Would it be possible one day to get scenarios that have a series of tasks, but no detailed instructions for using the locomotive? I enjoy the pre-written scenarios the most, them being more fun than scheduled traffic. But as you accumulate hours of play, detailed in-cab instructions become unnecessary. So, scenarios without locomotive user instructions? And many of those? Would love that.

I certainly think there is some merit in not being told how to shut down and start up the cab each time you change ends, or to choose to remain in the current cab and just use external view. However equally there will be those who appreciate the hand holding and some of these scenarios can act as a kind of advanced tutorial.

Some randomness in scenarios could be good tho, like points failure casing a platform change or even signal faults and failed trains causing minor re-routes, but how you would go about scripting that in is beyond me LOL, i suppose you would have to re-write a lot of the pathing and script triggers that are currently in place in the game for it even to be possible.

I think you would be better off having that in Timetable mode. The problem I can see, without having some sort of signaller and controller algorithms to manage out of course running, platform changes at termini etc. (which the real railways would pay to have), busy routes like BML or the new FSB could descend into anarchy very quickly.

As regards scenarios, not sure how flexible the scripting is as regards either/or flags and can send you on a different course depending whether you complete an objective successfully or in time. This is not a new concept as the ancient original Wing Commander game had a mechanism like this where at various times you could find yourself on the losing path, but successfully completing one of the missions could put you back on course to win the game.
