I've only just had time to sit down and try the new Edinburgh to Glasgow Class 158 Sprinter timetable, and wow what a massive improvement this makes to the route! The variety of driveable and AI services is truly amazing, frankly the new timetable from Skyhook makes this feel like a brand new route, it's just so so much better than the original offering. If anyone doesn't have this yet i'd highly recommend it, this new timetable has turned a fairly average route into an outstanding one for me. i just drove a class 385 from Glasgow to Edinburgh, got held behind a freight service most of the way on double and single yellows, passed loads of class 158's especially further down the route, then has a HST Class 43 run right alongside be on approach into Haymarket, ending with seeing the new Leven livery pass me in the oppositie direction on approach to Waverley. the original timetable has a very, very basic half-hourly service.. this new Skyhook Sprinter timetable blows that out of the water, you honestly cannot compare the two it's miles ahead of it. thank you LucaZone and the team for this timetable, it's a massive massive enhancement to the route.. i can only hope you find a way to do exactly the same with Fife Circle now, if you can work the same magic on that route it would be up there as one of the best in game, and something we all hoped for back when Fife was announced, so i really hope that comes to fruition!
I must second that, having splurged in the sale on Fife Circle, the 158, Edinburgh to Glasgow and the 380, not a bad experience all things considered. I mean the routes are Rivet standard so just have to take “as is”, but having a massively comprehensive timetable makes a good difference.
Why are there 4 Kings Cross to Inverness services, when only 1 service per day runs in reality? (Class 801)
Hi All, Bought the 158 in the sale however have not given a proper try out yet in the drivers seat. I have noticed as a conductor that there are some audio glitches when crossing between carriages/gangways as the external audio clips through. Hopefully a fix can be put in place for this?
Hiya, The audio issue next to the vestibule doors is something we have indeed investigated and been unable to resolve. The setup is exactly as it should be but for some reason is problematic. We have referred to DTG for advice about how to move forward with this. Regards
Hiya, This was noted previously in this thread: "There are to many LNER services operating north of Edinburgh." >> The Sprinter timetable features the following. Routing is via Polmont to make them accessible to drive. 1W02 Leeds - Aberdeen (Not player drivable) https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:C71591/2024-12-17/detailed#allox_id=0 1E03 Stirling - London Kings Cross (now showing as starting at Edinburgh IRL. Recent timetable change?) 1E11 Aberdeen - London Kings Cross https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:C71421/2024-12-18/detailed#allox_id=1 1E15 Aberdeen - London Kings Cross https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:C71433/2024-12-18/detailed#allox_id=0 1E25 Aberdeen - London Kings Cross (Not player drivable. Implemented as starting at Edinburgh. IRL timetable change?) 1E30 Aberdeen - Leeds https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:C71475/2024-12-18/detailed#allox_id=0 1W11 London Kings Cross - Inverness https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:C71593/2024-12-18/detailed#allox_id=0 1W16 London Kings Cross - Inverness https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:C71596/2024-12-18/detailed#allox_id=0 1W20 London Kings Cross - Inverness https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:C71599/2024-12-18/detailed#allox_id=0 1W22 London Kings Cross - Stirling (Implemented to return service 1E03 to start point) 1W24 London Kings Cross - Inverness https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:C71602/2024-12-18/detailed#allox_id=0
According to those links, out of the Inverness services, only 1W16 actually goes to Inverness. The other three show as going to Aberdeen.
It happens on the Class 87 as well when in the engine room, the external sounds clip through but then stop as soon as you re-enter the cabs. So it's not just a 158 issue and definitely seems to be a core issue.
Just a quick shout out and thank you to SHG for these and the new timetable. Nice unit to drive and much better on EtoG than the 385. Might just be my imagination, but did the sounds and physics get a bit of a buff from the MML version? It’s a train you want to spend a bit of time with and, as per my previously mentioned service in various Control Offices dealing with these (a breath of fresh air from the rancid 155’s they replaced) conveys a bit of nostalgia. Would be nice to see the Class get a TfW (or earlier Alphaline) makeover next. Although they wouldn’t be seen generally on the Cardiff Valleys, there is massive scope for a Wales or West Country route that would make use of a 158 plus the 150 and 153 DTG are bringing to the game. How about it SHG, back into route building with something like Hereford to Shrewsbury or Shrewsbury to Chester?
Thanks for the feedback, I will pass this onto the team. We are human so it's always nice to read about players enjoying the fruits of our labour. A TfW Class 158 could well be nice to see and has been on our radar since the announcement of the Cardiff based route. However as many have also commented, the current scope does not provide much (if anything) for a 158 to get involved in, so a more suitable route would be required to justify such a development. Thanks for the suggestion of the Hereford-Shrewsbury-Chester line. Route development for TSW requires significant investment and as such requires significant scrutiny and justification in order to go ahead. Looking at the suggested line, as well as large portions of Wales indicates there isn't much to engage with it in terms of main line features beyond simple A to B passenger runs. The attached map is from my own personal mapping of mainline 'things' outside of straight passenger operations. What we have learnt from TSW route development is the importance of operational diversity. This would be a corner stone requirement of any future Skyhook route. South Wales on the other hand has a lot of potential I think, even if we're largely talking historically. I have enjoyed watching many videos by Mike Wilcock (Rails of Wales) on YouTube which inspire many ideas for potential gameplay in TSW. I would highly recommend the channel and its historical (1990s) material. Something based in the 90s encompassing Margam, Aberthaw, Cardiff and a taste of the valleys would make for an incredible TSW experience I reckon. Echoes of what Tees Valley wanted to but didn't quite achieve.
Any estimate yet for the 158 appearing on Fife Circle timetable ? Was hoping yesterday's roadmap would give something away but, alas, nothing
It is a good unit, I have really enjoyed giving it a good thrashing over Christmas. With regard to TfW 158s, they did also drop onto Manchester Airport services from Chester, Llandudno and Holyhead so there is potential there with the Manchester Airport line in development
First time playing since subbing to the CC livery. I forgot I’d done so, but it was jittering and stuttering and lagging loads since passing under that tram bridge, and then noticed the SR HST in Haymarket Depot. For some reason, DTG still can’t seem to stop creators club liveries causing crazy stuttering
I lived in Bridgend from 1997 to 2006 when Wales & West moved their Control from Swindon to Cardiff (Cardiff house prices were just crazy stupid, even back then). Used the train to commute about 50% of the time and the first years were the tail end of the iron ore traffic from Margam up to Llanwern. It was a real treat to stand on the Up Platform at Bridgend and a 56 or 60 came pounding through on a loaded ore train. As you say, Marches perhaps doesn't have the iconic appeal and while there are scenic sections there are also quite a few bits which pass through flatter country. Still would be nice to see something Wales main line at some point along with the 158!
Thought I would drop this in here. This screenshot didn't make the cut for the Roadmap (thats fine, its not the most exciting). Fife Circle Sprinter timetable in production and testing.
Great to see the progress being made. Definitely got the potential to turn a very average route into one that's genuinely good to drive on (albeit thanks to Rivet's "scenery" at night rather than day !) Really looking forward to the release.
At present, No It currently only appears on the Edinburgh Glasgow timetable but on a dedicate diagram on the Leven services. From what has been posted Rivet made the timetable for the Fife line in a non-standard format and Skyhook are trying to unpick it so they can add the 158, and they are making progress, so hopefully it shouldn’t be too long now.
10 days isn't that long when it comes to this sort of thing. Then you've got to factor in working hours, and the fact they probably don't work weekends.
