Well it's finally arriving! TML studios has challenged themselves to create a UK/England DLC for fernbus simulator. I have just received a 34gb update so I wonder if this will be free for all/UK players? Ethier way this is really cool to see.
Watched the dev stream, Amesbury is in the game it looks like, Southampton is, and it does look like Eastleigh is! Looks like I may have to look into this game.
I do own Fernbus though not currently installed as it played like the quintessential Aerosoft title -i.e. close but no cigar. However I have seen the odd Flixbus appearing in the UK usually when driving along the M4, so if it’s done well could be of interest. Do we have any inklings as to a possible release date?
The latest preview shows them making it in unreal engine so I'd expect a month or two yet at least. They're not good at announcing stuff so best advice is follow the yt channel and keep an eye out on the store. On Xbox at least I've seen two dlc's appear without a hint they were coming lol so yeah. Just gotta keep an eye out I'm afraid.
It would be a sale item for me, I think. Now the ETS2 bus and coach add on, even if it’s likely several months or even over a year away, will be well worth the wait.
ETS2 bus gameplay is going to be a banger. As it is, I can’t seem to peel myself off of ATS/ETS at the moment, never mind when the bus update eventually drops. I switched to PC from console about a month ago and tbh I’m a little surprised at how much more I’m enjoying these two truck sims than any of the flights sims out there (besides DCS). I guess I’m more of a ground transportation guy.
I’m having the same experience with Roadcraft, albeit at low graphics setting pending better hardware. There’s far more depth to it than another A to B run on an identikit electric route in TSW. Really got me thinking, doesn’t matter what routes they add to the game at this point. The gameplay has got stale with no real purpose or structure.
I've got more hours played in ATS on my PC than I have TSW4 and 5 combined on my PS5. I own pretty much every DLC pack for ATS (minus a few customisation packs). I don't enjoy ETS2 as much due to the narrower roads but it will be fun trying my hand at bus driving.
If they make Scotland I’ll buy this game. I’ve seen gameplay and it looks pretty good actually. It was full of bugs but that was ages ago so they might have fixed most of them now.
Yea I switched to PC from ps5 about a month ago with the goal of mainly playing flight sims while also trying out stuff like run8, simrail, and the two SCS truck sims.... and I've gone full bore into ATS. I grabbed all of the DLC on sale (excepting the customization packs) ordered the truck console from Hori (heard mixed reviews but giving it a shot), picked up TrackIR, etc. I'm US based so I had to try ATS first, but with this recent news of a bus addon in the distant future has me prepped for a few ETS runs. Good time for me to rotate those two games... Especially since I've shelved the flight sims for the time being, and I don't have TSW installed on my PC yet (waiting for a steep Steam sale to give me an opportunity to start rebuilding my library since we cannot transfer addons from ps5). Roadcraft looks pretty good, as Vern mentioned, but nothings peeling me off of the truck sims at the moment. I may have to give Fernbus a shot next time it's on a Steam sale, given that it does look a lot better on PC than on console. Anyone know if there are any good physics mods for Fernbus?
ETS2 actually does a very good job of reflecting how narrow and awful UK highways are, when even many A Roads are quite narrow with zero visibility corners hidden behind unkempt hedges, no shoulders to pull over on etc. And roundabouts, with or without traffic lights… Driving a truck around them in the game taught me a new respect for the guys and gals out there with the real thing, as they try to manoeuvre their rigs around lanes barely wide enough for a hatchback car because some council or highways design guru decided they were the best idea since sliced bread!
If you've not already I'd very highly recommend Promods for the UK, the narrow roads in the Highlands are infinitely better than what the base game offers, and through Wales you've got some fairly tight curves on the A-roads. Less so in Ireland were they've only put in major roads for the most part.
I did use ProMods for a while but got tired of chasing the endless cycle of SCS updates breaking the mod then having to redownload everything then remove the old and install the new. The best part of ProMods for me was the Far North which we will be getting at some point later this year (hopefully) as the official Nordic Horizons DLC.
