This is the master feedback thread for the new Route Hopping feature. Please keep all discussions only related to feedback and provide the game platform you are using in any comments for feedback. Thank you! Support Information: TSW5 Master FAQ Route Hopping FAQ Page
One of the key route hopping points is at Queens Park, so that you can do the new WCML from Harrow & Wealdstone and then transfer over to the old Bakerloo line DLC to Elephant & Castle, but the Route hopping point is on the main line platforms, surely it would make sense to have this on the Underground platform for easier access ? Hopefully this can be sorted.
Well..., with that TSW5 Route Hopping feature free roam getting somewhat interessing....started a Vectron with 20 loaded Zacns down in Wuppertal-Steinbeck... and drove it all the way up to Finnentrop...ok, with a short service break in Hagen, where I might have gotten a coke and and chocolate bar...but all in all, a nice 1 hour 35 minutes ride... . Even though my head starts to spin...wouldn't it be nice to have a Leipzig-Riesa route...would mean you could drive from Dessau all the way down to Dresden ?! Or wasn't there someone in the PC-Editor forum mentioning, he is building Hamburg-Hannover? Well, with an additional Hannover-Kassel route build by someone...there might be a perspective to ride an ICE from Hamburg all the way down to Frankfurt/Würzburg? Some things getting somewhat attractive...and 'closing the gaps' might become less unattractive...
Tried this out on the three Scottish routes: • When hopping Glasgow Queen Street to Central, it just took me to the default timetable for Cathcart. Is there a way to get to the new timetable? • At Central the route hop doesn’t show Edinburgh to Glasgow as an option (in fact there are no hopping options at all) For WCML: • I think the hopping point at Queen’s Park should be on the Bakerloo Line / Overground platforms rather than on the main lines This is on the Xbox One X
Hopping point is missing from Brighton on London Commuter (bit it is present on East Coastway). Hope this and the other issues get fixed. Route Hopping was definitely one of the TSW5 features I was most excited for, but it doesn’t seem to work as advertised. (XBox One X)
[PS4] When trying to route hop from Rhein Ruhr Osten to Ruhr Sieg Nord and from Tharandter Rampe to Nahverkehr Dresden: No option for route hopping is being shown. The reverse direction works in both instances.
Had a strange route hopping experience. At Fulda I jumped from the TSW5 Frankfurt route to the TSW3 route and ended up in the middle of nowhere (see screenshot). When I jumped back using the station jump feature I saw the displays showed the next trains as being in the past. I’ve also used route hopping and ended up back in the same route I wanted to hop from. In general this feature is incredibly buggy and the bugs seem random and hard to reproduce. (Xbox One X)
I noticed some ICE services travel over both the Kassel Würzburg and Frankfurt routes, so I decided to give jt a go. I selected ICE 275 from Berlin Ost to Interlaken Ost. When I arrived into Fulda station, I ran over to the cone thing and attempted to hop over to the Frankfurt route, only to find that I spawned in the void several miles north of Fulda. It wasn't a big issue, since I could fast travel back to Fulda, but when I arrived it was foggy (not the light clouds I had selected on Kassel Würzburg), and there were no trains to be seen on the entire map. Was this feature tested before release, by any chance?
Can we have the ability to hide the route hopping markers please? They stand out like big glowing beacons in the game world and ruin immersion, especially at night. I’m never going to use them so would like them gone. They are not at all discreet.
Nice to see after 4 months the route hopping problems at Brighton abd Paddington still don't work. I'm sorry but this game is getting unplayable on Xbox series X due to all the problems recently.
I'm sure I'd written this somewhere before but I can't find that post so I'm rewriting this here… There are missing route hopping points in Aschaffenburg Hochschule and Aschaffenburg Sud (and if the developers wish to, the Hafen yard as well...).
Upon reconsideration, I guess that was a deliberate decision. Not every station seems to get a hopping point. For example, on WCML South, tons of stations are shared with the Bakerloo route add-on, but they only added hopping points to the 2-3 biggest (Elephant & Castle and Harrow & Wealdstone, I believe).
Kind of silly, if you ask me. I'd rather the markers be made less of an eyesore but be present wherever the routes share a station.
My specific 'wonder' about this feature is "would it be that different to do this with an entire train?" Just sub in your service for the same service on the connected route and spawn in after a loading screen?
Absolutely agree. A cheap way of having long drives (the more so in the future with new routes coming). Even if that implies stopping, it's better than nothing.
Generally after the first 6 months or so I‘m pleased with this feature… there is one thing: A lot of the hopping markers at connections to new routes are missing on existing routes, these include but might not be limited to: -London Paddington on GWE to the Bakerloo Line, Euston, Victoria and St. Pancras -All hopping markers on the Bakerloo Line (Paddington and the overground stations at which you can hop to/from the WCML South) -The hopping points to the Mildmay Line: Willesden Junction (WCML and Bakerloo), Gospel Oak (GOBLIN), Camden Road and Stratford (both SEHS) My focus is on the London network and German routes and interestingly the lack of markers is only present on the London routes, all German points (Hagen, Dresden, Aschaffenburg and Fulda) work perfectly
There's another one at Aschaffenburg to switch between Main-Spessart-Bahn and Maintalbahn... works fine too
Could it be looked at in the future for PC users that Modded TTs if installed in the DLC folder can show up in the route hopping menu, is that possible with the coding?
Something that's just clicked to me: TSW3 saw the Birmingham Cross City add on be released. TSW5 we finally get a route out of Euston with AWC who have regular trains to Birmingham New Street. What is the point of route hopping? Route hopping was advertised as a TSW5 selling point. Yet one of the core routes literally doesn't take advantage of it.
Route hopping is only used to teleport between identical stations, or to/from nearby stations in the same city. Making the big jump to Birmingham wouldn’t make a lot of sense, especially with there being no AWC AI whatsoever at Birmingham New Street.
That's just it though. By not going to Birmingham, it leaves a huge gap that doesn't need to be there. Having WCMLS not go to Birmingham, they failed to take advantage of what is supposed to be a defining feature. What's the point of adding a core feature such as route hopping, when a core route is unable to fully take advantage of it?
At the end of my GX service to Brighton, I noticed two ECW 313 services soon to depart. With a little free time I decided to route hop and see if either service was still there for a some extra driving. After selecting the 313 timetable from the route hopping menu at Brighton, I was transported to an empty space, with a sky and horizon that had no end. Pulling up the map I noticed no landmarks, but after zooming out to the max I saw that I was in fact on the ECW map, just so, so far away from any useful location. Luckily, I still had my wits about me and was able to utilize my fast-travel ability to make it back to Brighton. This is when I noticed that I was also in a time warp. Although my personal clock read about half past ten, and the PIS informed that the next train was due at about 1038, the PIS also showed that the current time was... 0500. Of course it mattered little since there were no trains anywhere. On the entire map. New theory: the very prominent route-hopping cones were not accidentally designed that way as an immersion-killing mistake. In fact, the color and shape serve as a warning to stay away from this dangerous warping of space and time! This eerie tale of woe brought to you by the Xbox Series S and DTG.
Any timeline or even thought being given to adding route hopping from Goblin to Mildmay? Overdue at this point, and worry yours going to come with the eventual Richmond extension.
