I know, late to the party, but holy rail thank you so much for that, before I had a few situations where framerates dropped to 30-40FPS, but now normal areas run with smooth 60FPS (I capped my game to 60FPS because who the heck needs more) and on more "laggy" areas like the big pre-station yard on Munich-Augsburg are still fine with 45 to 50FPS. I currently have a GTX 1660 SUPER, and I plan on maybe getting an RTX 3060/-70/-80 soon, lets see what the improvements will be then. but this is already awesome, thank you again!

okay actually why does the Training Center lag more now? is it because of the more trees?

Thanks for guide. For me on Xeon 2640v3 (8 cores 3,4 GHz) + RTX 3050 stutters are gone! FPS is still not 60 in dense areas, but much more stable. And no stutters. Yes i know that CPU is too bad and GPU need to upgrade preferably too. Anyway it helps! I will upgrade my PC soon.

I wouldn't be too excited if you get a 3080 it doesnt give great gains.

If you can afford it right now I would go for a 4080 Super. Cheaper than the 4080 with better performance, it is a big leap up from the 3090. I have the latter and, believe it or not, it often struggles with TSW, which is the most demanding game I own. More than MSFS, more than Red Dead Redemption 2 and more than GTA V.

Without sounding like a broken record it’s why this game desperately needs FSR2 and/or DLSS but the pleas fall on deaf ears.

Probably get DLSS with TSW 5 or 6? Maybe.

When I upgraded my machine in April, I went from a Ryzen 5600X + RTX-3070 to a Ryzen 5800X3D + Sapphire Nitro RX 7800XT. The sim runs flawless on this combo, once you let the shader cache compile.

Very happy I decided to take the plunge & go 100% 'Team Red' (no modern FPS games on this machine, so no need for ray tracing, etc).

I would disagree, TSW is not more demanding GPU-wise than other sim games like MSFS or XP12...afterall it does not even have any advanced DX12 features like RTX (let alone DX12 :) ) so there is no reason it should be demanding.
With 4090, in many areas I get 100+ FPS in 4K DLDSR 1.75x with 100% GPU utilization, but there are places where I barely get 50fps, like Boston South station, and it is because of one thing only - CPU bottleneck. I have 5900x, most of the time it is utilized from 20-30% only, and I think that is because TSW is poorly optimized for multi-threading. At the same time with these low FPS areas, GPU is utilized only about 50-60%, which is a clear indication of CPU bottleneck. In other games I can sometimes get even more CPU utilization than this, and rarely get CPU bottleneck, but obviously this depends on particular game engine, some are more optimized than others.
With this said, in case you are facing CPU bottleneck, DLSS will not help you at all, you will still get the same FPS, and I think many people actually face CPU bottleneck than GPU one.

I am no rich man, nor do I have a great salary, "a bit personal" I live on a fixed income and a small "I mean a small" pension, much of what I get and or own is saved up over time and or on Credit, I was lucky enough to build a somewhat good credit history.
I know Pete and Re-Pete here, I'm still paying off monthly the PC and GPU I have now.
Where there is a will, there is a way "within reason and what anyone feels they can afford."
What was stated is a suggestion, and yes, Computer components or a whole Prebuilt can be costly, it's the nature of the beast.

I actually removed the DX12 command from the Steam start up settings for TSW 5 as I found it caused a considerable amount of stutters for me.

The FPS is slightly lower without it, however gameplay is a lot more consistent as I no longer get stuttering every few seconds now.

exact opposite effect for me. DX11 is almost unplayable due to the amount of stutters, whereas DX12 is butter smooth with nearly zero performance issues. It probably comes down to system configuration.
