I am planning to recreate the disused lines between Mark's Tey to Shelford via Sudbury & Haverhill, including the branches via Halstead, Lavenham & Saffron Walden. These lines are nearly complete for TSC, but as you can imagine, this will take some time as the route building process is completely different. At least, I can reuse most of the assets from the existing TSC game.
I expect it will take se several years to make, but I can reuse all the custom assets from my TSC stour valley route. Tha route is nearing completion.
Progress to date, all tiles have lidar and basic track layout between stations, this will keep me busy for a few years.
That's amazing news, it's looking pretty hefty that's for sure. Do you reckon this could be released in parts? For example.. Marks Tey - Sudbury for part 1
While it is preferable to complete the track and signalling as one project, I've seen videos from route-builders who recommend the track be completed before adding signals as it could cause issues if track is added to a signaled route. I will look at splitting the scenery into sections as this will be, by far the most time consuming part of this project. Track and signalling may take a few months to a year. The scenery will take years, there is only one of me.
Yea that's completely understandable, hope it all goes well and can't wait to see more of this in the future
Just laying track at the stations, here is Sudbury for example. Nine done about another thirty to go.. Chappel & Wakes Colne, easy to see where the viaduct will be. I don't intend on doing any signalling until the track layout is complete.
I sincerely hope you get taking on by DTG as a 3rd party dev, even though it will take years to complete, it will be a welcome addition to TSW and I'm sure people would having no issue paying for it.
Some progress over the past few weeks, but some challenges with PC Editor slowed things down. All Stations and sidings have been laid out (except Cambridge, this one still being worked on, very complex). I will soon start signalling the section between Marks Tey and Sudbury. As this route is basically a rebuild of the TSC route I worked on previously, which I have also continued to work on. I have just uploaded the latest copy of the route to my website (see signature below) so if you can't wait for this to be completed, here's one I prepared earlier.
Some Progress, just trying to get to grips with modular meshes, looks like a good way to create Station buildings & signal boxes as most use the same basic design. If successful, it means that many of these assets could be modular instead of modelling each one individually. Looks like a badly made jigsaw puzzle at the moment.
That's a great idea - I remember talking with RSDerek years ago about whether that would be possible for the station buildings in his Weardale route as it would have made building stations easier, but it never came to anything. Great to see the "modern" version
I think I am getting the hang of modular signalbox building, doing this will save me a lot of time as I build out the route. I can also use the same approach for stations as well, fortunately, for the GER routes, they have the same style of stations & signal boxes at most stations.
First attempt to make the model in unreal looks OK, the texture gives it the new build appearance at the moment
