Not yet, feels like it's been a very long wait. Route still annoys me much more than it should! Nothing major (well, scenery and 170 sounds aside) but just lots of little things like Dunfermline City and Dunfermline Queen Margaret still both coming up as just "Dunfermline" on destination boards. Given up all hope that Rivet will ever get off their arses and fix them though.
It's clear that neither rivet as developer or dovetail as publisher actually care about their product anymore but are just in it for the income from selling whatever their latest dlc is which won't have been tested on console and is likely to be broken in a later patch because dovetail have no quality control or just don't care. Anyone on the fence about buying this route, please spend your money on something else. Rivet and dovetail shouldn't see another penny from it. My last words in this thread.
That hope should never have been there at all. They never fixed West Cornwall Local, or any of their other add ons. Why would they do the same here?
The High Winds scenario is botched at the end. It has things bacwards, where you’re told to reverse onto the silding and then only after reaching the final stop it has you sit in the other end of the car. The intent was probably to switch ends and then drive forward to the final stop.
Never seen that on Fife Circle in real life before (live in Fife !) but quite often see them coupled up to 158s. Who knows, maybe when (if ??) Skyhook ever get round to releasing the 158 timetable on the Fife Circle it might happen in game too.
Only time I saw any 6 car 170s in Scotland were on Inverness-Edinburgh/Glasgow services but that was rare as it was more often a 170/158 combo
In other news, I see that this week Google Earth finally updated to display new 2025 imagery that actually features the Leven branch! I was having a pain just this monday explaining to friends what the stations look like because they weren't yet visible there.
Most services stop at all stations, the only express runs are between Edinburgh Waverley and the Forth Bridge.
one of early trains around 5am even skips quite a few stations before the bridge, and I even managed to reach 100 mph which I believe is the vmax of 170
that reminds me - can someone tell me which kinds of services run 170 in double traction? I like longer trains or when MUs are coupled together... also makes for nicer shots
I went from Cameron Bridge to Edinburgh in real life last summer when the fringe was on and it was a 6 car 170, so they have appeared on the line. Was a 2 car 158 on the way back which was rather snug…
Believe they did several years ago - full Fife Circle but the trains went as far as Newcraighall station once back to Edinburgh. Probably going back 10-15 years (possibly more) from my long gone commuting days.
DB Schenker (with EWS branded class 67) and later DRS (with Class 68) passenger services around the loop. The contracts were to make up for a shortage of DMU's allowing refurbishment of Class 170's. There were only 2 services per day like this covering peak time. The Forth Circle steam hauled rail tour regularly runs most of the way around the circle too but heads to Longannet after Dunfermline so does not return to Inverkeithing on that run.
Presuming Skyhook have figured out Rivet's weird timetabling, I think it's more that - with the timetable submitted to DTG for testing - it's more a DTG issue. Although saying that, Rivet's timetabling will probably still cause problems if nothing works.
I couldn’t get a picture in time but a 6 car 170 formation passed Edinburgh airport heading towards the city yesterday. Perhaps a Sunday service if not a daily occurrence.
I think they sometimes put them on the Highland services too? (Aberdeen/Inverness) But not Dundee and Perth.
Any gossip/whispers around on the release of the 158 timetable ? Feels like it's taken an absolute eternity. As a local I really want to enjoy this route, which I really don't at the minute. Do, however, really like driving the 158 so hoping it will breathe some much needed life into it.
Wonder if this was caused by their adding a Leven service to this page (line 2). I also wonder what was on the bugged line previously and whether completing that service from the Timetable will get you a medal in the Journey.
Running a 158 scenario (PC) and the passengers are getting off the train before the doors have even opened! I suspect this is more likely because of faults with passengers in the game as a whole, rather than this route, but worth mentioning.
