle this task though!
Clinchfield would have topped my list, but I didn't bring it up since for a start, I am absolutely satisfied with it as is, if it could just have the bugs fixed, and as I recall that's something unofficially semi-officially kinda in the works as being overhauled as a personal passion project with an ETA of "Lol, don't ever expect a formal ETA on this", no?
There are a couple of things that need doing, besides lighting and bugs: whistle posts, yard lights, and pathing which currently routes through trains up the sidings just because it's "right-hand", causing unnecessary slowdowns to 15 mph.
