    Hello,

I've been trying to make a halfway decent scenario using the 'Scenario Planner' and have a couple of basic questions.

    1. Can I set static empty trains in the yards? If I set a train with just a starting location, it always spawns a driver, and its engine turned on. I'd like to make a populated yard.

    2. Can I start outside my train somehow? I don't see an option for that.

I see there is another scenario editor application that you can launch separately when browsing around the forums, but that looks like another can of worms and I'd rather keep it simple and use the in-game scenario planner if possible.

    Thanks in advance.

On a vanilla installation, using in the in-game Scenario Planner only, then the answers are "No" and "No".

If you play on PC then the installation of just one mod will give you the ability to add wagons without a loco on the front of them. That mod is HERE and, once it is installed, will enable you to add UK wagons to sidings using the in-game Editor only.

Remember, without installing other extra path mods, you will still be restricted to using the sidings that DTG provided with each released route. In several cases there are very few on these and, on some routes, none at all. Used properly, though, the formation mod and a extra paths mod can give you this sort out look just by using Scenario Planner (no free roam here).

This screenshot show 2 rakes of JNAs parked on GOBLIN (1 full and 1 empty). The sidings made accessible by an Extra Paths mod.

This screenshot, on TVL, shows what you can do with the Formations mod (which adds some very specific formations with 'gaps' in them too) and the TVL Extra Paths mod. (Again everything you can see below has been placed using the in-game editor only once 3 mods have been added to the game).

So, if you play on PC, there is quite a bit to keep you interested. TBH I'm surprised that more people haven't tried this as it really is a game changer.

Finally, I am not aware of any mod that enables the player to start a scenario outside of the player locomotive using the in-game Scenario Planner. I think it can be done using the Unofficial Editor but that is a completely different ball-game.

Thanks for the response. I did find that if I place an AI train and its routes but set the route start time to BEFORE the scenario begins - it will spawn without a driver, and it just sits there like it should. Ill check out some mods too.

    Thanks
