Attention! Skyhook Games have a top-secret mission for you conveying some special freight loads. Cargo Line Volume 4: Military is coming 5th June!

    The Story So Far:

Cargo Line Volume 4 continues Skyhook Games’ series of freight-themed gameplay packs that add different freight wagons to formations and more gameplay to selected Train Sim World routes.
    Previous Cargo Line releases include:
    • Cargo Line Volume 1: Petroleum (VTG TEA Tanker Wagon)
    • Cargo Line Volume 2: Aggregates (HOA Bogie Hopper Wagon)
    • Cargo Line Volume 3: Intermodel (FCA Intermodal Spine Wagon)
    • Volume’s 1 & 2 added gameplay to Midland Main Line and Great Western Express.
Volume 2 also added services to Southeastern Highspeed and London Overground Suffragette line.

Volume 3 added rolling to stock to services in East Coast Main Line and West Coast Main Line.
You can learn more about these over on the Skyhook Games website.

    Cargo Line Volume 4: Military
    [IMG]

In Volume 4, take charge of more secretive movements across the UK rail network; the transportation of military vehicles secured aboard KWA Warwell wagons.

    The Rolling Stock
    KWA Warwell Wagons
    [IMG]

The KWA Warwell wagon was introduced to the UK amidst the Second World War. These wagons feature a low profile for being laden with large equipment while keeping within Britain’s restrictive loading gauge.
The days of mass-importing Sherman tanks from across the pond have long since passed, but the railways still provide a vital role in modern national security. Rail-served Ministry of Defence sites are still dotted about the country to this day, and many pieces of equipment are still transported between them.

This brand-new wagon to Train Sim World is in a heavily weathered military green livery. The wagon consists of a main deck featuring a lower central portion and mounted on two wheeled bogies. Conventional draw gear and buffers are located at each end.
The wagon is available in three conditions:
    • Unloaded/empty
    • Loaded with a generic tracked armed personnel carrier (APC)
    • Loaded with a 3-axle Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle (MRAP).
The pack also comes with the DB Cargo variant of the Class 66, previously seen in other Train Sim World Add-ons.

    Timetable, Scenarios and Gameplay
    [IMG]

Gameplay takes place across two routes:
    • Great Western Express
    • West Coast Main Line: Preston-Carlisle
These are available as separate route Add-ons.

    Great Western Express
    [IMG]

Gameplay on GWE represents military movements between bases in the Westcountry, Oxfordshire and Essex making use of the various yards on the route such as Southall and Acton.

    The Scenarios for GWE are:
6V03 Warminster MoD - Shoeburyness MoD, starting at Langley and heading east to Acton Yard.
6M45 Shoeburyness MoD - Marchwood MoD, starting at Southall and heading west to Reading.
6A48 Bicester MoD - Shoeburyness MoD, starting at Reading and heading east to West Ealing.
There will also be 6 timetabled services to operate between London and Reading:
    • 6M21 07:28 Shoeburyness MoD - Kineton MoD (Military)
    • 6V03 09:11 Warminster MoD - Shoeburyness MoD (Military)
    • 6A49 12:08 Shoeburyness MoD - Bicester MoD (Military)
    • 6A48 14:14 Bicester MoD - Shoeburyness MoD (Military)
    • 6M45 14:17 Shoeburyness MoD - Marchwood MoD (Military)
    • 6V98 19:12 Shoeburyness MoD - Warminster MoD (Military)
Journey Mode is also supported in ‘All Train Vehicles’

West Coast Main Line: Preston - Carlisle
    [IMG]

On Just Trains’ West Coast Main Line: Preston – Carlisle route, gameplay represents movements that would have taken place in the late 1980s moving equipment to the coast or through the country to other military bases located off the map in Scotland or the Midlands.

These trains are hauled by the Class 47 included in the route Add-on, rather than the Class 66.

The Scenarios for WCML Preston-Carlisle are:
6G64 Longtown MoD - Heysham Harbour, starting at Carlisle Kingmoor Yard and heading south to Morecambe.
6M00 Kineton MoD - Longtown MoD, starting at Preston and heading north to Carlisle
6V64 Glen Douglas MoD - Bicester MoD, starting at Carlisle and heading south to Preston.

There will also be 8 timetabled services to operate between Preston and Carlisle:
    • 6G34 06:03 Longtown MoD - Bicester MoD (Military)
    • 6C01 09:06 Kineton MoD - Glen Douglas MoD (Military)
    • 6M00 09:56 Bicester MoD - Longtown MoD (Military)
    • 6G64 11:58 Longtown MoD - Kineton MoD (Military)
    • 6V34 16:00 Glenn Douglas MoD - Kineton MoD (Military)
    • 6S01 19:51 Bicester MoD - Glen Douglas MoD (Military)
    • 6V64 20:02 Glenn Douglas MoD - Kineton MoD (Military)
    • 6C04 23:34 Kineton MoD - Longtown MoD (Military)
Journey Mode is also supported in ‘Armoured Personnel Carrier’

    8th Generation Console Experience
Please note that for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the spread of other trains running around has been reduced to provide acceptable performance. This reduction does not apply to PC, Xbox S/X or PlayStation 5 versions.

    Creators Club Tools
Both the KWA Warwell Wagons and Class 66 are supported in Livery Designer and Formation Designer, including both full and empty wagons.

The Class 66 also has Raildriver support.

A multitude of formation lengths are available to spawn in Free Roam and select in Scenario Planner.
Train Sim World 5: Cargo Line Vol.4: Military is releasing on 5th June for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Epic Games Store, and Steam for £9.99/€11.99/$14.99

*UK pricing will be £9.49 on the PlayStation Store

Nice to see the first ever military contents in TSW5.
In this DLC, there are two military vehicles, one is tracked armed personnel carrier, the another is Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle (MRAP), and here I would guess what kind of vehicles irl are they based on.
It seems like the armed personnel carrier in this DLC is based on the famous M113.
APC in this DLC (up), M113 IRL (below)
And the MRAP in game might based on the Mastiff PPV (British version of the Cougar 6×6 MRAP), but they are some difference exist (maybe due to the license issue)
But I think it would be better for Skyhook to model the APC based on those british made APC like Alvis Stormer or FV510 Warrior. (some change in appearance is need to aviod license issue)
Or maybe they can make this
    [IMG]
Although it is a pity that weapons or ammunition can't appear on the military vehicles in this DLC , but this DLC still look cool and awesome, hope that we can expect more Cargo line vol developed by Skyhook, or maybe in one day, a new modern day UK freight locomotives like Class 68, 70 or 93.

    Hiya,
To confirm, we were not permitted to exactly replicate any real military vehicles. Cargo Line Vol.4 Military only provides interpretations of the real vehicles. We were also not permitted to represent certain equipment such as guns or munitions on the vehicles.

To celebrate this pack, I'll have to drag out my TSC copy of the S&D with the old Bullied Q1 hauling armed tanks, big guns and Spitfire fusilages while bombs fall and arial combat goes on in the wartime skies above.

    Great stuff!!

A bit nitpicky, but the coming soon article for Volume 2 says it adds scenarios, not services to the route.

Who knows if DTG (or whoever for it) will be able to do something similar for the German railways, before the third world war breaks out...

    And the Class 86 pack…

CP4 probably something I would pick up in a sale. And while noting the military equipment has been nerfed somewhat, still a slightly controversial choice given the various conflicts going on around the world at present.

Is there ever a time when the world is totally devoid of wars? Even if it were, there's always plenty of military equipment and munitions being moved around. I don't see this pack as controversial any more than military aircraft in a flight sim.

True enough, I mean I don't have a problem with it myself other than it's yet another boring Class 66 hauled consist (the loco, not the wagons and loads). In fact, enable the guns on any tanks and take potshots at the loco, reduce it to scrap!

It comes with a class 47 for the WCML journeys, and the trusty class 66 for others.

Unfortunately, the cargo in this pack does not look as realistic as that in the TSC Bullied Q1 dlc which had tanks with guns, armored trucks and Spitfire/Hurricane fusilages. Admittedly historical but more fun to look at and haul around. Plus the dogfights above. In comparison, this military cargo looks kinda meh.

Of course that was steam, not allowed on TSW these days. ;);)

Well, as someone with a degree in Contemporary Military and International History, I will definitely be picking this pack up.

Plus, of course, I'm perfectly happy to add some more stock on to Preston-Carlisle, one of my main motivations in choosing which add-ons to buy these days, is what it adds to my existing favourite routes.

Really pleased to see this runs with the Class 47 on WCML. Hopefully there won't be any seperate timetable shenanigans like with vol 3, looking foward to running these alongside the 87 and 86, and also seeing them trundling the opposite direction whilst operating the new 86 which surely can't be too far away now.

Still existing loco though which most of us played to death and a 47/4 to boot which would rarely be found on freight workings. Should be a (non ETH) 47/0 or 47/3.

    Rare but far from unknown.
47492 made it to Pembroke Dock on a train of military vehicles in 1985.

-Some suggestions for new UK freight packs:
    -Coal Train w/ new loco (maybe a Class 70, 56, 58, or 60)
-Nuclear Flask Train w/ Stadler Class 68

    -US Freight pack ideas:
    -Continuous Welded Rail Train
-UP Rocket Booster Train (for Sherman Hill)
    -Ethanol or Oil Train
-Autorack Train w/ new articulated autoracks or Gunderson Multimax cars (or a mix of older and newer cars, just like real life)
-BNSF or MRL Boeing Fuselage Train (BNSF Stevens Pass/Scenic Sub, Marias Pass, or MRL routes needed)
-NS Roadrailer Train (or maybe Conrail, if we get that license) for HSC
-Coal Train w/ new coal hoppers for Sherman Hill
-Iron Ore Train (DM&IR or CN route in Minnesota, maybe?)
    -Wind Turbine Train
It's amazing what crazy huge and heavy loads can be carried on a freight train.

    -Some other great ideas:
    -Also, OCS/Business Trains for UP (w/ #4014, #844, and E9s; #6936 and #3985 would be awesome too), CSX (w/ F40PHs), NS (w/ F9s or SD60Es), and BNSF; also Conrail w/ E8s
-Excursion Trains w/ steam or diesel power: ATSF #3751/#2926 for Cajon, UP steam and E9s for Sherman Hill, N&W #611, NKP #765,, PRR #1361, and SP #4449

I have a question about the 66. Will it have the incredibly bright headlights on "old" routes like the WCML South one? If so, it might spoil the GWE experience a bit until the remaster finally comes.

I believe the Class 66 is the DTG DB red version that originates from the ECML route. Skyhook have not made any changes to the 66 or 47 that are used with CL4

Considering this comes with a separate timetable on WCMLOS, will this also take the Class 86 into account when it‘s released?

Just seen that on British Ace's video, I do wish they would stop creating seperate timetables. It's just 8 services on what is a reasonably quiet route, you would think they would have slotted in fine to the existing timetable, but now we won't ever see this as AI unless we specifically choose the alternative timetable, and as you say does that mean we won't ever see the MOD freight at the same time as the 86?

    Hiya,
Thanks for the question. When we sought permission from Just Trains to expand the default timetable, they said no. It is their route and their prerogative, and we respect that.

    It’s the Class 47 not 66

Cargo Line 4 utilises the class 47 locomotive on Preston - Carlisle route, not the class 66

If I had a nickel for every time someone questioned a 66 being on an 80s route despite it being mentioned multiple times that the 47 from the route itself would be used I'd have... actually way more than 2 nickels

Many people don't bother to read or lookup the answer to what they require, that's why the facebook tsc site is also littered every day with people asking the same thing, that's been answered a billion times already, or the answer is readily available somewhere else if they spent 30 seconds looking. I feel like these would be the same people that would burn their house down waiting on a forum reply, rather than calling the fire brigade or taking sensible actions themselves.

Will the upcoming JT Class 86 & Mk2f coaches also be included in the Military timetable after they release Adam?
