I know, but, apart from knowing german myself, the subtitles are usually mediocre and aren't very accurate.

Really? I thought all TSW2-era mods were incompatible.

Don‘t want to be that guy but in 2018 the 423 did not run on the S1/8/9 lines. Pretty much from the day that the 430 entered service, they replaced everything that ran on theses lines (420 and 423). The 423 runs on the S2-6 thus it‘s drivability on the route is limited. Before the 430 arrived we had a mixture which is why I think a hybrid timetable with both 420s and 423s would be nice

You never know, may as well try your luck with any that you find that still interest you. This one I too can confirm still works.

well, many simple mods such as texture change ones work just fine, as nothing has really changed in the asset paths in the plugins of the trains and routes etc. across the different iterations of TSW. I think the only major thing that may prevent even older mods to work is the TSW2 rush hour update.

They do work, but because they don't have the content manifest file when packed, if you have too many old mods, the game runs out of memory and will crash on startup. Not an issue for most people, but since I enjoy variety, I sometimes have to rotate mods I have installed.

I have been watching cab ride videos from IC locomotive driver's channel. He places the cam behind him so you can see what he is doing with the controls. Further, he has placed English translation of what is happening in the CC of the video. I have learned a lot about German signaling and the various safety systems from watching his work.

Disappointing to read in the official feedback thread, that despite all the comments about this on WCMLS etc. we are still getting new routes coming out with passengers straying onto the track at stations.

Just bought it but Steam seems to be having a bit of a go slow. The file is only 7.9Gb so should download in around 15 mins but currently crawling along!

Yes, no response from DTG about this.

Of course the moment the absence of trophies and achievements is raised, the response is immediate and repeated.

    Priorities, I guess.

First thoughts... the route is beautiful, the trains are great. Even though I have a high-end PC, I still get occasional shutters (occasional = every 10 seconds). I haven't tried the reduced timetable yet, but I won't be playing that one regularly...

Well Steam seems to have picked up the beat (don't forget Roadcraft also came out today) so should be playing in a couple of minutes. I expect the 430 has the usual tedious once around the Training Centre to start Journey Mode, I'll ignore that one for now...

Do you play the tutorials? lol. I exclusively play timetable. No scenarios, no journey, no tutorials (except for steam).

I like to start off with the Journey as it's kind of the "Editor's Choice" and sadly that usually does include the rather pointless trek around the TC. IMHO the tutorial should take place on the actual route itself.

Liking the route so far, and really like the 430, it has great sounds. Currently doing an S9 run from Frankfurt, and think I may need to run it again as either my German signalling knowledge is poor or there's some missing signage/incorrect signalling not far out of Frankfurt.

The route is definitely a bit taxing around Frankfurt, even for my 9800X3D + 9070XT combo, though worth noting I run the game at 4K, with no upscaling etc, just pure, brute-force, rasterised rendering.

I sometimes play tutorials if it is sth entirely new, like ATB was or some stuff on Expert 101 (also Cajon Pass had a tutorial on what each of brake systems does)... but yeah, I also mostly jump right into timetable... 430 looks easy to set up, looking forward to those massive 12car formations

I'm on PC, and when running full timetable of this route, TSW ate 10GB/32GB RAM + 7.4GB/8GB VRAM. I guess now I know why this thing is not on console...

Did my first run a while ago, Steam, and was getting in the low 50s - upper 40s around Frankfurt but low 60s most everywhere else. A bit of shuddering, but it was the first run and the computer has to get to know the route. Will do another now and see how it is. Video card wise, have 4090.

Just had an out of memory crash upon approaching Frankfurt on PS5. Admittedly I was using Free Roam, using a formation which would have mounted the content of just two other places. So either even the reduced timetable is not enough to make it stable on PS5, or it really is that bad that even a single layer more will kill it. While I am eagerly invested in the improvements Matt has been talking about, this doesn't give me much hope for the full timetable coming to consoles, at least not until 10th gen gets here...

Noticed on pc version, the timetable lists 1602 services, way above the 1010 noted in the notes.

That figure is the sum of both timetables, isn't it? ~1000 on the "full" and ~600 on the reduced.

Don't really know, the 600 on the reduced are trains that should be included into the full schedule already.

Just to note, the updated GodMode is out for this route.

I've decided to buy the route today, as I enjoyed "split" routes like RRO and HRR. I also appreciate that DTG listened to the community and added the other airport station. Just playing Journey Mode by now, but checked out what different services are offering and can't complain. The duration and variety of different services is spot on for me. Just one issue - Maik, please, give us that BR 420 ASAP! ;) It's not that 423 and 430 are bad in any way (haven't tried 430 yet), but I'm more into older stuff. Regarding the FPS drops in some areas - yes, it still happens sometimes and I have a quite powerfull PC, but I think I've got used to it by now...

Everyone plays how they like and that's how it should be. Solid way to do it, I like to jump on a daytime clear non-dynamic service. I wanted to start with a S8 service but accidentally selected S1 ;) The S1 stutters alot more, I thought it would be the other way around.

I‘ve done a few runs now and I really like it… granted, the Mainbahn is my home line so I am biased but it is really well done. HOWEVER the (expected) performance issues are evident. My PC (i7 12700H, 16GB RAM and RTX 3050ti with the game on mid to low settings) is not the strongest in the graphics department but it runs most routes just fine on the same settings. Especially in Ffm I get an average of max 20 FPS which is a bummer. Maybe the promised performance optimisations bump that up to an average of 30FPS which would be enough for my standards. It says a lot that in free roam without a single train spawned, standing at Ffm Hbf I can‘g get past 50 FPS…

It's in shadow in the screenshot; in full sun it's brighter, just about spot-on.

Can't help the VVRR logo, I didn't make it

I’ve been watching all the youtube runs of this and I’m really intrigued. I have generally focused on UK DLC and haven’t ventured beyond that, although after just returning from the US and seeing those Goliath freight services it’s really got me excited to try new DLC.

Would PC users recommend this add on with all the layers? I’m finding the more DLC I add, the clunkier and slower TSW is to boot up. Is this a common issue?

    Thanks

GPU means nothing in busy stations, it's entirely CPU & Memory Bandwidth bound. You need 9800X3D to hit over 60 FPS at 4K at Frankfurt.

Terminus stations are asset heavy with a lot of AI. Performance there doesn't scale with GPU, CPU compute, resolution or settings. The only thing it scales with is L3 Cache size and RAM. The game really struggles with AI traffic, even in 2021 my 5800X would stutter and micro freeze every time I pass an AI train. It's not an issue with the specific route, it's a deeper level issue with how this game handles AI traffic and it hasn't been optimised for years.

I can't get 60fps at 4K rendering at Frankfurt with my 9800X3D. To say the GPU means nothing is absolutely false - my GPU is sat at 100% so is clearly the bottleneck. Once I'm clear of the station area the GPU usage fluctuates between60-80% and I maintain 60fps without issue.

With this cpu , I am getting upper 40s to low 50s in Frankfurt. Outside of there is runs upper 50s to its limit at 62 fps.
    Processor AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16-Core Processor 4.20 GHz
Installed RAM 64.0 GB (63.2 GB usable)
    Video is NVidia 4090
This system is a year old now. I am running Windows full screen which in screen resolution is shown as 5760 x 3240. I know it can't run at this resolution on my current Dell monitors, but it is at 4K.

Wow, I'd love to see it at 6k. Is that even an option on the TSW settings screen?

For insights on memory usage with full timetable on PC: When full timetable is loaded, 22GB of virtual memory were used around those terminus and a maximum of 16.2GB/32GB physical memory was taken. Also the route tend to ate 7.4GB/8GB of VRAM of my graphics card. This means by just standing at Frankfurt Hbf. consoles with 16GB RAM could crash.
In the end I'd recommend anyone with less than 24GB ram to stick with reduced timetable.

It's what I expect from a simulator and therefore hold apropriate hardware to run it with maximum details at highest resolution for my enjoyment. When something bottlenecks, I can upgrade or replace it. It's been like that the past 30+ years in PC gaming.

Empty ram is wasted performance, not the other way around. Everything not there must be loaded at multiple volume slower speed from other places. It's about how smart the loading and unloading there is, but ram being used up is not at all the wrong thing here. If you have 128 GB ram that's great, but if we have useful things to fill it with, we absolutely should do so.

    That's not true.
Train agents don't matter, because as far as CPU is concerned, it doesn't matter if the train is in your area, or on another part of map, it has to be simulated the same way. So being at a busy stations just doesn't change the CPU load AI agents wise. So Frankfurt AI has the same load even if you're not if Frankfurt area.

Passengers could have an effect, but there is a hard limit on how many passengers can spawn, and this limit is global (ts2.passenger.MaxPlatformPassengers). So the same amount of passengers can spawn on small station, as can on a big station (that's why the big ones often look so empty).

    Frankfurt is 100% GPU limited.
Easy test for it is - just look directly at the ground. Does the FPS increase considerably as opposed to when you're looking at the yard? If yes, then it is a GPU limit.

How did you get those RAM numbers?
For me, playing at 4k (1440p native, DLDSR) In Frankfurt, the game consumes around 9GB or RAM + 7.7GB of VRAM.

Correction, it is opposite, 9GB of VRam + 7.7GB of Ram, which is quite reasonable.

It's from task manager's detail tab, and you will need to turn on "total committed" metric
