JT have no plans to put significant work into extending down to Windermere. They would say so, it would generate positive publicity. Also they have a very small team and it would take the devs potentially 3-4 months to instigate. Also the CCN Route is a DTG product, so JT will not be altering the route, just making a new timetable, along with revised Pacer/s. DTG "could" extend down to Barry Island, but we all know once a DLC is released DTG don't look back. (and yes I am aware that CCN was contracted out to Rivet, but officially it sits with DTG).
I’m hoping that Levenmouth and the upcoming Richmond extension on Mildmay set enough precedent for a Barry Island extension. It’s a decent little route but should’ve either been £25 or gone to BI for £30.
153 door buttons lit when doors are locked and only go out when train is moving. destination boards not working in scenario mode in the hud top left corner trains due time not underneath current time shows -:-:-
Xbox series X - I believe both marker lights should be switched on when using either Day or night lights? However only 1 marker is on.
With this route currently sitting at 20% off in the flash sale, still a bit conflicted whether it’s worth even £24. Watched a couple of streams on YT, one by DadRail and the other by Richy somebody or other. Both seemed to be drooling over it, but well, complimentary copies how unbiased are the reviews? Got to admit the 153 looks and sounds nice but the 150 still comes across a bit meergh. Lacks that rancour growl to the engine they are renowned for. And you still can’t escape just how short the whole thing is. Opinions, good people?
I'd say it's worth it for the 153 and 150/2. Plus the JT 142 will be on it eventually as well. As for playability....for me not so much.
It’s the prospect of the 142 that is tempting me. Of course there is the possibility by the summer sale it could be going for 30% off.
Bought this on sale and considering refunding it. Why is there a giant floating rectangle of foliage in the sky to the west visible on every service to or from that way?
I enjoy it, but, I enjoy short bus stop routes and I rarely leave the cab, so never really notice things like the station frontage. Despite enjoying it, I still think it’s massively overpriced for what it is, even at 20% off. I’d wait for a bigger discount.
there's also a random floating thing that i can only describe as looking like a weird lego shaped block to the west of the line between Heath High and Low Levels and Cardiff Queen Street, close to a church spire, which is always noticeable when heading south towards Queen Street.. i do like this route overall but it could definitely do with some polishing (and not having to close doors on a red aspect in order to get the signals to step up!)
80% of the route IS very nicely done, the station models are very nice. The Class 153 is decent. The Class 150 is better, the sounds are still average, but they lazy copy and paste re-used ancient ones. If you like 20-30 minute services its fun to dip in and out of. There's plenty AI action to see, the route is pretty busy. The forthcoming Just Trains Pacer and new timetable will be fun too.
I’ve got this one now, and I’ll say that the ‘network’ effect of it gives the route a different feel.. different to say Mildmay or BCC. It’s less about the mileage, more about the criss-cross nature of the lines, and what service you’ll get a chance to drive next.. Someone said elsewhere that they rarely choose a service from the timetable menu, and instead spawn on foot and see what comes. That’s what I’ve done, and it’s great. That excitement of knowing another train is coming soon, and rushing over to commandeer it, and then running it either to Central, via Central or into Canton.. it just feels alive and comparable to a busy urban interconnected railway. It’s let down in ways that I can mostly overlook.. the ‘jump to opposite platform’ feature surely didn’t take less time to implement than just making a passable walkway? The London-bound HST sets being 4-car ones is a slight prick in bum too.. the knowledge (or hearsay) that it was supposed to include Barry Island is a sucker punch as well.. But then, DTG did add Cohan and Heath High Level after announcing the route, likely because of feedback on the forums, the HST layers can be fixed, the platform traversal can be improved.. I’m hoping that now JT have their hands on an add-on for it, it will likely receive a more prompt update than if they hadn’t!
I'm not a fan of this either... though I must confess, I'm a very naughty boy and just run across the tracks in game 90% of the time rather than using an actual crossing. Still, I want to see these things implemented properly as much as possible, I'm not a fan of glowing interactable beacons for things, very out of place!
Has the modder who did the removal mod for the route hopping icons, or anyone else, made one to get rid of the giant glowing beams on this route yet? It's absolutely doing my head in!
Any updates at all with regards to fixing scenery issues like the eye sore that is Whitchurch and touching up a few more places on the route foilage wise?
I've put in a steam refund request. The route is flat out unacceptable as-is. This should never have been made publicly available in such a shoddy state. It truly screams "half-arsed cash grab shoehorned into the schedule before starting on TSW6". I can only hope that if enough of us refuse to buy it or refund it, they might at the very least decide to give it a basic first 15-minute quality control pass. More likely though, this was never going to see any kinds of improvements, and never will under any circumstances. A shame, as this is very much the kind of route I had been hoping for more of! But the cursed monkey paw was what decided to grant my wish.
Thanks Princess. My final decision was not to buy even at sale price and seems vindicated. Maybe at 80% off.
I WANT to love it. But there's too many things about it frustrated me. The really obvious sloppily placed terrain, be it floating in the sky or clipping through stuff. The giant glowing teleporters taking me right out of my immersion. I also noticed, though I don't know if this is some new core bug, that I'd leave a train upon completing a service to free roam, and be wandering along a different platform then suddenly have objectives start popping up for a random AI driven train. Was this part of the WIP fixing of the objectives when taking over new services? Haven't tested another route for this behaviour since I am waiting for the steam refund and do not want to up the playtime on TSW.
Funnily enough, Rivet are the ones who actually have extended a line like that post-release, with the Leven branch..
Wait… is this some sort of early version of the route map collectible, and was the network originally indeed supposed to extend to those places? If they really changed plans so late into development that the collectibles were already done, surely there will be things to find outside the route boundaries for our hidden content detectives?
I saw in the patch notes that the 150/2 will be receiving new sounds such as new variations on idle, new engine startup and shutdown sounds and overall new sounds for the engine. I know they are still testing the sounds but I hope we get them maybe this week or next week, squeeze it out in a patch. Been looking forward to hear them
Idk if anyone has mentioned it yet in this thread but the way the engine runs down after a notch 3 departure isn’t accurate in the 153, it almost sounds like it’s idling. In this video you can hear the engine is still running at a high rpm before the driver increases power. The 158 had this same problem back when MML first came out
I along with someone else also mentioned that the Class 153 revs at notch 3 departure drop way too low for a diesel sprinter. I’ve always said that the Class 153 in particular needs more oomph at notch 3. The 150-2 on CCN now has that rev buildup in notch 3 but could also do with the idle in notch 3 being a tad bit higher!
Was doing a conductor mode service from Penarth to Coryton. No one boarded at Cardiff Central, but 19 boarded at Ty Glas to to Birchgrove. Realistically, it'd be the other way round, I'm pretty sure 19 people wouldn't want to travel between those two stations at the same time.
I believe Matt said conductor mode tickets are just randomised - in the sense that hypothetically you could have a whole 390 to check between EUS and WFJ. I suppose some authored constraints could be sensible, but I guess that would create a whole lot more work - especially if they were to be made realistic.
