I see no trophies appearing for this route on PS 5. Is this meant to be the case, or are we waiting for a core update that will implement this?
Just for info: in this thread it was established that this must be a bug. Assuming DTG will acknowledge this later… https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/frankfurt-s-bahn-trophies.91586/
Good afternoon, Thank you for your feedback so far. We pushed mastery and achievements/trophies again earlier today, so they should now be available. Could you please confirm if that's the case for you? Thank you, Jan
PS5 first run, S8, BR 430, crashes console as we roll to a stop at Mainz Römisches Theater. Error report sent. Running on fast M.2 in the internal slot. TSW5 remains the only racing or transit sim to crash this PS5 and the only app or game to crash this PS5. What an unreal distinction. P.S. second S8 Hanau-Wiesbaden thru Mainz Römisches Theater by no outside camera, no live map, right-side MFD off, but oooophhh Mainz–Gustavs. there is a passenger crossing over the rails from my side to the other almost under my wheels. Oy. And the filtering UI option is broken: filter window opens, but unresponsive, but it does close. P.P.S. Reached destination on time, earned 43 km recognition, had my fave passenger run in recent memory. No regrets on the purchase. Secondly, my first step this morning was to go to Wiesbaden on foot in the hope of getting some caching out of the way. oh gawd, it IS M.2 in the slot.
When driving the updated BR423 on the route it doesn't show your brake application on the hud. The BR430 doesn't have this problem. Haven't tested the dostos and 142 yet. Playing on Series X.
Hey folks, quick reminder to please keep messages in here to feedback only, please feel free to discuss this release in the appropriate thread. I've moved any discussions to that thread. Thank you, Jan
Just completed my first full run on ps5 pro. And really enjoyed my first run with no problems. Even though it’s a reduced timetable on console still very well made route definitely one of my favourites. Hopefully one day a future update can bring full timetable to console. But overall I’m impressed with this route so far
Frankfurt Main Hbf and Tief are still completely missing PIS which was mentioned during the preview stream. Is this now a permanent optimisation for the area or has it been overlooked in this build?
I've just completed a few short runs on PC (an S2 from Frankfurt using the 423 and an ICE 3 from Frankfurt to the airport). The performance using the full timetable isn't too bad, on par with or maybe slightly better than Frankfurt - Fulda. I was getting 30-40 fps while in Frankfurt Hbf in both cases, but it quickly improved as I left the station area. My PC is probably what would be considered mid-range: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, Nvidia RTX 3060 and 32 GB of RAM. Not performance related, but I also noticed I could hear the rain from the cab while I was stopped at the airport station.
I had a few runs and I'm quite happy with what I've seen so far (playing or PC). The 430 is nice to drive with good sound set. And the route really looks to be as one of the most ambitious routes DTG had done. Really nice to have a full regional S bahn network route with parallel / diverging paths, with one of the busiest european stations being the center. I really wish we get more network routes this size, but considering the backslash it received, I think it will be while before we get another. Sadly.
This route is simply amazing on PC with the full timetable and all layers enabled. I just hope one day our console brothers can (with further optimization), experience it how it should be played. IMO one of the best routes released in the series to date
Route amazing, first run very good impressive. Performances ok, except in Frankfurt Main, it is catastrophic sepcially on foot, memory consumption +10GB on the station!!!
I experienced two crashes around Frankfurt Hbf during the "Regionalbahn-Panne" Scenario. (PS5). Apart from that: Great route.
First impressions very good after 25 minutes or so on a S1 run. As expected the route struggling even at 1440p on the potato PC and I'm guessing the Journey Mode uses the full timetable not the reduced/standard. As always, could be the shaders building on the first couple of runs. Only thing that immediately struck me, is there doesn't seem to be any reverb passing under bridges and structures? Assuming that's not me, come on guys this should be a standard feature on all new routes now. You need to go back and put it in. More to follow.
Overall: great route! One of the greatest that has been released in my opinion. I saw one minor issue, when performing an S7 service from Frankfurt Stadion towards Frankfurt Hbf. When the first signal of the service clears (exit signal at Frankfurt Stadion Platform 1), it shows a proceed aspect (Ks1 if I'm not mistaken) with a zs3 speed indication of '9' (90 kph). This should be '6' (60 kph) as your train is routed over a few switches. Otherwise I haven't encountered issues so far and even on the first run the performance was decent: a few stutters but nothing compared to what we used to see! Even at Frankfurt Hbf I'm having good performance. I'm running on a laptop with a Ryzen 7 8845HS CPU, RTX3070 GPU and 32GB of DDR4 RAM.
This route feels nice. Done so far a RE from Frankfurt to Mainz, after few minutes took over a S-Bahn to Wiesbaden, and then after few minutes back via Mainz to Frankfurt HBF Tief. But I Have three points: 1) Have seen it already in the preview stream, here in the release its still there: Bischhofsheim in direction to Frankfurt. The tracks left (going to Darmstadt), are a little in the air at beginning of the ramp. 2) Found so far two white spots on stations, dont know - should it be so, or is here some collectible poster/map missing to place? (First picture: Mainz; second: Römisches Theater) 3) and as already mentioned by others: The PIS at the platforms of Frankfurt should be added, so that a player know when a train is leaving and in which direction. (The big departure board in the hall doesnt show departures, so it didnt help). But so far, this route makes fun. Could be becoming my most favorite TSW route. Finally: found a nice location for spotting (without any mod which disables the walls):
I agree the PIS should be added. FWIW: you can see which services leave from which platforms to where by pointing your cursor on the platforms in the "9" map. It took me some time before I discovered this feature, but it is even more convenient than looking at all the PIS screens, be it a little less immersive.
Im a bit disappointed to say the least for many reasons: 1. The Regionalbahnhof Flughafen is still set at a later date, it wasn't renovated in 2018. Renovation started in late 2018, early 2019, which means in the time set it was still more or less untouched. 2. The tunnel for the Regionalbahnhof has too bright lighting, the other Tunnel in Mainz and the City Tunnel are correctly lit up. 3. The stretch between Stadion and Südbahnhof, as well as the entry to Frankfurt via Louisa are there trackside and detailing in advanced stages. Why not complete it and add it to both Kinzigtalbahn and S-Bahn Frankfurt, as both entry points (Louisa and Niederrad) are used for trains, especially IC and ICE from Mainz and Hanau in order to ease congestion and reduce wait times at HP0 / red signals. It is unrealistic as is now, without this stretch. I am disappointed because so much was looked for after, the layout, landscape etc, but such important details were left amiss. I guess, I'll return it for now and won't ever buy on release products for TSW. I really started to regret this careless decision to purchase. I hope for improvement, to prove my statement on return and wait wrong. Kind regards.
Was driving RE2 service 29539 using a BR 425 DB on pc. When approaching Frankfurt I was stopped at signal 02KK. My train was slotted into platform 18 in the main station. When I checked the map there was another train at the platform which had not gone 'poof'. I deleted it and, another train came into the platform, which, when I deleted it, I was given a signal aspect which allowed me to get into the station. So looks like these other trains did not have, in their schedules, a command to "go away" like good little trains that had completed their runs. Have done 2 runs so far and overall, it is a good route on pc.
Something I've noticed with parts of the timetable is that it is not symmetrical. For example the 766.2 only does RE services away from Wiesbaden whereas the 143 only does services towards Wiesbaden. I wonder if that is causing problems since the game will have to "despawn" a lot of trains.
As a big fan of branch lines, I was initially quite skeptical. But I have to say, alongside Niddertal and Maintal, this is the most extensive branch line in TSW so far! It has busy air traffic, cars, and passengers. So, it has everything, and it feels very lively. Sometimes you'll even come across another train; depending on the additional DLC/layers, there will also be AI and ICE trains. Everything runs very smoothly, nothing seems overloaded or hectic; they are quiet, relaxing rides. It still has a few bugs, etc., as usual, but that hardly bothers you. PC gamers might reach their limits here, as the scope is quite different for them! Upgrading and modding seems to be in order again here. But that doesn't concern me. For the full price, Gen. 9 players get a really well-developed and additional branch line that invites you to cruise and relax, escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life. All this for the full price, but without the stress, stuttering, and crashes. That's a good deal. It reminds me of TSW2020. Every train encounter is a highlight! But now I'm getting sentimental...
I really like the new route. I've been waiting for a new S-Bahn route for quite some time. I do like the BR430 and I really wish there would be more/longer services with the BR 423. My biggest disappointment is the continuing recycle of the BR143 and the Dostos. Yes they are used IRL but for example, the RB75 Wiesbaden Hbf <> Darmstadt Hbf (ingame to Mainz-Bischofsheim) uses the Coradia Continental. This would have been another great new train to include. They are used on a lot of routes that DTG made. Even if it would be AI on other routes I still think DTG should move away from recycling BR143 / BR146 + Dostos or at least give them local liveries (for example: BR146 in Baden-Würtemberg has "bwegt" stickers on the side). Maybe DTG will think about something from this feedback. I really hope the recycling will stop in the future. Since Add-On prices are increasing I think it would only be fair. The BR145 would be nice or the BR186 for freight. If they think about recycling the Dostos they at least could bring the high-entry version where the doors are above the bogie.
When leaving Frankfurt HBF (Tief) with either S-Bahn there are missing LF7 (speed increase) boards. One on the ramp indicating 9 for increase to 90 and then one, at the back of a signal, indicating 10 for increase to 100. Besides that the route looks really good and performs pretty good on PC
When driving a long ICE (ICE 1 for example) from FaM Hauptbahnhof to Fernbahnhof, the LZB stops the train in the station before the stop-marker. So I have to deactive AfB to go closer to the signal, to load/unload passengers.
Just wanted to check back in after reading the overnight comments. Can anyone confirm or rebut my findings that the bridge and tunnel sound reverb is missing?
Maybe it's my imagination but I think I heared some reverb in the tunnel going from FRA-Regionalbahnhof to Kelsterbach this morning. But so far that's the only one I encountered :/
Its a really good route I can't lie at all. I highly reccomend adding a feature that lets us hop on a journey. For example (Wiesbaden to Hanau) Instead of terminating at frankfurt we can hop during the journey and continue to Hanau.
I did a couple more runs last night and I'm really enjoying the route - I think it's very likely to become a personal favourite. The stopping pattern variety is nice, as is having a few open stretches even on the S-routes. I think this is great as I don't always enjoy metro/S-bahn services where all the stations are very close together and it feels like every service is just a stop go stop go. Add into this there's some PZB action in normal timetable rather than just greens, and a few RE services (I'm waiting for a mod to sub in the 146 instead of the hateful 143)... yea, shaping up to be a favourite. It's a very good German route, IMO.
Hey folks Just wanted to update on Achievements/Trophies for Frankfurt S-Bahn. Currently, they are unavailable, because of the way the platforms set up these features, they would still show up on some Gen 8 consoles where players cannot actually earn them. We're investigating options, will provide updates as soon as we have more information. As a note, and to manage expectations, this is likely to be a bigger challenge to resolve on Microsoft platforms. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. All the best, Jan
I have to add another thing to the list. I like the BR425 and I'm glad it made it into the layers of the timetable. However, I think it would be nice if DTG made a generic version of the "verkehrsrot" livery since it's unrealistic to see the "Niedersachen ist am Zug" livery (Bremen-Oldenburg Route) everywhere in germany. The best thing would be a nice RMV (Rhein-Main Verkehr) livery to match the BR423 and BR430. I've attached two images of the BR425 in RMV livery.
Is just or does the BR143 wheel spin really bad no matter setting you have the force selector on. Even starting of low it wheels spins like crazy.
I cannot confirm this. Drives like any other 143/112/114. No wheelslip on my side with a 239ton, 3-coaches-consist...
You have to "play" with the power regulator (little switch thing next to the selector). I start with 50-60% and increase with speed
Tried to play a number of the shorter items on the timetable with the BR 430.1 DB out of Frankfurt or into Frankfurt last night, such as the 15:06 S8(36840), and tried several times but always came across the problem of hitting a red signal which never changes e.g. the one right at the end of the platform when leaving the station. On the services leaving Frankfurt I noticed the tick tock of the doors as soon as I stopped at the signal, despite the doors being closed. Tried again today and there are no problems and I can't recreate it. PC (Steam)
When driving ICE 1654 and arriving at Mainz Hbf. northbound, 500hz status acts weird and continues ~30m beyond the signal. Is this prototypical?
Driving RB75 28702 service, in the timetable there is no arrival time into Wiesbaden Hbf - is that intentional? Not sure if it applies on other services yet - will edit if that's the case
As regards the reverb, driving from the BR143 it does seem to be present so not sure if it's being drowned out by the 430 ambient noise or something needs tweaking on the train setup. Bit disappointing that the first proper element in Journey Mode is the dull 143 and cab car, maybe things should have been mixed up a bit more. Performance... well with Lossless Scaling up and running properly after rebuying it and scaling TSW5 from a 1920 x 1080 window, I was getting fairly steady frame rates in the high 20's (!) with, to be fair, not much juddering. So I'm now about to see what 1440p offers.
Just got an out of video memory crash driving the ICE was 1.5 miles from frankfurt HBF. Job ICE (1657) Wisebaden hbf - Dresden hbf time 18.24 duration 49mins. This was on xbox x dtg_jan
