It's on the Just Trains route Preston-Carlisle, not the London-Euston to Milton-Keyes one.

I am actually looking forward to this MORE now that a 47 is pulling the Preston-Carlisle one.
That's actually something for the 47 to do.

That's fair enough, I wouldn't, for example, expect any conscientious objector to be willing to buy something like this. Plenty valid reasons for that to be a hard moral line.

Pretty disappointing about the separate timetable tbh. Not the end of the world, but as a player i'd hope to see a little more cooperation between the 3rd-party devs for the sake of the greater good of the game.

    Why?
    It's still in a timetable.
    What's the difference?

My speculation about the rationale for the second timetable, is that JT was tired about hearing how their route was crashing or otherwise not performing, when most of the blame for that should be probably be going to DTG for poor optimization. Why let someone else add in even more stuff that could be broken, and then you'll have to listen to the complaints? Of course, this begs the question of how this stuff even got onto the Shap route at all!

In regards to why it even mattes that there is a second timetable, there could be a few reasons depending on how one plays TSW. A completionist might have a lot of services already done on the original timetable. Now if they want to see the extra stuff, which is part of the fun of it, they have to start over or give up. Some people want to drive novel services, but it's hard to know what you have already driven when everything is blank. Separate timetables also further degrades the already neglected Quick Play feature for want of playing novel services. Now, I consider this less likely, but we could also see the SEHS version of this, where the separate timetables record your service on both. Although I think this the better method, it does award double medals which will probably annoy some players. To be sure, most separate timetables that we currently have also record your progress separately.

That isn't a reason. You would just have a while different timetable to complete.
It doesn't alter the original table at all.

You are absolutely correct in that it does not alter the original timetable. But, I disagree that we are also receiving a "whole different timetable." I suspect that what we are getting is a just a copy of the exact same timetable, except with a handful of extra services added in. So, you can see the issue that a completionist would have. This was also just one of the reasons I suggested that separate timetables could be a problem for some, and my list was in no way meant to be exhaustive.

Whether or not I personally get this DLC now depends on whether the 86 will substitute in on both timetables (I suspect yes because the 86 itself offers no new services), and also whether or not the military trains will appear on GWE remastered (who knows?). But, if the 86 won't appear in the new timetable, and ALSO the military trains won't be in the new GWE, then this pack is something of a joke.

Other than it just being yet another bit of sloppy bloat in this game?

Because for the pack to have value, it needs to play nicely with existing content.

Vol 4 adds services to GWE (which i'm not touching until the remaster, whenever that arrives), and WCMLOS.

WCMLOS also has the Class 86 pack coming out very soon. Seems like you won't be able to see the 86's and the Warwells on the same timetable.

As a customer, i really want to have all the content for a given route on the same timetable- otherwise it makes it all less valuable.

So, instead of buying day-one, i'm waiting for the GWE remaster.

You can use free roam there but it only has timetable on WCML Over Shap (Preston-Carisle) and GWE (GWML Paddington-Reading)

A much more likely reason is that Just Trains delivered a fully accurate and authentic timetable based on real life, and having 8 military moves every day isn't realistic.

I would, though, have prefered them to run on the same timetable and allowed those who don't want them appearing as AI to disable them in the layers options.

Adam, if you see this would Skyhook consider doing the NR Autoballasters or MRA wagons as a future Cargoline Volume please.

C'mon you don't care about game size.
You're concerned about finding the new services... and good news! You can just search "military" and they pop right up by sort.
So you can be a complete them with ease.

Think of it this way... what is easier?
Taking a book apart to add new pages and glue it back together?
Or printing a new book volume?
Programming is often the same way.
There's always a risk reopening another program, especially one that someone else made.
Creating a new one means the old one isn't corrupted by mistake.
Anytime you want to change it (with another "cargo line" pack for example) you can as the creator know confidently you can change it without touching the original.
It just makes logical sense and leads to the least amount of problems.

I don't care about any of that as a customer. I'm not a completionist. I care about these packs mostly as AI traffic, and just want to see all the available content i paid for when i boot up a route. It's literally that simple.

Like i said it's not the end of the world just takes this from a sure day-one purchase to a "down the road".

One day purchase for me, and having a blast thrashing the rails. The 47 on Shap really makes a different experience compared to the 66 on the flat GWE, even with the same loads. I like how the timetable freight "slots in": behind other existing stuff so you got a wait for a bit at times. The scenarios are pretty well done too.
    But to each their own.

For me it is similar, I too want these packs to add to the AI variation to the routes as well as driving. I have bought the pack today and find it very well done and I am enjoying it, but it would be dissapointing if the Class 86 DLC will be “split” in the timetables like Arosa from Rivet where you an either have the Panorama Car or the Aggregate Wagon but never both in a run. - My hope is that because the 86 must be just around the corner, it has been taken into consideration by Skyhook. Guess we will find out soon.

I do wish DTG would lock these 'Coming Soon' threads once an 'Out Now' thread is created. You end up with discussion spread disjointedly across multiple threads.

    Hiya,
I can confirm the Class 86 is not implemented into the Cargo Line Military timetable currently. It was not available when this timetable was generated. We would need to seek permission from JT to add it to our version of the timetable. Something we can look into as a possible future update.
