We desperately need more steam trains as I have found the game to be boring as nothing good has really come out from steam since flying scotsman. To improve the game u thing they should make 1 more heritage railway. eg; Great central railway with 9f 92214 and their 2mt. They could also put a gwr steam engine in the form of a castle class or hall class or even a a southern engine like a schools class. But the steam engine I want to see most is either Peppercorn A1 class tornado or a standard 4 tender and tank class DOVETAIL GAMES PLEASE LISTEN and care about the people who pay for your game every year.
Sadly it seems DTG remain firmly opposed to doing anything further with serious steam traction in TSW. As you say loads of loco types and not just from the UK crying out to be made, along with the routes to run them on.
Ironic isn't it? Numerous requests, the market is obviously big enough for them to at least make another attempt and they like money. Seems a no-brainer really.
Being realistic, if they do decide to have a fresh go at steam, they need to start small and simple. A proper tank engine or small tender loco, then work on getting the physics, water and coal consumption etc. right. Magnificent as the two suggestions above are, they have fairly limited usage possibilities. Maybe something like a GWR Pannier tank which could go in on WSR or a BR Standard Tank loco for SoS and PFR.
Another heritage railway would be a good place to reintroduce steam. Thinking about it, it'd be good publicity both for DTG and the heritage railway.
The NYMR is already in development, maybe steam is being re-introduced here? But I wouldn't at all mind the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway/B'n&KR.
+1 for steam. If they get it right, allow third parties to develop new locos and we have a decent selection of locos, it might bring TSC loyalists over to TSW. It’s a win win for everyone surely.
You see, not everyone wants steam engines, so the "DTG listen to your paying customers" doesn't work.
But those who do are being ignored/neglected and those who could transfer over from TSC are being foolishly untapped.
Had quite a lot of fun shuttling passengers around peak forest last night in Thomas with his lbsc clothes on. He happily does 50mph with no fuss. I prefer realistic myself although it's nice to have a more simplified ride sometimes. I wonder if dtg added a simple controls option along side advanced controls, would more people be interested in steam?
Trainz has that feature, although I’ve never been able to get to grips with the advanced controls too well.
Yeah I think tsc has a the same sort of setup. Although tsc is a lot more advanced than tsw when it comes to steam. I don't know why dtg leave these features In the past.
