So I’m finally switching to the PC version. Unfortunately, since I was on PS, I cannot carry over my route library. Now, I do not expect nor intend to rebuild my entire collection all at once, maybe not ever. But I’d like to eventually get the routes I like, routes I need for desired layers, etc. Currently, I’m on the gamepass version since I have a free 1 month trial, but I may or may not stay with gamepass. Anyway, I have some questions about rebuilding my library, as well as a couple of others related to the PC version: What platform seems to get the most sales (gamepass/steam/epic/etc? Interested to hear which of these platforms you prefer for TSW When do sales typically occur? Does the PC version support trackIR? What are some of your must-have mods and where’s the best place to look for mods? Thank you, I really appreciate any answers and/or any additional tips!
I would say Steam is the best sales platform. You can redownload your content at any time, no limits on how often. There are regular sales, with a minimal the four seasonal sales, usually Xmas/New Year, March, early summer end of June and late Autumn. DTG also tend to hit up the Steam platform with at least a couple of in house sales each year. You can buy Steam Wallet gift cards at various locations if you have a bit of spare cash and save up in advance especially around the annual update to the next version or if a few DLC’s are releasing at once.
Thanks Vern - steam is probably the platform I’m most comfortable with, having used it for other games through the years. I’ve been running SimRail on there (with the new PC it’s looking pretty good on higher settings) among a bunch of older games like DCS. I’ll probably start stocking up on steeply discounted dlc whenever the summer sale drops.
If you are on steam check out Green Man Gaming, they have loads of discounted DLC although you might need TSW4 in order to take advantage as their mostly TSW4 versions. But you can find keys for TSW4 or before on various sites for sale which is a cheap way to build up your collection as well.
If you've not bought anything on Steam yet your best bet might be waiting for the inevitable 80% discount on the TSW5 Special Edition which will come up in the summer sale, you'll end up with 9 routes for about £20.
That’s a great call, thank you. Have not purchased any TSW related content on steam yet. Tried it out on the free gamepass trial for a few hours but otherwise I’ve been occupied by American truck sim for the time being.
If I was starting again with TSW, I would go with steam too. Seems like there are so many sales compared to PS too!
Should note that my understanding is that the Steam sale that has usually been in late November has been moved up to late September. So the major sales are now in late December, late March, late June and late September. Makes sense.
