Is it me or the objectives for June not been posted up yet? After navigating the labyrinth/mess that the Dovetail Live web page is, nothing listed on there that I can see, just the route ones. Come on Jamie and or Alex, we’re eager to get cracking.
Doesn’t help the 1st June is a Sunday but it would be useful to know what they are so when I fire the game up later, I can select what to do accordingly. Hopefully when one of the team comes back from church (!), in between popping the Sunday roast in the oven they will post something up.
Just fired up the PS5 for a quick play before making the apple crumble and nothing shown for the June Mastery, though the May one has disappeared.
Looks that way as presumably it needs pushing as an update on the relevant platforms. It can’t be the only time the first of the month has occurred on a Sunday. Or the other option is, they decided to ditch the Monthly Masteries but decided not to tell anyone. Sorry but I do feel a ping coming on, DTG Alex or DTG Jamie , what’s going on please?
Here's hoping the community team get to enjoy their Sunday rather than worry about whether we only get 29 days to complete a few tasks this month.
Don’t ask, don’t get! And it could just simply be a case of dialling into the office server and giving it a kick.
June challenges is up now On The Level Gain 100,000 XP Mission Objective Completed Complete 200 Objectives during Scenarios or Timetables That's The Ticket Complete 5 Conductor Mode Timetables It's Heating Up Complete 10 Timetables as a Driver while the temperature is higher than 20°C / 68°F
I believe it changes with the date, you can't change the temperature itself. And it takes the present day as default, so it should sort itself out.
Hopefully next time for that one. At least it's only 5 conductor runs, which I might do properly this time. 100k AP sounds a lot but a few electric bus stop runs should fill most of that.
Conductor mode is probably the only thing on here that requires me to go out of my way. So glad it's only 5. Others should complete through regular play.
After selecting the service from the timetable, you can select month and day (and weather). It then shows the temperature.
Though if you’re picking from the Journey mode list, a bit hit and miss as while I think it tells you the time of year, it doesn’t state the weather. So my current run from Edinburgh to Polmont with a 158 is in summer, but typical Journey mode starts off in rain that’s now a raging thunderstorm! So whether the temperature got above 20C, I’ll find out when I finish the run later. Oh and from doing a previous quick run on FSN, although the AP logged looks like the objectives may be showing a bit of a lag. Something to keep an eye on.
I tested one scenario, and it seems the game counts every prompt you complete as a goal towards 'objectives completed'. So not only 'go via' or 'stop at', but also prompts as 'turn on the master key'. Makes it a lot quicker to complete.
Almost too easy then. Should have been 1000 objectives! Looks like the toughest part this month will not be falling asleep doing the Guard mode (if not using an exploit). Wonder if the St Ives branch has it!
The XP and timetables were showing up for me, but the objectives stubbornly remain at zero. I’ll check later on and if need be raise a ticket so someone can kick the server!
Completing a short guard timetable at Cardiff (Cardiff Central to Cogan) gave me a whopping 131 objectives completed. Also, the XP counter is counting my points double, again.
Hi folks - checking in, appreciate the support ticket on the doubled objective counting, I'll see if we can look into that more. I believe we discussed setting the monthly mastery live on the first day of the month, but currently it's still a manual push, so may mean they come in a day or two late depending on how the weekends fall in.
i can not even see the full text in the game of those objectives its being cut off halfway or so atleast on the site i can check it and the patch gave the complete badge after the game was patched showed up correctly again later
This annoys me so much! They have all that spare screen space, yet no-one thought to make the box bigger to fit all of the information into it? Like, seriously!?
Agree. The objectives part, once fixed by Support, already done. The XP already half way there with 7 x 20C runs left to do and four conductor runs (which I will probably end up save scumming as really boring). So likely to be done by the weekend, if not sooner. Though the free demo of the Aussie truck sim comes out today so that might prove a slight distraction… Come on Alex, give us something a bit more challenging. Mastery should be designed to keep you coming back and playing, within reason. That’s why secretly I enjoyed that one back in February where we had to drive was it 1000 miles/1600 km? It was tough but doable and actually felt like an achievement not plucking the low hanging fruit. As regards the objective part of the challenge, seems that needs to be tailored to not include every sub task you carry out, i.e. each time you open or close the doors, prompted to operate a switch in the cab etc. As per my original suggestion it should have been load passengers 200 (or preferably 1000) times, more purpose specific.
As we had a walking simulator as an objective, how about a passenger one? Ride as a passenger for so many miles? And on different routes?
Agreed, I also prefer a big XP (500k?) or distance objective. Maybe a slight preference for XP as that suits more playing styles, where with distance, the balance sways more towards high speed.
the only problem i had was with the temperature one but then i stuck with the Preston Carlisle route and did the shortest runs of 2 minutes and it is all done now another month finished and do not try to reload the masteries view in the game too many bad loads can mess it up. i think timeouts? timer to load the data to the game not high enough? it is better to check those in your browser on the dovetail site
Personally I find most of these monthly challenges just complete themselves through normal play, the only ones I recall having to actually make an effort for were the snow based scenarios and the conductor mode ones. I'm pretty sure playing the game normally I'm going to stumble across 10 sunny services. Maybe for more of a challenge they should do a couple of tiers, so the usual stuff to earn a badge and then something like 1 million xp to earn a poster or something. Lots of potential in this which I hope the community team will build on in the future.
That’s a good point which I was pondering earlier. Have two or even three tiers which get progressively more challenging, well apart from the finites like collectibles which there are only going to be so many of. As I said earlier, no disrespect to Alex or whoever thinks the challenges up for him, but it needs more legs.
Polished off the 20C runs with a few Glasgow area ECS moves. Just got to finish the AP. Though as it looks like I can get Roadcraft running on the potato PC after all, that is now going to be a significant distraction!
Same for me, everything updating apart from 'Mission Objective Completed'. Ticket raised. Every month I have to raise a ticket because one of the monthly masteries gets stuck. Every flipping month.
Old thread but heres a better question: why so you grind masteries on the training center? You're supposed to play and get progress that way, not farm in a train simulator.
The only element I used an exploit was for conductor mode. Everything else, including the AP, have been doing via genuine driving. Still got about 30k points to go though as Roadcraft has proved a tremendous distraction, particularly having just unlocked the “Sunken” map! So I’ll probably divide my time over the next few evenings to get it done, with a few runs on my favourite routes or to push some route Journeys towards completion.
